About this house rental
Tesoro Dorado is located 3 blocks from the historical landmarks of Central Park, the Granada Cathedral, and the lively Calle la Calzada. There are many restaurants, stores and attractions within easy walking distance. This spacious, bright colonial-style home has a large living room, open-air kitchen and dining, inches away from your own indoor private pool. All 3 large bedrooms each have a/c and a private bath. There is seating on the second floor overlooking the pool as well as a rooftop balcony with great views!
We invite you to explore the historical colonial city of Granada from the comfortable and central base of Tesoro Dorado. Our home is a colonial-style house with a central, indoor pool, open to the sky. You enter the house through arched doorways, into a large, high-ceilinged living room. The living room has comfortable seating and a 50 inch Smart TV.
The pool side dining room and well-appointed kitchen are open and bright, and allow visitors to cook and enjoy meals together. The kitchen is fully stocked and includes a full-sized fridge, 6 burner gas stove with oven, microwave, toaster, blender, French Press and drip coffee maker. We have a full set of pot and pans, dishes, silverware and many other accessories to make cooking a breeze. There is a water filter at the kitchen faucet, providing safe water for drinking and cooking.
The pool is in the center of the house and is open to the sky. It is about 6 feet deep and features a large stairway for easy entry. A private and refreshing pool is a must-have amenity while visiting the hot city of Granada. Please note, there is no fence around the pool and other than the stairs, there is no shallow area. Pool towels and beach balls are provided.
Tesoro Dorado has 3 air-conditioned, spacious bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and shower. The large bedroom on the main floor features a king size bed with memory-foam mattress topper, as well as a single bed and TV. The upstairs bedrooms have a king-sized bed, and a double bed in the largest room and a queen bed in the other.
The upstairs level has a sitting area that overlooks the pool and a desk for work, if needed. The wireless mesh internet system (3 routers) ensures that the wifi is accessible in all areas of the house. A spiral staircase leads to the covered balcony with amazing views of Mombacho volcano and the iconic Granada Cathedral of Parque Central, while being cooled by the breeze above the rooftops.
Laundry is available- washing only, hang to dry.
The large size of Tesoro Dorado allows for families to spread out in different areas, or to come together in the dining and living rooms. The colonial style of open area in the center allows the home to be bright and airy. Because of this open aspect of colonial homes, please note that it is impossible to keep all dust, noise and bugs out of the house.
Granada is a beautiful city, full of life and character. Tesoro Dorado is in an excellent location, just two and a half blocks from the exciting nightlife of the Calle La Calzada, and one block from the historic Convento San Francisco Museum.. Many popular restaurants are less than a five minute walk, including Kathy´s Waffle House, The Garden Cafe, Pita Pita, Pan de Vida and Cafe de Arte.
Also within walking distance are Parque Central and the beautiful Granada Cathedral. One can hire a horse-drawn cab for a tour around town or climb the historic Cathedral to see a 360 degree view of the area. You can stroll down the recently upgraded Calle La Calzada all the way to Lake Nicaragua and walk along the beach-front Malecon. There are many restaurants, bars, coffee shops and street vendors along the way.
Many attractions are within a short taxi ride ( we can provide contact info for reliable drivers). Laguna de Apoyo is a thermally heated crater lake and is only a few kilometers away from Granada. Lake Nicaragua has many small islands and one can tour the Isletas by boat or kayak. Mombacho volcano is a 8 km car ride out of Granada and offers a drive up the mountain in a big repurposed military truck and then guided tours. From the top of Mombacho you can see the entire area of Granada, including the Laguna, the Isletas and the largest lake in Central America (Lake Nicaragua, aka Colcibolca). We are happy to provide assistance arranging transportation and contact information for tours. Please let us know if you require transportation to the airport or other towns in Nicaragua and we can help to arrange that.
Granada is a beautiful and welcoming city, but it is not a quiet one! There are many celebrations, parades and festivals, often marked by the letting off of bombas (firecrackers) and of marching bands walking through town!Light sleepers may want to consider bringing ear plugs, especially during Christmas and Semana Santa (March 24-30, 2024).
Guests will are able to self-check in. We have an electronic lock on the door. Guests will have access to the entire house. We do not offer use of the laundry though local services are close.
We have a pool maintenance professional that comes to the house twice weekly for a short time Monday and Thursday mornings at 11 in the morning. We will have maid service weekly for longer stays.
Electrical and water outages are common in Nicaragua and usually last only a short time. Please let us know if the water is off for longer than 2 hours.
We will be available to answer questions and provide assistance.
There is unsecured parking on the street but we recommend the paid parking lot ($3 for 24 hours) 2 blocks away on Calle Corrales at the Granada Bomberos (firehall).
The pool is 6 feet deep and has no fence around. Please do not use glass dishes around the pool. The pool is surrounded by tile. Please note that tile can become slippery when wet. Please exit the pool only to the non-slip surfaces provided, and use the mop to dry the tile.
Electricity is quite expensive in Nicaragua and so we ask that air conditioning units and fans be turned off when not in use and prior to check out.

