Fab old building full of intriguing stories
Nothing could not fault it

We had a lovely stay with family, used the pool twice. Breakfast lovely. Staff friendly. Rooms were spotless.
4.3
Fine stayed lots of times before it has improved a lot compared to our last two visits didn’t like the sour bread at breakfast preferred proper fried bread
4.3
Beautiful place to stay with a beach view from the windows. Beach is a minutes walk away. The food in the restaurant was amazing and we ate there every night. Staff were friendly and very helpful.

It was in a good location and had free parking. The parking was free. Very close to the beach and right in the town. The breakfast was freshly cooked which was very good.
The only thing we could find fault was having a heavy weight duvet in the heat. I asked the next day for a flat sheet instead and it was sorted
4.3
Location and historical aspect of the building.

The Royal Lion is everything I want in a hotel. We were greeted by name a the door, offered seating for meals and shown to our room. Food for both breakfast and dinner was excellent. The service friendly and efficient. Every corner of The Royal Lion is comfortable and classy. It absolutely exudes old school charm in every way. A perfect choice for your stay in lovely Lyme Regis.

Beautiful view, beautiful views, just perfect!

Service o.k. Asked for scrambled eggs on toast. Hotelwere aware of my allergy to sourdough bread, and this was reaffirmed when requesting breakfast. I was served scrambled egg and a slice of bread whichever presented onsameplatr separately. I pointed out that it was not toast! A very small portion of scrambled egg. I was then given 2 slices of toasted brown bread.
The steak I requested for dinner, very nice presentation but the steak had sinew running down the centre, which I could not cut through, so was unable to eat approximately half of the steak.

Very good breakfast. Staff were very friendly. Good location with car parking.
Bar closed too early and wasn't kept open for residents.
4.3
I paid the price on expectation that a sauna, jacuzzi and indoor swimming pool would be a available.
Sadly none of these were working.
4.3
Breakfast great and staff and very good second stay and will return
Very dissapointed that the pool AND jaquzi were both not in use fro the whole weekend as you are the only major
hotel with pool it was a major point for our booking to use pool 2 or 3 times
4.3
Nice but eggs need cooking a little more
Shower separate to bath would be better.
4.3
Beautiful building and location, really friendly staff .
4.3
Room , service and location excellent
The pool was out of use , which is one of the things I love here , would have been nice to know before stay .
4.3
Location is excellent & worth the premium for that, excellent breakfast, staff were very helpful & friendly, huge place but managed to keep it clean & tidy.
Room fairly small but adequate I guess, terrible TV reception so pretty much unwatchable & for some reason unknown our room was a sweltering oven even with the heating off & window open so sleeping was very uncomfortable.
4.3
Swimming pool not open , weird atmosphere
The bed and the room to hot
4.3
Breakfast was average. Didn't like the sourdough would have preferred toast. In hindsight would miss the breakfast
Room was clean and bed was comfy. It was a quiet location even though it's the Main Street
Only an hour in the pool - we were rushed by staff to dress and come out for the next person. Didn't understand why it was booked individually when we're not in lockdown anymore. It would work better if there was a 15 min gap between bookings to allow us to dress
4.3
Lovely old building with CARPETS !! Well spaced tables at breakfast . I’d prefer not to have had evening meal in the pub … Chandalier room infinitely preferable . Pool booking facility is special . Please put a mini fridge in the room
As above

Clean and cosy!

Loved this old building with its different areas. Great bar/ restaurant area, beautiful breakfast room and the small lounge area. Bedroom and bathroom as expected. Staff very pleasant and helpful.
4.3
Evening meals were great.
Breakfast was disappointing. Coffee was lukewarm and toast was in very short supply.
4.3
Great location and very comfortable. Would have been happy to stay a few nights longer
Nothing to dislike
4.3
the breakfast was good and location brilliant
having to pay for parking when it said it was included
4.3
Location
Had to pay for car parking as booked on booking.Com where if I booked direct was free which is ridiculous at the price
4.3
Old world charm and service

Location exceptional. Parking very convenient. My room was very accessible as no stairs,, and the bed was extremely comfortable.
I loved the bathroom toiletries.
The choice at breakfast was fine...but
I wasn't aware in advance that I'd have to pay for the parking overnight.
The cooked part of the breakfast was a little disappointing

Location
Traveller down over 3 hours after completing a gruelling half Ironman triathlon with the intention of total relaxation. Only to be told the sauna and jacuzzi were both out of order - the main reason we booked this hotel. Then after night one the cleaner somehow managed to break the toilet in our room and we was offered a key to another room to use toilet, only for us to have to be dissatisfied with this that we were offered a room change. However it was a bit of an inconvenience to move everything when we were only there for 2 nights and our intention to totally relax.
4.3
Nice breakfast. Kind stafff. Nice evening meal. We enjoyed the pie.
Room was too hot. Duvet too hot for the summer.
4.3
The staff were good and friendly and the breakfast was good. The rooms were kept very clean. The evening meals were excellently prepared and served.
For the price being paid at least a bottle of fresh tap water and clean glasses should be provided as standard in the room for each day and not just on the first day of the stay.
In the bar they hadn't heard of 'Lyme Regis Gin' which is famous and being sold in a shop right opposite the hotel.
A golden missed opportunity to sell, promote and support local products, and make money.
4.3
Breakfast was excellent thanks, lots of choice and very fresh, lovely surroundings. And I loved the swimming pool, a great asset! On site parking a real bonus too
The only disadvantage which I imagine is difficult to resolve due to the age of the lovely building is that the room was quite noisy because of people upstairs, movement around, doors etc. In future I'd request an upstairs room if that was possible.
4.3
Great location
Somewhat dated in terms of processes

location
we paid £10 per night extra for the parking as we book it through booking. com . Unhappy about paying parking £10 p n as we weren’t told in our booking confirmation in the past we’ve never had to pay for parking before we’ve been going 3 yrs so please can you let others know if this is an extra cost. in future I’ll book direct .
4.3
A very spacious room and the hotel had private off road parking.
4.3
The location of the hotel is unbeatable. This together with the car park were my priorities when choosing this place. We loved the view from the room, big windows, little balcony and high ceiling, lovely! The staff was very friendly. In case I visit Lyme again I will definitely consider staying here again.
The shower water pressure was weak so we had to use the bathtub which was fine but it is still the less environment- friendly option. The waiting time for the cooked breakfast could be a bit shorter.
4.3
This hotel is in a lovely location. The staff were very helpful. The room was very comfortable and the breakfast and dinners were tasty
Unfortunately due to the location there were times when seagulls and road traffic were noisy
