We loved our stay at Casa San Rocco. It’s an amazing property and super comfortable. We kept finding new terraces or corners of the garden to enjoy. It’s a stay of a lifetime. Can’t wait to come back when it’s warmer to use the pool!

This property is magical, with its multiple gardens, beautiful pool, and interesting architecture. Our 8 year old was fascinated by it all! The location was convenient, with a garage for our rental car and a small grocery store across the street. Anthony was wonderful as well, responding quickly to our questions when we had them. Malta is a fascinating gem full or history and culture, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time. We feel fortunate to have experienced it while staying in such a cool house.

Casa San Rocco was the perfect home for our party of 10 adults aged 24-70. We were able to find a quite place to read, a big gathering spot for dinner and a pool to exercise. Matthew, our chef and his assistant Mary Ann were excellent.

The property was very impressive with more then enough rooms to accommodate our family of 11 celebrating an 80th birthday celebration.
Connie the lovely house keeper welcomed us and was available if needed.
I would suggest the property is best suited to adults and teenagers due to some of the steps as young children and hide n seek could take a while at this property. Lots to explore and bus stop and local store close, we used cabs Bolt which were very affordable.
Everything worked well, bathrooms are very sufficient but in keeping with this older property. Great Wi-Fi in the office and one of our party needed to work so it was used daily for video meetings. Nice to have a break from internet dependence elsewhere in the property. Fans to keep cool downstairs and air con available in bedrooms. Definitely a place to make memories and our 17/18/20 year olds all want to return.

Casa San Rocco is the loveliest house we've stayed in. It's setting and grounds surpassed our expectations - even given the fantastic pictures on the website. The gardens and pool are especially gorgeous and exceptionally well maintained. We only wished we had booked for 2 weeks!

The house and grounds are absolutely stunning, the most beautiful house we’ve stayed in. We were all stunned by the rooms, courtyards and gardens, including the tower. It has all the advantages of being in a small town- a shop opposite and other shops a short walk away, takeaway pizza and bars in the town. But it feels very spacious, secluded and peaceful when you’re in the garden and by the large pool. There are lots of balconies and courtyards and we spent many evenings having dinner/ BBQs at the beautiful outside area. We were lucky enough to be staying at the time of the local festa so had fireworks and entertainments over the week which were fun (and sometimes noisy!)
Anthony was very responsive and also recommended Malta Sailing Experiences for a great day out sailing and snorkelling near Camino.
We did not need to hire cars as the taxi apps worked very well - it was easy to get to Valletta and to st Julian’s bay.
Overall, it was a very memorable holiday

Casa San Rocco is stunningly beautiful. A historic house set in a gorgeous walled garden with several courtyards and with terraces leading from most of the bedrooms. The children loved watching the lizards and feeding the fish and we all enjoyed the beautiful planting in the gardens. The swimming pool was huge and our evening swim, under the stars, was wonderful. There was plenty of space for all of us to be together, eating outside or in the lovely dining room or relaxing in the drawing room, but there are also small quiet spaces for a little individual time. We had a wonderful holiday. Special memories were made here. Thank you to Anthony and Connie for all your help.

This villa was magical, the only time where the place was even better than in the photos. There were many places to be in the shade( the temperature stayed between 27-37 degrees.)
The pool was refreshingly cool & a pleasure to swim in. There was a small surcharge for exceeding the daily electricity charge.

Beautiful spacious property
My family age ranges 17-82 had a super two weeks at Casa San Rocco. The property is lovely particularly the outdoor dining, garden and pool areas and the bedrooms all en suite with aircon were a real luxury. Our host was super, Connie the housekeeper delightful and everyone in Malta were friendly. Bus rides to town were easy as were eCabs and having two walkable small stores and two larger supermarkets so close was very convenient. We already miss our breakfasts in the inner courtyard (best wifi spot) and would also recommend the chef who cooked us a delicious birthday meal one evening. Would definitely return.

