Really special hotel, will remember well
4.3
Very good location, close to the bus stop. 1 bus away from Odawara train station. Walkable to local train station also.
Service was excellent and the food was amazing.
There are no elevators, only stairs, and this can be challenging for people with physical conditions.
It is a traditional Japanese style hotel (ryokan), so you eat sitting on the floor, and they put out and packed away the mattresses each day; and not much furniture (chairs) to sit on.
Onsen water (the outside one) can be a bit cleaner.
4.3
Excellent service. Friendly staff. Multilingual. I would rate cleanliness as 8 out of 10. Dinner and breakfast service was excellent. Onsen would be 10 out of 10 if there’s an outdoor option.

It was a memorable stay for our family. The property is charming and conveniently located near bus tops and train station. The best part of our stay was the staff. Everyone was very welcoming and courteous. We love our grandmother attendant. She was taking good care of us during our stay. She offered to take our family photos after the first dinner was setup in our room and she has a lovely personality. We were constrained by the language barriers but we use gestures to communicate which worked out well. The meals were incredible and they were a work of art. We were spoiled and we will remember the wonderful experience we had at Yaeikan for years to come. I can’t wait to return again.
4.3
Both private and public onsen options. Dinner and breakfast were very tasty. Futons very comfortable and very friendly service. Our a/c struggled a little to keep up with the hot humid weather, but otherwise excellent stay
4.3
Property conveniently located near points for public transportation. Staff especially attentive to customer.
4.3
Great Yaeikan, the room was excellent and the staff extra attentive and great. Very nice staff throughout the facility. Private onsen was amazing. Dinner experience in the room was incredible with the staff serving the dishes as well. Would recommend and will come back for sure.
4.3
It was an amazing stay! Our family had a wonderful time. Thank you so much everyone!
4.3
Nice, traditional Japanese accommodations and service. Set menus for each meal, served in the rooms.
4.3
Meals served in your room.
4.3
Very nice traditional ryokan! Our room had a private Onsen located within it, which was very nice. We had meals served to us in our room which consisted of traditional Japanese meals. Very nice staff. Close to the main shopping street and train station. Beautiful area.

We stayed at this ryokan for 2 days, and we really like it, especial the onsen and the lady was introduce us to the room, and service us the dinner and breakfast, I forgot to ask her name, we like her so much, we hope she have a good health and happy in her life and her job, we will come back to visit her later. The ryokan is old but quite nice, and clean. It is close to the train station, and close to the shopping street. We was enjoy there for the last 2 days in Japan. The food is good, first time in my life have a lot of sashimi like that time, I will keep it in my memory. I hope I can come back to there soon.

Yaeikan is an amazing place that allows you to experience traditional Japanese culture! I had an Onsen bath while listening to the rain. I had a traditional dinner and breakfast and slept on a tatami! It was incredible!
People at this place are kind, gentle and helpful! Highly recommend!

