A front porch with a view of Apalachicola’s historic Chestnut Cemetery welcomes you to a completely renovated cottage with the comforts of home including a modern kitchen, vaulted ceilings, nickel-gap and original hard pine flooring. Outside the up cycled garden gate and fence welcomes you to the meandering paths that leads to an artist studio which can be visited upon request. The garden is embellished with sculptures along with a variety species of plants. Potted herbs when in season are available for you to enjoy. Relax on the bench and smell the flowers and watch the birds taking turns in the birdbath while taking in the textures and colors of the garden designed by a local renowned landscape designer.
Located a scenic 15 minutes drive to the pristine beaches of Cape San Blas and St George Island which was ranked the number ONE beach in America 2023 by Dr. Beach.
Works of local artists embellish the space of this beautiful home making it a place of joy to be shared with loved ones. A gas grill is ready for use off the back steps. A doggie gate is available for your convenience.

Spent a week in this lovely, light, pleasant cottage. Well appointed, original art throughout. Surprisingly quiet location. About the best example I’ve seen of a renovation blending comfort and character. Daphne was kindness itself. Planning on staying there again, Lord willing.

We stayed in the cottage for a long weekend with our two adult sons. The cottage itself easily slept the four of us, there was free coffee and snacks, it was very clean, decorated tastefully, and had everything we could have asked for, including beach towels, olive oil, and a grill.(we got steaks from the nearby Piggly Wiggly). The location was within walking distance of everything we wanted to see and do in Apalachicola, so we never had to drive anywhere. We had coffee on the porch, took a nap on the lounger in the garden, took walks around the neighborhood... it was perfect.

This home could not have been better. Daphne, besides being a wonderful hostess, is an artist and her creative side flows over into the decor of her home. Charming is a perfect adjective. Located Close to everything in Apalochicola, my husband and I had a fabulous time. Oh and check out her wonderful metal work in the studio out back, very talented Lady!

We had a wonderful stay at Glance at the Past! Daphne was great and did a wonderful job with the home. It was absolutely perfect with everything we needed. Her studio is on the property but don’t let that hold you back from booking this home, it did not interrupt our stay at all! We would definitely book this home again! Very clean, great location to walk to town or grocery store and pet friendly!

We chose this cottage for its location to an event we were attending and it exceeded our expectations. The house has updated kitchen, bathrooms and is very comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and even included dog biscuits for our 4 legged family members. The front porch looks out on flowers and the historical cemetery so we started and ended our day there. Walking around Apalach reveals beautiful houses and lots of history. We’ll stay here again.

Our stay could not have been more enjoyable. We literally parked our car and didn’t move it until we checked out. The location is perfect in proximity to everything. We are our fur babies walked the park like neighborhood multiple times a day. Me and my spouse enjoyed the location as well, breakfast, lunch and dinner also walkable distanced. Our host Daphne could not been been nicer, I encourage everyone to ask her to explore her studio/ workshop next door, especially if your searching for something unique to take home for yourself or as a gift for someone else… Cant wait to return, we’re already looking at dates for our next visit. This was an absolutely amazing offering. If we come back to Apalachicola again, this is where we are staying. The beds were really comfortable. Bathrooms exceptionally nice. Kitchen was awesome. Cooking and eating utensils plus pots pans, cups etc were great. Comfortable living room furniture. Beautiful lighting. Central to anything in town. Loved it. Would stay again, no question.

We just loved this charming home! All of our needs were anticipated and met. There were so many extra special additions in the kitchen, bathrooms and even closets. The front is covered with beautiful flowers and there is a lovely garden on the side of the house. It is all so inviting, peaceful and filled with positive vibes. The host, Daphne is extraordinary. She is an artist so allow time to visit her studio. She was extremely helpful and we loved visiting with her.

Perfect location. Perfect amount of space. We couldn’t have been more comfortable or happy anywhere else! Walking distance to shopping, restaurants, live music and fresh seafood to cook ourselves. A beautiful house with attention to and forethought for whatever a guest would need. Awesome job!

If Daphne would have sold me the house, I would have stayed forever! Absolutely beautiful renovation, with nods to the past! Everything you would ever need to stay, including full sized shampoo and conditioner bottles! The house was immaculate, the beds were comfortable and the kitchen was spacious! The landscaping going in around the house is inviting and I even got a mini tour of Daphne’s art studio behind the house! She is an amazing metal worker and her creations show it! You will see her art decorating the property as well! All around wonderful stay, a stones throw to Apalachicola, and the best, most welcoming property owner a girl could ask for!

The cottage is wonderful - all modern updates in a historic building. Don’t let the outside fool you; it’s completely updated inside. All one level with only a few steps for our older dog, and lots of quiet streets for long walks. The host has thought of everything to make you comfortable and was easy to reach when we had a question, so we just relaxed and enjoyed! Thank you Daphne!

Don’t pass this one by. Everything is top notch. The inside has been completely remodeled. The area is quiet and just a short walk, or drive, to all the restaurants and shopping in the historic downtown area. We stayed 3 nights and wish it could have been longer.

Everything about the house was lovely - lovely renovation, nicely designed and very comfortable, and very clean. We would absolutely stay here again. The only consideration is that the restaurants leave alot to be desired if one is used to bigger cities with a range of excellent options, tho the oysters were great!. But the town itself is quiet and charming and I would just cook the next time round. Other than that, a couple of beach chairs and beach towels would have been a nice touch. Thanks for a sweet stay.

We had a great weekend staying at this very well done and newly renovated house in the heart of downtown. We were in town for the Mardi Gras parade and it was great to be able to zip across the street to the grocery store, or take a quick walk/bikeride around town. The kitchen is the perfect size to cook and enjoy meals in the cozy dining room. The decorations and attention to detail throughout the house were perfect. Daphne was quick to communicate and very helpful and understanding! We will be back.