Great place as advertised
My family stayed here for 7 nights over Thanksgiving and a milestone family birthday. We were 8 people ranging from 2 years old to 81. We had a great time. The property is huge and the location is great or exploring Malta. The outside areas are especially beautifully maintained. We anticipated using the pool often but it is not heated so we did not end up using it during our stay. A few tips include access to the bedrooms in the main house involves climbing a beautiful limestone spiral staircase which may be precarious for young children or the elderly. The house was built in the 18th century and has been renovated nicely. However, if you are seeking every modern amenity, this may not be the right fit for you. Some of the carpets are getting older and need to be replaced. We had to be strategic about timing our showers in the main house to conserve hot water. The tower has two bedrooms, a living room and a kitchen and they appear to be the most recently renovated rooms. We hired Matthew Attard to cook for us for 6 nights and this was a big highlight of our trip--we were able to explore Malta all day and then come home to a wonderful meal. Matthew even made a traditional Thanksgiving meal for us which was wonderful. Overall it was a great experience and highly recommended for groups looking to stay in a more traditional environment.

Stunning villa
Just had the pleasure of spending a week in this absolutely stunning property. We knew it would be an incredible house from all the pictures, but it was so much bigger than we realised. The staff were all fantastic and so helpful throughout the booking process and our stay. The location was lovely and quiet with a few food shops nearby, plus it's a short cab ride into Valetta.
I also thoroughly recommended hiring the private chef. Superb!

Stunning Villa
The villa is beautiful, the photos do not do it justice. We particularly enjoyed how spacious it is (with every room having an ensuite and balcony) and the greenery. It really feels like you've walked into an oasis. The pool area is perfect with a good number of loungers, a toilet and a shower. There's a convenience store a 4 minute walk away and larger supermarkets (LASCO and LIDL) about a 15 minute walk away. We downloaded e-cabs (like Uber) and found it was a great way to get around. Connie kindly allowed us to check-out of the villa late which allowed us to make the most of our last day. We exceeded the electricity allowance despite using only what was necessary for us so bear in mind this is a possibility when budgeting.

Old Malta at its best!
Stunning romanesque style property in generous and secluded grounds with every possible amenity. Twelve of us had a wonderful week exploring historic Malta and enjoying the delights of the Casa San Rocco. Only yards from a corner shop and 100yds from a well stocked supermarket (Maypole). 100yds from a main bus route, but we made great use of local taxis (Ecabs - get their App) which were inexpensive and very reliable. The local chef, Matt, was both charming and talented, so much so that he cooked for us 3 times! Everything highly recommended.

A pleasant stay in a stunning villa
The nine of us really enjoyed ourselves here - it was a stunning villa. We came during the week of Santa Marija so there were amazing fireworks every evening of which we had a great view from the top of the tower. But lots of confusion over availability of a chef - the advertised chef turned out to be working in Corfu all summer, and the next choice never responded. It would save a lot of irritation if the property manager made arrangements directly with the chef!!

A wonderful oasis
Our family spent a delightful week at Casa San Rocco the first week of July to celebrate a significant anniversary. We were 8 adults and 6 children (from 20 months to 16 years). This property easily accommodated our group with lots of areas to gather, as well as plenty of secluded nooks for a quiet read.
The house is very large and beautifully furnished with several outside terraces and a lovely pool. The grounds are so comfortable that it was tempting to just stay at the villa to enjoy the day.
But our group found Malta so interesting that we were all off in different directions every day to explore something new, coming back late in the afternoon to enjoy the pool and dinner prepared by Chef Matthew Attard. We had originally booked Matthew for 3 nights but after tasting his food on our first night, booked him for any remaining nights he had free. Matthew is a gifted chef and added a lot to our enjoyment of Casa San Rocco.
The house is located in Hal Ghaxaq, a village which is centrally located in the southern part of the island. Our group had rented 1 large van and we also used Nick’s Chauffeur Services. Nick’s drivers are excellent and also a font of knowledge about Malta – sites to visit, history, politics, etc. We highly recommend them.
One of the highlights of our week was an all day excursion on the catamaran Maxim with skipper Ada Cuciuc. This was an adventure that will long be remembered. Thanks Ada!
And, I must also say thanks to Connie, the housekeeper, who helped to make our stay so comfortable.
We had a great week at this beautiful property.

