Crop Over: Crop Over, a five-week summer festival, is Barbados' most popular and colorful festival. It's origins can be traced back to the 1780's, a time when Barbados was the world's largest producer of sugar. At the end of the sugar season, there was always a huge celebration to mark the culmination of another successful sugar cane harvest - the Crop Over celebration.
As the sugar industry in Barbados declined, so too did the Crop Over festival and in the 1940's the festival was terminated completely. However, the festival was revived in 1974 and other elements of Barbadian culture were infused to make the extravaganza that exists today ..... an event that attracts thousands of people from across the globe.
Jazz Festival: The Premiere Jazz Festival of The Caribbean
The Barbados Jazz Festival, which celebrates the best in international and local jazz talent, has become a major annual Caribbean event.
The venues for the festival also reflect the diverse nature of the festival. The modern Sir Garfield Sobers gymnasium suits a large crowd. The open air Farley Hill National Park is ideal for a day of picnicking and jazz. The lovely Sunbury Plantation House is over 300 years old and steeped in history.
Thoroughbred Horse Racing: The racetrack in Barbados is at the Garrison Savannah which is less than two miles outside the capital Bridgetown. It has been the home of horse racing since the colonial days of 1845. The officers of the British Regiment who were stationed in Barbados, used what was then the parade ground to match their horses in races and the wealthy merchants and planters later joined them.
The Barbados Turf Club, which regulates and promotes horse racing in Barbados, was established in 1905 and organizes three (3) seasons of racing per year. These meetings run from January to April; May to August and from October to December.
The track is a 6 furlongs oval grass strip and races are run at distances of 5 furlongs (1000 meters); 5½ furlongs (1100 meters); 7.8 furlongs (1570 meters); 9 furlongs (1800 meters) and 10 furlongs (2000 meters), with the horses running in a clockwise (right handed) direction.

Enjoyed our stay here at Spring Court.
Nice and quiet. Pool was very nice.
Neighbours were quiet also.

We paid a lot and were very disappointed with the cleanliness of the apartment. On arrival we were met by Rosie and as we were slightly later than expected Rosie was kind enough to take us to the supermarket which is a decent drive away.
On return we did not get chance to look around the apartment while Rosie was present as she gave us the keys and left. After a close inspection we found dirty mats, rugs, cupboards, not so clean floors, damp and cracked ceiling in the kitchen, a dishwasher which didn't work and would not close properly, a sink with no plug and no bowl which meant washing up under a running water tap, a build up of dust and dirt over the doorway, a not so clean outside balcony, droppings and stains which were certainly not new! There was a dead creature under the sink which had not died within the hours before our arrival!! There was a general air of dirt around the apartment. We have photographic evidence of all of the above and despite contacting the owner and Rosie whilst we were there we have still had no feedback other than a plug was going to be brought by Rosie and which never appeared. Whilst the kitchen is stocked with more than enough cutlery, crockery, pans, glasses, anything you can think of, it is simply too much-there was only half shelf of cupboard space for the items we bought from the supermarket.
None of this is acceptable no matter what amount of money is paid for the rental.
The Apt. is advertised as ''Newly finished Upscale Apartment, close to beach, restaurants and nightlife'. This description is far from correct, as per all of the above and there is a long lane to walk before you reach the main road which takes you to beaches etc. this in most part has no pavement, meaning you are negotiating the traffic and the uneven surface. We made this walk many times in daylight, but only once in the evening due to the traffic also it's uphill from the main road. Taxis are a must at night.
Sunbeds must be carried daily down 2 flights of steps to the pool area-which eventually proves to be a chore, Owners should think about lock ups for there sunbeds rather than them being stored in the hallway of the apartment outside the kitchen area.
Pool area not clean, leaves are to be expected but it was much more, it should not be left to holiday makers to clean the pool every time they want to use it, Jacuzzi and fountains not working
Flyscreens would be better on Apt. doors!
We enjoyed Barbados but not this Apt.

