Friendly, cheerful and helpful staff.
Good evening meal
Location
Decor “tired” needs to be freshened up and it would be delightful.
Soap dispenser in bathroom was practically empty.

Long corridor and stairs, next time I'll book a room in the old stables , where there aren't any stairs 😂

Hotel was clean and comfortable. Room large double with lounge. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast and evening meals excellent. Good value for money and perfect location. Close to station if travelling by train and Cathedral very close by. Museum next door! The hotel also has ground floor accommodation which we will book next time,
Going home. You can travel to other locations easily by train so we will do this next time

Room was spacious and clean and the location was very central to Ely. We managed to get into the very small car park at a squeeze and all the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful.
Our room was up two huge flights of stairs with no lift which was less than ideal for my disabled wife (my fault for assuming a place this size would have a lift if needed I guess). Breakfast was poor quality and over priced - all the cooked elements were poorly cooked (poached eggs with yokes like squash balls, undercooked bacon, etc), the coffee was disgusting and the tea flavourless. Really disappointing on the whole.

Didn't have breakfast
Pillows too hard, asked for a softer one but replacement pretty hard also! Firm bed great, but one firm and one soft pillow would be good

room was clean
parking is horrendous only a small car park and not very helpful on where to park for an overnight stay if your there before 4pm. radiator in the room leaked so had to turn it off. check in short and sweet no info given about breakfast or how to get into the hotel if your out after 11. drinks expensive just got told well it’s a hotel. guy who ran the reception was rude asked our friends to move away from the bar but wasn’t polite about it no please or thank you

Great location. Good food. Great coffee at breakfast!

location, breakfast, staff helpfulness
New Years Eve dinner … food was average and there was no special atmosphere: why no music, sense of occasion?

Breakfast was lovely, beautiful rooms. Very quaint hotel.I love it and stay there whenever I visit Ely

I did expect room as shown on website, but it was nothing near that. Bathroom was disgusting.
All in the room!

Room was spacious, bed comfortable, en suite shower and facilities worked very well (e.g. plenty of hot water and a good shower), on site parking was very convenient, breakfast was excellent, and staff friendly and helpful. The location was perfect for the cathedral, which was the main focus of our visit.
The en suite was too small for two people to use at one time, particularly as we are required to keep the door shut. The double room had only one chair in it; there was plenty of room for another one. Directions to the on site parking seemed to be non-existent, and we eventually had to park somewhere and phone reception for directions; a map on the website would really help. Staff seemed stretched and some aspects of service were impacted by this but it is, unfortunately, pretty general post-pandemic. Finally, we had an unusually inconsiderate neighbour in the next room for the duration of our three night stay but there is not much the hotel could do about that.

Clean and comfortable with friendly staff.
Cost was a little high.

Very welcoming and informative staff. Room a very good size. Excellent central location for walking to areas of interest.
Parking was limited and very tight

Breakfast, Eggs Royale. Hollandaise sauce was grainy as if was just about to split though. The location in the centre of Ely was fantastic
The shower over the bath. Shower very unpredictable. Standing in the bath, it was a narrow round bottom bath so when stood facing the shower, the base of the bath was not flat so both feet were standing at an awkward angle which caused pain up through my hips.
5.0
The location was very central.
The hotel decor looks tired, the kitchen was out of action, the WiFi was a public network, and no breakfast was included in the excessive price.

Room clean and functional
Hotel central to facilities
Shower head broken
Breakfast:
had to choose breakfast time slot day before.
wasnt able to amend cooked breakfast menu - i requested black pudding and mushrooms be removed, i was told no (i could hear other tables been told no also). I think due to poverty and food waste this was ridiculous. i removed myself the items onto side plate; i would hope and expect that these items would of been chucked in bin - WASTE.
Poached egg - more like a green rock with brown slime around it - disgusting. Positive when i showed waitress she herself said that looks horrible and replaced with fresh poached egg with minimum fuss. Only downside breakfast went cold while waiting for egg- took about 20 minutes

The location for Ely Cathedral was excellent.
Location to pubs, shops and restaurants was excellent.
The staff were great but only once you get to know them.
The road noise was very loud especially on Friday & Saturday nights with loud bikes and boy racers.
The car park is very small to accommodate the hotel room capacity.
The rooms on the first and second floors are only accessible by stairs. No lift.
As a grade listed building I believe that the rooms need to be modernised to accomadate bigger beds, more storage for clothes and suitcase storage, the televisions need to be updated to 2022 standards.
The rooms should also need at least an alarm clock.
The bathrooms need to be modernised to the standards of 2022 there are no extraction fans as there are no windows to disperse the smell from using the toilet or steam from the bath or shower.
The bath/shower mixer taps need to updated as they are very hard to adjust to get hot water out of the shower.
Also the bathrooms need a very good clean
The breakfast are great value but the inconsistency for cooked breakfast changes each day depending on which cook you have.
The Sunday roast was also great value for money, but get in quick as by 5:30 pm there was nearly nothing left meat wise.

Position
Room was very small not even an easy chair. Very basic and bathroom fittings very old. Noisy at night
- very expensive for what we got. Long wait for breakfast despite having to book a time slot. Car parking limited so ended up parking in free long stay which was 7 minutes walk away - which wouldn’t have been bad if we hadn’t heavy bags to carry
3.0
Curtains were great for blacking out the light.
The accommodation is very tired, and does not represent value for money at all. Especially given the lack of facilities. It is poorly maintained. Plastic glasses in the rooms, a boarded up window on the landing, standards of cleanliness in the public areas are poor. I was disappointed. The hotel is described as Regency style. That, it was not.
