Spacious comfy well equipped and maintained property in great location

Great communication from property managers all along even up to the day we arrived - advising us unfortunately the dishwasher had broken and an engineer had looked at it but it wasn’t able to be fixed! However “they were onto it immediately”. We therefore thought we may be without a dishwasher for a few days as it was a bank holiday weekend (we’d booked a week) but we heard no more from them. We were surprised- a courtesy call would have been nice. However the novelty of washing up for 7 people morning noon and night (eating in the majority of the time) soon wore off!
A property costing as much as this I would have expected general maintenance to be carried out. Downstairs alone 6 bulbs were out of action (one above the sink in the kitchen!) and the toaster only heated 2 slices of bread (4 slicer!).
The gate leading from the garden to the Meare was hanging off it’s hinges so after the first use we didn’t use it again for fear of breaking it totally. The garden furniture was pretty cheap and miss matched (black, scrubby white etc.
The house is right by the road leading into Thorpeness and then on into Aldeburgh. Great location however pretty noisy with traffic! We were also unlucky in that a stag party were renting a house opposite and partied into the night! Not this property’s fault obviously but be aware other rental properties are all around and you can be unlucky!

Fun in the Sun
We had a great time in Thorpeness where, it seems, the sun always shine! The house is good but could use a bigger sign as we couldn't find it and had to ring to ask; another TV would curtail channel-related spats. The location is great for exploring the nearby coast -- Orford Ness is amazing!

Meare House
This property is in a lovely position in Thorpeness and we were very lucky with the weather. The Dolphin pub is well worth a visit and we had a lovely meal at the golf club.
Having read all of the reviews we were slightly disappointed with the interior of the house feeling that it needed just a bit of an update. As there were 8 adults in our party there was not enough seating in the lounge for all of us to sit comfortably.
4.8
a very large modern house with great character, with easy access to all the local sites. local pub the dolphin knows how to treat customers, as well as the thorpness kitchen, spot on.

brilliant sized house that made a stay for 8 adults a breeze.

We stayed at Meare House with friends, 4 adults and 5 children. We had an absolutely fantastic time. The property is outstanding with fantastic furnishings and everything we could possibly need. There was enough room for all of us without feeling like we were under each other's feet. Compared to other properties we have rented everything about it was magnificent and grand, especially the roll top bath in the main bedroom!
As for location, that was also perfect. Lovely views, fantastic coffee shop with great cakes just across the road and a lovely walk into Aldeburgh if you fancy it. Boats on the lake and a horse and carriage ride for the children, along with ice creams and then a lovely enclosed garden to run around in, they couldn't ask for more.
We will definitely be going back!

Beautiful house and position. Went with whole family - 3 families - grandparents 2 children with partners and 3 grandchildren ( + 2 dogs).
Layout perfect for everyone. Gates to keep dogs away from most rooms.
Only comments - in room with wet room attached - needs a bed side table for convenience of book, glasses and clock. Hanging space would also make the room more comfortable.
Furnishings and kitchen resources excellent.
We all loved the stay. Position is perfect near to the beach for walks and very good local pub. Family birthday while we were there and took advantage of the pub for a family meal - accommodated both children/baby and dogs.,
Would recommend to any one.
thank you for a lovely stay.

Lovely place, well equipped
Perfect for dogs and kids, brilliant gates for kitchen and we'll equipped with lots of toys and cutlery/plates etc for kids. Lovely house with great size rooms and very warm. Brilliant location and lovely nearby pub selling very lovely food. Only slight niggle is the kitchen handles were a bit sharp and slightly cut myself on it.

My partner and I&our 2 7 month old dogs have recently returned from a perfect weeks stay at Meare House, overlooking Meare Lake in Thorpeness on the Suffolk Coast. What a beautiful holiday home!Easy to find, perfectly located in the centre of the village overlooking the beautiful lake with the beach just a few minutes walk away. We were delayed in arriving but with keys left in the keysafe we were able to relax and help ourselves to settle in. The house was clean and warm and is bathed with light nearly all day and we found everything we needed had been thought of and was easy to find and use (i.e Heating, TV, appliances etc). Although we were only 2 adults and 2 dogs we had friends from Suffolk for the day on the Sunday and the house was amply large enough and the garden furniture well used to host guests with ease and we had parents in law visit also for 2 nights and so the extra beds and baths were again put to use and a real bonus. The showers especially were great, v powerful and easy to use. And the bed in the master bed is super comfy and hard to leave but the suinshine we were blessed with adn the sound of the sea coming in thru the windows made us get up and out earlier than usual!! The dogs had a brilliant time&the baby gates that enable them to be econfined to the kitchen overnight without them feeling shut away were a great benefit to us.The garden is all secure&shielded well from passers by to be able to enjoy having the dogs (and us) outside for much of the day when we were not out exploring the many lovely walks - inc the beach walk to Aldeburgh and back (about 4.5miles) and many more routes to be found out and about. Cannot recommend this highly enough.