Lovely apartment.
I had a fantastic stay at this apartment. It's beautifully maintained with a balcony and nice pool area. It's about 20 minutes walk from the nearest shops and Accra beach so it really adds to your experience if you hire a car. Cathrin and her agent, Brian, were extremely well-organised and helpful. Would thoroughly recommend (and I hope to go back some time)

Very nicely appointed - just like home.
My wife and I are from Michigan USA and prefer to holiday in Feb/March to escape a little from our snow and cold weather. This was our first trip to Barbados and it was fabulous. We rented a car so we had our mobility and really got a sense of the diverse geography and culture. Many wonderful restaurants and beaches. Too many to mention (Shaker's, Mama Mias, Uncle George's in Oisten and The Cliff, etc). Rockley beach is one of the best on the island and is only two kilometers away. Cathrin's villa was truly a home 'Away from Home' - it is on the second floor in a very quiet neighborhood.

Amazing vacation
The apartment was clean and cosy felt just like home. Beautifully decorated with a lovely balcony. We enjoyed mornings on the balcony having coffee and seeing the monkeys and roosters on our walks into town. The walk down to the beach was our daily ritual. The beaches in Barbados are spectacular. It was a little bit further than we expected and missed having a grocery store near by. It required a bit of planning everyday. However, we found out much to late that you could call in and they would deliver groceries. They also have a service which drives you home as well which is free but you can sometimes wait over 30minutes for a ride. The home is Easily accessible to transportation that gets you anywhere you want to go on the island. The fare is $2.00. The access to the swimming pool was great and I enjoyed it on a few occasions. Would highly recommend as a great place to stay. Cathrin thank you for sharing your beautiful place.

Fabulous - the most relaxing & enjoyable 12 days we have had in a long while. Location gave us many opptions - but we did hired a car to explore the island. Cooked fresh fish bought from the fish market which was a real treat. Had Breakfast on the balcony watching & talking to the wonderful variety of birds whilst also being entertained by the monkeys. The flat was beautifully decorated & well equipped & easy to manage. Last but not least the people are wonderful - they were always charming helpful & with a wicked sense of humour. We will be back - loved Barbados & loved your flat Cathrin 😎😍💕

Wonderful apartment in a very quiet location but close to all amenities
What a wonderful small (two adults) apartment in a very quiet location close golf course and within walking distance to Rockley/Accra beach facility, shops and centrally located between Bridgetown and Oistins and not far from St Lawrence Gap.
The apartment boasts all household facilities making it feel like 'home from home'.
Initially it can be a little hard to find if you take a taxi from the airport and the driver does not know the area but if you follow the map provided and watch for the landmarks it should not he a problem.
The apartment complex, although small, is very well maintained and the local agent/manager, Brian, made us feel welcomed and on hand if and when any problems arise.
We'd definitely recommend this to anyone looking for somewhere to stay on the South West part of the island and I'm recommending it at the moment to my sister in Trinidad.
If and when we return to Barbados we'd look to stay here again.

This was our first holiday to Barbados and we have had the most amazing time. We had a long flight delay, but this was no trouble as Brian was happy to meet us at the apartment not matter how late we arrived. He was very welcoming and helpful. Cathrin, the owner always replies quickly to emails and answered all our questions.
The apartment is lovely, a real home from home. The complex is small and quiet and everyone was really friendly. The walk down to the beach does take 20-30 mins but we really enjoyed the walk. There is a car hire place nearby, Top car rentals, they were very helpful and we were able to hire a car at short notice.
The local ZR buses are brilliant, an experience not to be missed and at 2 barbadian dollars each, a very cheap way of travelling around the island.
The local supermarket, Masseys, is quite a walk away, probably about 30 mins which is not ideal in the heat but they do have a courtesy bus which will bring you home so this is perfect.
Eating out is quite expensive but we did enjoy some lovely places. Shakers is a must, look at the recent reviews on trip advisor. A little shack that we would have walked past, but the food was beautiful, would definitely recommend the blackened fish!! The staff were really friendly but you need to book as they are always busy.
A trip to St. Nicholas Abbey is also worth a visit, a beautiful setting, lots of history and a lovely cafe! So many wonderful memories of our first trip to Barbados, will not be our last. Thank you to Cathrin for providing such a lovely base.