Family gathering
Our extended family spent a week in this beautiful house in June. We were a party of 10 adults and were easily accommodated in this large property.
The house is beautifully furnished and has plenty of outside terraces for dining and relaxing. The housekeeper Connie was very helpful and assisted us when we had any issues or requests. We used the services of the Chef and really enjoyed the meal he prepared for us on our first night. The house is located in the small spread out village of Hal Ghaxaq and about 8 kilometres from Valetta. Our group hired 2 cars but used taxis to commute in and out of Valetta which was easier than trying to find parking and the roads are quite busy in Malta . You do need a car to travel to beaches, the best of which are in the north of the island. In terms of distance, everything is quite close but traffic makes travelling quite slow. All in all we had a great holiday in this beautiful old house.

A Magnificent Property!
This house is simply magnificent! The pictures can't begin to do it justice. We had lovely dinners outside, prepared by Matthew Attard, our delightful and talented chef, enjoyed Festa fireworks from the roof and tower, cocktails under the upstairs pergola and afternoons in the pool. Ghaxaq is a little bit out of the way and we did not rent a car as we were not comfortable with left-hand drive. But Valletta was an 11 euro cab ride away and the Maypole store was only a few blocks away and had everything you could possibly need. Our trip was greatly enhanced by VIPToursMalta. They arranged drivers and guides who took us all over the island, made lunch and dinner reservations and took us to Dingli Cliffs, Mdina, Valletta and The Three Cities. They also arranged for a fishing boat to take us from Marsaxlokk to St. Peter's Pool for swimming and cliff jumping and on to a more secluded and private bay just beyond. Connie met us at the house upon arrival and was very helpful and friendly and showed us all around the property. WiFi is the only thing needing improvement, as it really only worked in the study and main dining room and a little bit in the main living room. A repeater would be helpful to extend the range. Casa San Rocco is an exceptional property and one the I would highly recommend.

A very well-appointed and exceptional property!
Casa San Rocco exceed all our expectations.
In all honesty, I cannot begin this review without mentioning the chef, Matthew Attard. During our time in Malta, we never felt the need to venture out to restaurants -- I'm sure their meals were wonderful, but we were completely satisfied with Matthew's creation. What impressed us further was the fact that Matthew was able make thoughtful meals that could be enjoyed by a vegan member of our group. Both Matthew and Connie were amazing!
We enjoyed the multiple terraces and quiet sitting areas. The courtyard in the center of the main house is spectacular as is the courtyard leading to the pool. And, yes -- that pool -- is as tranquil as it is magnificent. The property is verdant and alive with all sorts of colors. We loved the location of the property and especially its proximity to the airport -- don't worry, we were never bothered by aircraft noise.
On our last day, one of our companions had trouble getting transportation to the airport. The taxi company couldn't locate her on their GPS. Connie was there, and came to her aid after realizing that she was having trouble. She sprung into action by speaking with the driver, and then she drove out to the location where the taxi was waiting and escorted the driver to Casa San Rocco! She saved the day!
Everything about Casa San Rocco was well-thgought out. I recommend Casa San Rocco without reservations.

We had a very nice time at Casa San Rocco
About 2 weeks ago I went with 11 of my friends to Casa San Rocco. In the time till our holiday I had a good contact with the people of Casa San Rocco, I get a very fast reply on my questions.
Casa San Rocco is a nice place with a big pool, beautiful garden and great rooms. Every room has an own bathroom. At the big tower you have a beautiful view over Malta. Every evening we see fireworks everywhere!
Ghaxaq is a quiet place but the people are very kind.
I recommend everyone a holiday at Casa San Rocco.

Fantastic villa for up to 14 adults
This is an amazing property. 7 Large bedrooms with well appointed bathrooms, greta outdoor areas, pool, terraces, 3 car garage, very helpful local property manager (Connie) who meets you and is 'on-call' if any assistance is needed, also thanks to Rachel, who handles the online bookings and queries. The local town is great, a few local bars (Band clubs) are very welcoming, even got us playing on a full size snooker table!!. We used a local chef (Matt Attard)to prepare a 60th birthday dinner for 12 of us.. he is fantastic and the local Maltese menu he prepared was memorable.. There were 11 of us, in our 60's, and we're all glowing of our experience.. this is a fantastic place for a large group, you can find break out spaces to spend quiet times, each bedroom has its own 'private' area on a balcony etc.. all amenities work well, the place is immaculately presented, pool is amazing, we had 2 meals on the charcoal BBQ outside, great tastes.. cant ask for anything more. Any downsides?.. you have to leave eventually!!