The kaiseki dinner and breakfast were the stars of the show. The authentic traditional Japanese inn (ryokan) was very evident in the room and the building's ageless architecture. Although it shows its age, it does so in authenticity, you cannot manufacture the feel and timelessness of Japanese culture. The essence of it is mainly the service, efficient, respectful and loving. Our hostess took care to make us comfortable , well fed, and well informed. With her broken english, she conveyed warmth and excitement as she must have with the many many guests that have come through this classic ryokan.
Highly recommended if you're looking for a real ryokan experience in Hakone.
4.3
Excellent services and amazing private onsen experience!
4.3
Wonderful experience!
4.3
SUGOI! Amazing service.
4.3
This Ryokan was very nice! The onsen was very relaxing, I recommend trying the public bath even if you have a private one. The food was very traditional.
4.3
The seasonal food is very good (and quite a lot!) The property has this great rustic feel that I really enjoyed.
4.3
Overall we enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Dinner was served at 6pm which we initially thought was a bit early but there were so many courses it took us ages to eat! Can’t fault the amount of food and despite us both being big eaters, we couldn’t finish it all. The beds were also surprisingly comfortable and breakfast was also big. Some points for improvement given the price: (i) 3pm check in and 10am check out is one of the tightest times we’ve had across our stay (ii) not much choice for dinner time nor 30 minute private onsen (iii) the table in our room was quite damaged and could do with a repaint on the edges. Only something minor but given there was only the table and two chairs in the room to begin with, it really stood out (iv) room was smaller than expected.
4.3
Our first stay at a traditional Ryokan and it was wonderful, a complete wind down from our 3 days in Tokyo! The private onsen which we reserved at check in was wonderful! And then we had the Kaiseki dinner and breakfast in our room which was a wonderful experience! Staff were all so friendly and accommodating when we left our back before departing for some more site seeing after check out! Highly recommend this ryokan if you are heading to Hakone!
4.3
The staff were very accommodating and friendly. The location was easily accessible from the station, and there were several bus stops nearby to explore the surrounding area.
4.3
Wonderful!
4.3
The onsen and food was lovely - exactly what I was hoping for. However the combination of renovations meaning we looked out into construction, wet carpet in the corridor and walking past all the back of house operations took away from the experience.
The front desk staff and the lady who delivered the food were lovely however the other staff were very brusque - I felt like we were in trouble or a nuisance.
4.3
A small traditional ryokan that is so full of charms! Easy walking distance from station. Room is more spacious than expected. Kaiseiki dinner and breakfast are superb! Staff are really nice and helpful. Maybe not the best but definitely one of the loveliest ryokan experiences I've had. Thank you.
4.3
The location is quiet & peaceful
4.3
Loved the dinner and breakfast in room. Fantastic service and very relaxing.
4.3
It was so near to Hakone Yumoto station, which is very convenient for us. Other than having some small shops nearby, the dinner and breakfast spread served were quite a feast. Like it that there is a variety of onsen baths there, both outdoor and indoor. Great service as well.
4.3
I like the traditional dining and service but building is too old and dark such as a ghost house.
4.3
One of the best experiences in Japan!
4.3
This ryokan is in a 100 year old building! Staff and service was amazing and the food was presented like works of art, tapas style.
4.3
This is a very traditional ryokan and although the property is old, they give you a unique experience that you can only get at these kind of place. Staff were very nice and helpful, the room was spacious and the view from the bathroom was just stunning (I love my private onsen), foods were great, its very healthy and special. The area around the ryokan was beautiful, there are gift shops if you walk towards the train station. My only complain was the AC, it was an old AC so it made so much noises that kept me up all night (I’m a light sleeper). The ryokan itself is only 6 minutes walking from train station. I’d recommend this place to anyone wants to try a unique experience of ryokan.
4.3
Great location. Walking distance from Hakone-Yumoto station. Food was good and served beautifully. Hot springs were great. We had a private bath time but the communal baths were even better and not crowded at all.
4.3
The hotel is at the heart of Hakone. We expected good services at the hotel. The front desk can speak English well, which makes the first impression good. The lady who is responsible for the room is very nice and responsible to our requests. We really appreciated that. A few things can be better: 1/ extra towels require extra charges, which is the first time we experienced for staying in hotels; 2/ the breakfast is good while the dinner is average. The dinner has good variety but seems not very fresh; 3/ run out of tissues; 4/ some insects in the room; 5/ room was not cleaned after the first day of the stay. Used towels and garbage is still there.
4.3
bad: older homes but to be expected
good: excellent and attentive service that make you feel like a king.
4.3
The room we stayed in was amazing. Beautiful views over the river and through the trees. Very spacious with a wonderful small onsen in the room. The food was varied coming in three courses. The futons for sleeping were very comfortable. Overall very pleased. Quite expensive but worth it. A warning though is that hotels.com no longer gives a free night for every 10 stays, now it is more like 40 nights!!
4.3
We booked a room with private onsen, which is a great decision because the public one is very small and does not have much view. The best part of the hotel is the dining experience! Everything was delicious and it was a lot food! Staff working at the front desk speak fluent English and was very helpful with tips in visiting the Hakone area. Overall, great experience and hope we can stay again.
4.3
Overall we were disappointed with the hotel. The main reason we chose this hotel was for the half board service (in room dinner, breakfast, and onsen facility). We were highly disappointed with the in room dinner for poor quality and limited varieties of the foods. The breakfast was better. The onsen facility was too small. Our room size is good. But our son’s room is small and old, and the air conditioner is not working. Overall we were disappointed and will not come back to this hotel.
4.3
Our biggest complaint is the insufficient AC. It was just too hot for us to enjoy our stay and dinning.
4.3
Service is really great! The dinner and breakfast served in room are nice.