This lovely little apartment was perfect for our stay, it is very quiet, but still only 5 minutes car ride into the "Gap", with plenty of restaurants. We rang a taxi each night from the home phone & they arrived promptly within 3 minutes every night (we did have a car, but only used this during the day to explore, as we do like our bottle of wine in the evenings). We saw monkeys playing daily from the balcony , even running across the pool area (which we had to ourselves), humming birds also visited constantly on the feeder, which we placed home made nectar in. ( 1 part sugar to 4 parts boiling water in a cup, allow to cool & fill up the feeder). We actually didn't want to leave the balcony ! However we did manage to explore all of this beautiful island.......The booking process was easy & Cathrin was always on hand for any questions via email. Brian from the management company met us at the apartment with the keys and showed us around, he was on hand if we needed him. Don't delay, book today, you won't regret it. We can't wait to go back, thank you Cathrin for letting us share your gorgeous home & to Brian for all your help.

Where do we start! Cathrin's home had everything we needed and more! It was cozy, comfortable and clean and had every amenity you could think of. We loved that it was far enough away from the main street that it was quiet, and relaxing and we felt secluded but yet close enough that it was only a 15 min walk to the beach (Rockley/Accra). We ended up renting a car for a week to do some touring around. Drove to Bathsheba which was an amazing site to see! We did find the drive a bit challenging (directions, road conditions) so make sure you have a good map (Cathrin has maps in the coffee table) which we forgot to grab! We had a "Moke" for this trip. It's a small car like a Hyundai with the doors and roof cut out. It was hilarious watching my boyfriend get in and out of it! It was an adventure and we'll never forget it! Spent most of the mornings and early afternoons at different beaches. Miami Beach has the Mr.Delicious food truck serving flying fish sandwiches..a must have, and of course Banks beer and rum punch. Used the pool at Cathrin's almost daily and the lovely balcony in the evenings. Very peaceful place. Saw a lot of monkeys eating mangos outside the property. We fell in love with Barbados for so many reasons, especially the people, beaches, food, the weather, and hospitality. We will be back!

Relaxing vacation in Barbados
Dear Cathrine,
We so enjoyed staying in your beautiful Condo. It was everything you promised
it to be. From the moment we stepped in, it felt like home.
We had a great 2 1/2 weeks in Barbados. This was our first time to the Island.
and we loved it.
We were a group of 12 people from the USA and Germany, coming together for a
surprise 70th Birthday party. And they all stayed in different condos in the
Springcourt complex.
We loved to go to the pool, it was a great meeting place in the evenings. The walk to the beach was a 1/2 hour and very do-able. The neighborhood has pretty houses, trees, flowers, so that it was never boring. Of course the beach was our most favorite spot on the
Island.
Using the local bus was great fun, since the people are all so friendly, and them
speaking englisch is definitely a plus. If you rent a car you just have to remember that they drive on the other side of the road. One has to get used to that.
Next time we are in the need for a relaxing Beach vacation, we will most certainly
keep your beautiful place in mind.
Thank you

Mother/Daughter Trip
Dear Cathrin,
My daughter and I had a wonderful time in your 'girlie' apartment. Everything is so neat and in it's proper place. I did not get a chance to take a dip in the pool, but my daughter did and enjoyed the serenity.
Luana & Brian were great hosts checking us in and making sure that we were comfortable.
I would certainly recommend this property to friends and hopefully will be back soon.