Amazing holiday in an amazing villa
I booked this holiday to celebrate my 70th birthday with family and friends. Casa san Rocco looked wonderful from the photos on the website, but when we arrived it exceeded all expectations! Everything about it was superb - the house is extraordinary, an oasis! Once inside it feels miles from anywhere, not surrounded by a busy village! The gardens are lovely, the pool wonderful, and all the bedrooms are beautifully furnished and comfortable. There were so many places to get together for an early evening drink - different terraces around the house and tower and around the pool - and eating at the long table in the garden was magical in the evenings with all the well placed outdoor lighting! The village is great for local shops - excellent pharmacy, convenience store a short walk away - we even found a shop to print out a boarding pass! The owner and his PA, and Connie the housekeeper, were all very helpful throughout the booking process and while we were there. Definitely 5 star all round!

Not a holiday house, - a holiday block!
This is not just a house it is a whole block! The entrance to the house is quite anonymous from outside. It is seemingly just another door in the small village street. But once you open it you have a whole world of luxury all to yourself! It really makes you feel like royalty. Alle the rooms are nice and big and there are enough balconies for almost everyone in the party to have their own. The big common area in the backyard is beautifully kept with trees and flowers and the barbeque area is the ideal place for long evenings relaxing with your friends and family. The kitchen is not very big but very well equipped. Staying at the tower suite makes you feel like Rapunsel and the view from the tower rooftop is magnificent. We had a problem with one of the airconditioners one day and the property manager came over and fixed it right away. This is a place I could definetely recommend and would love to come back to. Its privacy, beauty and magnificent garden/yard I believe would be ideal for small intimate wedding parties. As it is a big stone building covering almost an entire block the wifi only reaches part of the house, so bring a repeater if you need to be online by the pool. It is literrally only 5 minutes away from the airport, but we never heard any noise from air traffic. Just outside the doorstep is a small convenience store and a butcher. A large supermarket is only minutes away. There are many nice roads you can go for a walk. One of the highlights of the week was running down to St Peters Pool and jumping in before running back.

A Superb Holiday Experience
Mr Dupuis, a polite and courteous gentleman, met us on the first day and showed us around the villa. The property is in the classical style built in original stone and is much bigger than expected. The main features are as follows: a large dining room, a huge lounge, a fully equipment kitchen, 7 en-suite rooms, a laundry room, a large courtyard surrounded by trees and a swimming pool with comfortable sun loungers. It is located on a quiet street in a small town which has plenty of shops and bus links to Valletta, the airport and other resorts. I was in a party of 9 people and felt totally relaxed throughout my visit. The place was very clean and spacious and the facilities were first class.

What a wonderful 3 generation holiday
The pleasant door to this amazing house gives no hint as to what is within - lots of clean well furnished rooms, a large kitchen, a courtyard, garden with outdoor eating area, roof terraces galore, a swimming pool, comfortable bedrooms, all very private. It was the perfect house for our 3 generation family, providing plenty of space to either be together or spread out, with the added bonus that the two younger generations fit very nicely into the 4 bedrooms in the main house, while grandparents were able to sleep in peace and quiet in the tower. Would we recommend it to friends? Yes. Would we go there again? Definitely!
When you step out of the door you are in the middle of a Maltese town, so you are able to get some feeling for what life is like in Malta. There is a small grocer across the street. Everyone we met was very friendly and helpful.
This especially applies to the owner, Alex, who couldn't have been more helpful.
For families with small children - Pretty Beach at Birzebbuga is ideal. It doesn't entirely live up to its name, as it is close to the cranes of the Freeport, but it is clean, has white sand leading into a shallow sea, and the 2 to 7 year old younger members of our family made many sandcastles there. A short drive takes you to Marsaxlokk, with its many restaurants along the beach.
Malta is an excellent holiday destination - so much to see and do, and yet it is so small that you can get anywhere in a short time.

