Basecamp was convenient to my son’s apartment. Low key, right price. It’s a bit funky but also fun. Fire pits glowing, pizza cafe with live music and fresh coffee in the cafe on site all good. The carpet was musty smelling and the temp was set below my comfort level. I couldn’t adjust the temperature so I had to wear my jacket in bed when sitting up. Brrrr.

The check in experience was good, the front desk staff was very nice.
This is a motel so it is unfair to compare the rooms to a hotel. If you are on a budget, I would probably stay here, but if you have a little extra money to spend something like the Hampton Inn might be a better option.
Pros: The room was very clean, I was most impressed with the cleanliness. This is probably one of the better motels I've ever stayed in and I felt safe and comfortable. The beds were comfortable. There was a little coffee shop in the lobby that served a reasonably priced breakfast which was also very tasty. The location is pretty good walking distance to Heavenly and the lake; however the lake is a private beach you have to pay to go into so just make note of that.
Cons: Parking... parking was very tight in the little parking lot they had, big trucks or SUVs definitely struggled and most parked on the street.
Heating was another issue, if you go in the winter time, please be mindful to bring your own little heater for the bathroom, there is no heat in the bathroom so very cold after a shower. Then the heater for the main part of the room is an old school heater that is next to one of the beds, right at the head of the bed so whoever is sleeping there gets cooked all night while the 2nd bed is cold. The heater looked like it was still from the 80's or 90's so might be time to get those upgraded.

Bunk bed is unstable and shaking. My son felt unsafe to sleep. I ended up sleeping on the ground to let my son sleep on the Queen bed with my wife.

Things were mostly comfortable starting out. Large property, easy to find, convenient location. We checked in and dropped our bags, and ventured out, the room was warm, furnace working, all good.
Upon returning back to our room, the heat was off. We figured it shut itself off once the room was warm enough. Next morning we wake up and can see our own breath, the heat never came back on. Dropped by the front desk, ask for some support, and were given assurance that someone would look it over for inspection/repair. Great, we leave for the day and come back in the evening.
Upon return, we were greeted with an ice cold room. We think no one actually inspected/repaired anything. It was after 10pm, so front desk was closed, womp womp. We considered going somewhere else for the night, decide against it. We wear as many layers as possible and hunker down.
We eventually find a way to heat the room the next day, there was another heating unit, took 2hr+ to actually get things warm given it was fighting an uphill battle.
Aside from cold nights, the food was good and coffee shop was great!

The guy at the front desk charged me $25 per night as a deposit, total $50 and it was never credited back. When they sent me an invoice it didn’t reflect the deposit I paid and never credited it back to me

loved this simple room for our stay. So great there is a brewery connected and coffee spot in the AM. Clean and just what we needed. Very comfortable bed.

Basecamp was amazing. Nice rooms and great amenities. Loved the outdoor area with fire pits and a brewery and pizza joint. Very eco friendly with a great healthy breakfast in the office. Walking distance to the best that South Tahoe has to offer.

I stayed at Basecamp on a solo trip for a couple days. They are very efficient with checking in and checking out process. The room was clean, comfortable and very cute. There’s a coffee shop and brewery on the grounds that has live music. Cute seating area outside with a couple fire pits. They are also pet friendly. I’ll definitely stay here again.

Great location! My husband and I stayed for five days for a vacation away from the kids. Our hotel was right next to all the hustle and bustle. Service was great and friendly, they kept it simple and communicated via text which was convenient since we were out pretty much early every day and stayed out all day exploring so asking for more towels was done via text. The room was clean and the decor was cute and rustic, I enjoyed the art work hung in our room. The bed and pillows were the most comfortable I’ve had at a hotel believe it or not. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Great stay and great experience.

Clean room, friendly check-in clerk, good atmosphere, convenient location, more quiet than expected, a little old and slightly run down but overall we liked it.

Good spot! Really dug the vibe of the hotel. The onsite brewery, cafe, and beer-garden where bonuses I was unaware of when I booked the room. Only wish there was an elevator. (I was with my dad who cannot walk well.) But he managed the stairs ok. Keep that in mind if you are a parent with strollers for the kids. Honestly though - it was no major issue for me, and I would stay here again.

The room was updated in a cool, rugged mountain motif decor. Very clean! Wi-Fi was very good! But it’s not great if you to bring your own food. Thought there was a small fridge, there was no microwave to heat food.

Great location-a few blocks from the beach and also next to beer garden with music. Base Camp offers two hot tubs and several viewing platforms. Some rooms offer a private balcony. Very helpful staff.

We went for a concert at the outdoor amphitheater. The location was amazing!!! We were able to grab drinks from the bar before we took a quick walk to the venue. We were also close enough to the strip to grab a late night bite and walk back safely. Slept like baby angles and got up to fresh coffee and amazing breakfast offering. Homestyle pop tart is were it is at. Will definitely stay again.

The location for the property is great. Close to the casinos/ heavenly and also the beach.
The staff is also wonderful. The building is a bit older so you can hear when people are walking around above and outside.
The beds/room were nice. It was a bit warm but there is a portable AC unit and a ceiling fan. The bathroom is not up to date and the shower is very small.
However, the location outweighs all the other things. Staff is super helpful and nice. The private beach is a wonderful amentity.

It was unique place that offered fun little perks. Within walking distance to Lake Tahoe. We had an issue with the AC in our original room which they immediately corrected by giving us another room. Very cordial and accomodating staff!

Great location but it seems they took a very old place, did a little sprucing up, added coffee and music. Nice touches like lighting and fire pit. I was just surprised it was rated so highly.

Excellent all around! Fun and cute decor. Parking can be tricky, just be prepared for that as it seems the older hotels in the immediate area have that issue - in general. Not just Basecamp.