In love with Barbados
My partner and me spent a wonderful time at Springcourt 6a.
The apartment was above expectations: it was very clean, comfortable and decorated with taste. The kitchen was equipped with everything you need if you want to cook your own meals. The owner also provides a washing machine, plenty of towels, beach towels, a hairdryer, air conditioning and even ceiling fans. We really appreciated the local maps, activity guides and notes with important telephone numbers. The lovely decoration gave us the feeling of being welcome. We already travelled a lot but no hotel room could compete with Sprincourt 6a. The garden and the pool are well-kept and we could enjoy our breakfast every morning on the quiet balcony.
We recommend renting a car, since the apartment is a bit far away from beaches, restaurants, supermarkets etc. but therefore, it is located in a quiet, save and friendly neighbourhood. If you rent a car, it only takes a few minutes to go to the next beach. If not, there is a bus stop only 10 minutes walking distance away from the apartment.
Each day, we visited another beach or attraction. One of the most impressive attraction was the Animal Flower Cave...we recommend visiting it early in the morning if you want to be the only tourist in the cave. If you plan do a sailing trip, you should definitely book a tour with Cool Runnings. The crew was friendly, funny and served delicious food. We also had the chance to snorkel with curious sea turtles and colourful fishes.
We are a bit sad that we could only stay 2 weeks on Barbados...even though it is a small island, you won't be bored if you stay there for 3 weeks.
We can recommend Springcourt 6a with clear conscience to anyone. Thank you Cathrin for the lovely, unforgettable stay. We fell in love with Barbados and hope, to come back again.

The BEST VACATION EVER!
The accommodations were absolutely superb! We found the Spring Court community to be very warm and welcoming. Cathrin's place was well appointed and as advertised - neat, clean, a gourmet kitchen and quiet. Rebecca and I had a very restful stay and the locale is perfect - close to everything and within walking distance to the beach and restaurants. If there was an issue - Cathrin made sure that it was taken cared of. We saw the Green Monkey's and Rebecca swam with the turtles via Cool Runnings Catamaran Cruise which we thoroughly enjoyed and also recommend. I would highly recommend Cathrin's place. We truly felt as if this was our home away from home! Thank you Cathrin for a wonderful experience in Barbados!

A great place to vacation and feel at home!
This apartment is very clean, comfortable and quiet with interior decor that has style and promotes relaxation. The kitchen is equipped with everything needed to make gourmet meals. The property has lovely gardens, a secluded swimming pool and adequate parking located in a quiet and safe neighborhood just a short car ride from the public beach. Shopping for everything one could possibly need is accessible. The board walk at Hastings Rock is spectacular. The fresh juice bar at Art Splash across the street from the board walk is delicious and is the location of a farmer's market on Saturday mornings with local vegetables and even fresh French croissants! The owner and her agents are responsive to any queries. A great place to vacation and feel at home all at the same time.

Wonderful stay for our 25th wedding aniversary
We had a nice 15 nights stay in this lovely apartment. It is decorated with taste and very convenient. We enjoyed having diners on the patio under the stars. It is a very charming and quiet place. We are often on the island for vacation and Spring Court is a place I do not hesitate to recommend.
We liked the south coast for its beaches and restaurants. The nearest beach which is the Accra beach is our favorite beach on the south coast along with Enterprise beach in Oistin. We went for the first time to Oistin fish market on the Friday night and really enjoyed the celebrating atmosphere and the fish being served on place. We also went to our favorite restaurants on the south coast(Tapas, Harlequin, Brown Sugar, ...) and dicovered the Cafe Luna in front of Enterprise beach. It is a nice place to have diner. You see the moon reflecting in the sea below while having excellent meal under the stars.
We love Barbados so much for its people, its safety and its beautiful beaches and weather that we decided to buy a property.

Vacances fantastiques!!

Relax and unwind
We had a great stay in this beautiful apartment. It felt more like a holiday home as every care and attention to detail had been made to ensure the guest was well catered for!
There is nothing you need when you get there but your flip flops and sun cream.
All amenities are available in secure well maintained grounds.
The gardens were well kept which made relaxing on the balcony and watching the monkey's disagree over a banana even more enjoyable.
Very organised access from day one with a warm welcome from the property manger and privacy throughout the stay.
10 mins to the beach and near lots of cafes and bars, however not anywhere near that it could stop you relaxing.
The main issue we had was we had to come home eventually ! Great stay, we will definitely go back.... There is a rum punch with my name on it !