Brilliant.
Every bit as good as the brochure makes it look. Every one of our party of 12 aged 6 to 73 agreed Casa San Rocco was stunning and quite the best family holiday accommodation we have had in our 16 years of holidaying together and at a price well below what we have paid on the south coast of England. The introductory tour took 45 minutes - there was so much to see. The whole place was spotless.
Our teenage girls loved their base in the tower and our grandson had his "ladpad" in the separate room above the garage. The large pool was superb and much used. It was cleaned twice a week. Air conditioning in all the bedrooms was very effective and we only slightly exceeded our allocated units. The free wifi at 12 Mb/s saw a lot of use and coped with 2 laptops, 5 smart phones and an ipad, with users occupying the study, dining room or strategically placed seats in either lounge.
A major convenience was the garage with its roller doors, which solved local parking problems and easily accommodated our two seven seater hire cars. We used the express bus to Valletta on two occasions, from the bus stop on the nearby main road, for the experience of a bus ride and to avoid parking problems. An all-day adult bus pass for 1.50 Euros was a bargain.
Also very handy were the corner shop and local butchers for fresh bread, vegetables and meat, with two big supermarkets (Lidls and Lascoes) within a mile.
We had problems with one of the toilets flushing but Alex had his plumber round and it was fixed in no time. He was also most helpful in speedily retrieving and forwarding a wallet that one of our party left behind. Thanks Alex.
Our first Sunday saw us at the nearby Marsaxlokk market and St Peter's Pool, both were very popular as were the trips to Valletta. The first week coincided with the local village feast - lots of fireworks and church bells - and with brass bands either marching past our house or on a stage in front of the nearby church each evening. There was a spectacular local firework display on the Thursday evening with grandstand views from the tower, not only of it but also several others we could see going on around the island. The main church procession on the Friday right went past our front door. On several evenings we walked up into the village to join the throngs and have a beer in Manoel's Bar. Everyone was so happy and friendly.
A wonderful two weeks, in no small part due the the excellent accommodation afforded by Casa San Rocco.

Magical
We stayed in Casa San Rocco for a week in June, this was not long enough. The country house is magical, absolutely faultless, the rooms are charming and full of character and the place is very well equipt. We were met by a very helpful, friendly Alex upon arrival who showed around this amazing place and provided his contact details to use anytime we needed him. We had the chef Mathew come and cook us a 5 star breakfast everyday and dinner for 3 evenings, his food is amazing and great value, he left the kitchen spotless too, he too is lovely.
If anyone is thinking of hiring a villa in Malta, look no further, this is a must!!!

Wonderful house; memorable holiday
We were a group of 13 Aussies and we filled the property, and had the most AMAZING holiday! The house is warm, comfortable and beautifully maintained, and Alex was very quick to respond to our questions. We didn't have a car, but found the walk to the nearest bus stop no issue at all. One of the best parts of the stay was being a part of the village, where we found the locals genuinely friendly and hospitable. The local shops provided almost everything we needed. It was actually a little cool when we were there, but Alex provided an abundance of wood and the pleasures of an open fire with a glass or two of local red wine cannot be exaggerated!
We had Matthew the chef cook for us twice while we were there, and his food was excellent, not to mention that he left the kitchen spotless when he left.
All in all it was a lovely holiday, in an absolutely beautiful house, and we cannot recommend it enough. It is certainly a lovely way to holiday with family and friends.

We'd never been to Malta before and luckily found this fantastic place to stay at quite short notice. We are a family with four children, aged 8 to 16, and were looking for a place conveniently close to Valletta but also big enough, and comfortable enough, for us to be able to spend the day at home if we didnt want to travel outside in the heat of August.
Casa San Rocco met our needs perfectly. Spacious, cool rooms with great facilities (aircon, en suite bathroom, storage, etc), and a large swimming pool meant that the whole family had plenty of space to spread out and we could relax in very comfortable surroundings. The house was very clean, with a well laid out and equipped kitchen, and Alex, the owner, was helpful and hospitable, meeting us when we arrived, and again on the day we left. Though only 10 minutes from the airport, we didnt hear any sound from aircraft, and we found it a very convenient base from which to explore the island.
I have no hestiation in recommending this property.
