About this apartment rental

The Boathouse at Up Harbor Marine is one of Mt. Desert Island's standout Oceanfront properties. Offering outstanding, everchanging views of Bass Harbor, our onsite marina on scenic and lively Bass Harbor, and the mountains of Acadia National Park, waiting for you to climb, in the near distance - all in spacious, well appointed accommodations.

The ground floor features a very large open living concept: a living room with ample and comfortable seating, well appointed kitchen, a dining table to comfortably seat 8, full bathroom, den, floor to ceiling windows provide stunning views, birch hardwood floors throughout, and a covered balcony deck with wicker chairs, table, and gas grill.

Upstairs you will find three separate bedrooms with queen beds, closets, and nice cherry furniture. The upstairs bath is complete with shower and jacuzzi bathtub. The master bedroom has amazing views of not only the entire harbor, but you will see the outer islands and a view second to none of the mountains of Acadia National park. A private covered balcony also has wicker furniture off the master bedroom.
The Boathouse lives up to it's name. It was the home of Rich Brothers boat building. Over 150 wooden boats were built here over the years. The Downeast craftmanship of these famous vessel's is gone but the spirit of the building lives on in the working Up Harbor Marina which is also part of the property.
A short walk, drive or kayak away is Thurston' Lobster Pound, the premier seafood restaurant on Mount Desert Island.

We hope you will come stay with us in this very serene but energetic neighborhood. We are on the 'Quietside' of the island where the pace is slower; the 'front side' where Bar Harbor's T-shirt shops, some pretty nice restaurants, bars, theaters, and is but a 30 minute drive away. Bass Harbor, Southwest Harbor, Seal Harbor, Northeast Harbor, and other villages on the island each have their own charm and unique finds.

Acadia National Park surrounds these towns and has myriad carriage paths for biking, trails for hiking, Sand Beach, Ocean Drive; you must see the sunrise from Cadillac Mountain, the first spot on the east coast to see the sun in the States!

The boathouse is a unique home close to so many fun sites such as Acadia, Northeast Harbor, Southwest Harbor, and of course Bar Harbor. It's the perfect home base for a couple or a family. You are close to many restaurants and shops...and of course lobster pounds. An opportunity to see a real working harbor where there's always something interesting to watch...and at the same time, peaceful and quiet. Can't wait to go back!

Our stay at the boathouse was an awesome way to visit Maine for the first time. The property is beautifully decorated, pristine, has all the amenities we needed, and Jack checked with us via VRBO email to make sure we had everything we needed.

We really enjoyed our stay. Everything was clean and well kept. It had everything you needed far more than any other VRBO we have stayed in. Jack and his staff were helpful and friendly. Highly recommended. We didn't want to leave. Thank you for an enjoyable family trip.