Thank you Cathrin, this has been the ideal apartment for us chill out. We have been enjoying this lovely island since 1971, this is our 24th visit & our first stay at Springcourt. This is undeniably the best stocked & furnished apartment of any of the many we have stayed in. Very clean, with high ceilings which made it the coolest apartment. Thanks Cathrin also for your caring & hospitality. There is a/c in the lounge as well as the bedroom which is often not the case. Brian is very kind & will sort out any minor problems you may have. We have enjoyed visiting again, the Flower Forest & the new cricket museum. The shops, bank & eating places are very accessible. We struggle a little bit with walking so appreciated a car. Our favourite place for coffee of light lunches is the Sanctuary Cafe at Graham Hall Swamp; a beautiful setting overlooking pristine lawns & a lake. The Sunday buffet lunch at Southern Palms is also excellent with a live steel band & a beach backdrop. There is also a lovely coffee shop behind Big B supermarket in a tranquil setting. Rockley golf club serves a good value lunch for $B 20, open to all. The local beach is wonderful, together with the boardwalk.

Everything we read about this rental was true and more than we expected.Very clean and exceptionaly cozy. We loved the gorgeous pool and seeing monkeys in the trees. Other than the distance from town, which made the stay a little secluded, we LOVED IT and would definetly stay in this well stocked unit again. THE HIRTERS/ CANADA

Excellent vacation
We loved the condo, it had everything that we needed and more. All the sea shells was a nice touch. I didn't light the chandelier (much that I wanted to) as we had the fan going above that was much needed.
We walked for the first few days but the humidity was very high so we decided on a car. It rained for few days so we really enjoyed the air-conditoning and roof in the rental from Top Car.
We met an older couple at Accra Beach that have been travelling to Barbados every year for 37 years. We understand why.
I left a book marker in one of your books Cathrin, so that means I have to come back to finish it! Haha.
Great holiday! Dave & Grace

After 1 year hard work in Germany we were looking forward to resuscitating and relaxing holidays.
After 10 exciting days in Cuba we were yearning to white beaches, blue sea and Caribbean food. Therefor we decided (luckily) to continue our journey to Barbados. There we experienced further 10 fantastic, impressive, warm and relaxing days.
In Barbados we stayed in Spring Court, a first class residential complex with pool and all trimmings (internet etc.). The complex is really looked after, very clean and composed in best taste.
Very comfortable was the private pool area, where just the residents have access.
The apartment of Cathrin is situated in the first floor. Immidiately after entering the apartment you get a cosy and welcome feeling. Everything is really tasteful arranged, you couldn´t have better done in your own apartment. There is nothing missing for a longer holiday stay in Barbados. You have a washing machine, dish washer and complete kitchen equipment. In the evening it was lovely to sit outside on the balcony and listen to the never heard sound of the frogs. You even had the choice to sit on the lighted fountain. The lovely interior invided us to relaxe, cook and read in the evenings. We felt so comfortable that we didn´t had the ambition to go out in the evenings/night.
For questions or if we needed help, Brain the housekeeper and his wife were nice and competent contact persons. You also have the possibility to rent bikes. (but think about it, because of humanity and the head-that’s a challenge ;))
To the beach you have to take 15 minutes walk. Same for shops, restaurants and banks. For supermarked you have to plan 20 minutes to walk but the impressive thing is that you can take a free supermarked minibus which is bringing you till your frontdoor.
Sometimes you get unexpected visitors. A ape-family was visiting us several times. We never had before the chance to see apes so close-lovely experience (for both sides ;).
Shortly summarized we can recommend this apartment deeply for young people, couples or small families. Thank you Cathrin you apparment realized a fantastic stay in Barbados and for sure we are coming back!