We loved this house. It had everything we needed while we stayed in Granada. It was extremely comfortable and all parts of the house were cozy. April and Jael were great communicators, kind, and generous. We LOVED this house!!! The pool was 6 feet deep, FYI. There is a Super Express at the corner that accepts dollar currency. $50 and under only. Make sure that your bills have absolutely no rips, marks, stains, or handwriting. Otherwise, they will not accept them. Nearby, around the corner, same street as Super Express, there is a house that says Castillo Duarte that serves great food. You need to reserve the day before to ensure your food. Baho and mondongo are the way to go. But, she only serves these two dishes on Sundays. Otherwise, you can reserve whatever you want to eat on any day. Vigoron Is amazing at the park. Choco museum was terrific.

The home was just as advertised. The greeter Jael was very communicative and met us there to let us in. The air conditioners in the room worked very well and the pool was clean and refreshing. The kitchen was spacious and had all the pots and utensils we needed. The neighbor Thomas washed our clothes for a very affordable price. I would say that you should just make sure that you walk home in a group and stay alert at night. Nothing happened to us but there were some drunk people out late on our walks home that were a little sketchy. I think thats just the way it is in Granada(Nicaragua).

The house is located right in the heart of the city. 2-5 min walk to most shops & restaurants. The pool was a nice touch to cool off in the afternoons. AC in the bedrooms was also fantastic in the heat! Netflix, Disney + on the 2 TV’s. We didn’t use the kitchen, but it was well equipped.
April & Jael were quick to respond with any questions we had.
Enjoyed Millarville canopy tour, horse and buggy ride in the early evening, cocao pool & beach club, plus all the exciting activities in the square.

RENT THIS ONE!! We have stayed all over Granada, but this is hands down the BEST!
Everything is in tip top condition, the hous is immaculate & the showers... better than any hotel in Nicaragua.
The place has vaulted ceilings, lots of space, rooms are all equipped with AC & the pool is one of the few thats actually got depth to it!
The owners are incredibly friendly & will go above and beyond to help you out too.
Located very close to the town center & less than 4 mins walk from just about anything you can imagine. Can not recommend this place enough... we're already looking forward to returning!

Tesoro Dorado is an oasis in Granada, close to many restaurants and shops but in a quiet neighborhood. The owner lives nearby and is very god at providing information on sites as well as recommending tours and taxi drivers. She was spot on on her recommendations. As for the house it’s a colonial style open courtyard that’s tastefully decorated. We loved the pool, it was a welcome respite from the heat after a day wandering Granada. Everyone was so friendly and nice. We enjoyed our time there.

I have been visiting Granada since 2007 and I have stayed in hotels, hostels and rental homes. This is by far one of the best locations and accomodations I have ever visited. It is convenient to all the main attractions and can accomodate large or smaller groups. The check in occurred without any snags; April and her staff were always helpful; and I can't wait to come here again. If you rent here, you will not be disappointed.

If you are looking for a great property in the center of Granada, then you've just found it! This beautiful house has everything you need - three large bedrooms with comfortable beds and private bathrooms, well-equipped kitchen, several living areas, top terrace and beautiful pool! The house is tastefully decorated and furnished. Pool was very clean. The communication with the host was very easy. And all that just within 4 blocks away from the center square. We highly recommend this house and this beautiful town if you are traveling in Nicaragua!
