It’s a very lovely property
It’s only when things go wrong that you discover how good a property is. It was very welcoming and the staff that were there were indeed excellent unfortunately we had a medical issue at night which needed hospital treatment and there was no one around to assist. Having decided to go to the hospital we left through a fire escape but in order to return we had to ring a number stuck to the door to be let in. Of course no one will ever answer that number because it’s the number of the hotel and there was no one there to answer. So if, god forbid, you have to call an ambulance in the night the ambulance staff will not be able to get to you because the doors are locked and no one will answer the phone. Or if you simply want to arrive late you won’t be able to get in. How did we get back in to the hotel? . We re entered through the door we left open. And no body ever knew.

Great location for historic places such as Lavenham and the market town of Sudbury. Surrounded by countryside and small villages. Ideal for driving on the almost empty roads. Very comfortable bed and the room had character as part of the old inn, but modernised to a high standard. Very large bathroom with shower over the bath. Quiet at night. Good breakfast. Would recommend as a base for exploring the local area.
The bar area and most of the ground floor is mainly set out for dining, and busy during the evening, so if you are only having a drink there is the option of a smaller room at the back of the bar or an outside courtyard space.

Lovely old building loss of character, nice and friendly, rooms were lovely. Beautiful grounds
We had dinner in the restaurant and what I didn’t like about the property is that food and drink was more expensive than London prices! The dinner was nice but portions were tiny and prices were high. An oat milk latte was £4.25.

Great venue. Lovely rooms and food and drink. Brilliant roast beef dinner.

A beautiful building with great staff, decor and food. Breakfast was excellent even though we overslept and missed the closing time by 30 minutes. All in all a real gem.

Location for us was important as visitors to the nearby barracks, village gorgeous. Staff professional and very helpful, food in the evening very good. Accomodation large, clean and very comfortable, free ample parking, had a lovely stay thank you, would recommend to anyone 😀

Waitress service, but be prepared to wait.
I skipped breakfast because the service was a little slow and I was in a hurry.

The Crown is a very well maintained and historical place to stay and has an excellent restaurant. I stayed on my own for work and would like to bring my wife in the future.
Everything was very good or excellent.

We loved everything about the Crown, the hotel is beautifully decorated, the beds were sumptuous, the food was excellent, and the staff were attentive but not over fussy. It is an excellent example of how a hotel should be in the countryside, with oodles of charm.
Nothing all was superb.

All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. As you walk in the door you get a sense of comfort and warmth. It was quite busy on arrival, so we went into the bar and enjoyed a drink. Our dog was greeted warmly and a bowl of water was provided for him. Our room was spotlessly clean and we particularly liked the doggy wallpaper and were pleased to see a wired fox terrier amongst the dogs!!
The garden is lovely and very well kept, with a nice seating area outside.
Breakfast was hearty and tasty.
It was very hot in the bedroom, but we resolved this by turning the radiator off. The bar was very welcoming but also very hot with the fire on. I guess the weather had changed to quite mild so it seemed a bit too hot, but again we resolved this by sitting in the back area of the bar and chatting to some of the locals.

I had a choice between driving another hour home or staying in a hotel. I'm so glad I chose to stay at the Bildeston Crown, otherwise I would never have discovered this gem of a place. All the hotel staff were friendly and helpful; and I loved the formal dining room (quite unusual these days in a hotel restaurant). The dinner I had was excellent, and I had a really comfortable, good night's sleep.
Everything was perfect - nothing at all to dislike.

Fantastic stay, what a find. Rooms were extremely comfortable and of a very high standard... Excellent value for money with breakfast included.
Food was out of this world and the attention to detail and friendliness of the staff was second to none. Will be back.