I enjoyed my stay in this delightful apartment. The accomodation was exactly as pictured on the website and was extremely clean and well maintained and well equipped and when arriving it was very welcoming and like walking into an upmarket beach house with all mod cons. The apartment was quite large and very comfortable and situated in a very quiet location away from the hustle and bustle of the sea front complexes. The kitchen was stocked with every conceivable piece of equipment needed to to prepare and serve a multitutude of food and on several occasions I entertained 7 people with ease. Whilst nice to dine out it is also nice to entertain and enjoy some home comforts and perhaps play cards or a board game and have fun. Our favourite bar/restaurant was "Shakers" which is within walking distance of the apartment and although the menu was limited the food was excellent and if you visit you must sample the Mudslide.
Whilst the apartment overlooks Rockley Golf Course if you are carrying golf equipment it is a long walk of over one mile to the main entrance and a car would be essential both for the Golf Course (if playing) and also see the many places of interest on this beauticul island. I really enjoyed my stay and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone who enjoys comfort and an extremely quiet location.

A lovely apartment with all mod cons and we were suprised at how spacious it was. We had a great week relaxing here. The pool is an added bonus and the immediate area is green and quiet. We found it easy to rent a car nearby to explore the whole of the island - it being only around 30 minutes to get to Holetown or Speightstown. It is a little walk to Accra beach but there are lots of restaurants and bars once you hit the main road. The kitchen is really well equipped for cooking and the sofas very comfy. We would recommend Folkstone Marine Reserve for snorkeling off the beach, Crane beach for the pink sand and Beach House restaurant at Holetown in particular.

My partner & I stayed a Cathrin's wonderful apartment in March this year and were both very pleased that this was one of those places that does actually look as good in real life as it does in the pictures!
The apartment itself is beautifully done out in a beach house theme & has a real home-from-home feel to it. Everything you could ask for (all kicthen appliances, iron, safe etc) are supplied & there is a great little balcony where you can enjoy the peace & quiet at night and merrily watch the sun go down.
The pool is also great & we rarely saw any other guests (not that we would have minded) so regularly had the outside area to ourselves.
It's not 100% necessary to have a car (we hired one for a couple of days) but it would definitely help as it is a bit of a walk down to the beach & main Rockley / Worthing area.
Personally we didn't mind the walk, but you are looking at 20mins at least depending on how fast you walk!
However this also has the advantage that being a distance from town you also get the peace & quiet too, so is a blessing in other ways.
As others have pointed out you can also get the free shuttle from the Big B supermarket on the way back (about 30mins walk otherwise), or a taxi is relatively inexpensive also for about £4.
All in all, we would throughly recommend the apartment to anyway wanting a quiet & relaxing stay in beautiful Barbados, and Cathrin and her caretakers Brain & his wife (Luana I think) will go out of her way to make sure you have everything you need!

What a stunning apartment! Beautifully decorated and very tastefully furnished with top standard equipment and quality kitchen. Superb settting...I loved the peace and quiet, watching the humming birds as I lazily swam in the pool... and when I swam at night the trees around this beautiful location were filled with fireflies...stunning heaven on earth! Thank you so much, I will definitely come back.

This was my 7th trip to Barbados with my girlfriends. Cathrin's apartment is lovely with alot of attention to detail. Very clean and well maintained. As my friends and I like to cook, we appreciated the well stocked kitchen.
The apartment is on a very quiet street which is over- looking pieces of the golf course. We enjoyed watching the monkeys from the balcony and helping themselves to mangos from the nearby mango tree.
The pool is well maintained along with the entire property, we enjoyed taking a dip after a long walk in the early mornings.
We did not rent a car and made use of public transport. Its about a 20 minute walk down the road to the beach, or from the main road we would catch the No. 11 bus to Crystal Waters for the sunday afternoon beach bbq. Hint- on the way home we would stop by Big-B, and take the free shuttle back to the apartment.
The new boardwalk which starts at accra beach was a new discovery this trip- its great for nice walks all the way down to Hastings, can recommend stopping for a 'sundowner' during happy hour at the Sea grape beach bar at the Coconut Court hotel.
I would highly recommend to all my friends to stay in this apartment. It was really a lovely week, and I will be back in the fall.
