Western Canadian "Fawlty Towers" - and offsite management means we'll never stay here again
We were assigned to rooms on the ground floor, as requested. Bathrooms and kitchenette were ok.
We had rooms 3, 5, and 8 assigned, and as a group of 6 adult males pairing up into rooms, we needed 6 beds. Upon arrival at 18:00 local time, discovered that room 3 was a mess (not actually made up at all; bedding, wet towels, food everywhere). Had to drive over to the Prestige Inn (the Cedar no longer has management on site), and counter staff reassured me that room 3 was definitely cleaned and ready for us earlier that day. It was a mess, I should have taken pictures. I requested another room (instead of waiting for housekeeping to clean room 3), and they tried to assign me to room 12, which is on the 2nd floor (via stairs). [We travel with motorcycle gear and luggage, so I expressly reserved rooms on the ground floor]. I indicated only ground floor was acceptable, so they assigned me room 6. They assured me that room 6 had 2 beds, AND that the room was clean & ready. Went back to the Cedar, and discovered that room 6 actually had a bed, and only a fold-out (sofa bed). Was disappointed, but tired, needed a shower, and by now it was already almost 7pm. No pillows for the sofa bed, so had to borrow from my roommate's regular bed. Then we discovered the air conditioner would run just fine, but no matter how the controls were adjusted, it DID NOT COOL the room at all. One last thing: 2 of these 3 rooms revealed electrical work for installation of a modular safe or something else (?) which was still in progress. Those rooms should not have been reservable to paying guests until all work was complete. Radium as a tourist zone has begun to feel under-served in terms of available rooms each summer. That said, poor management oversight like this would not be acceptable to most travelers.

Very good
Clean and cosy room with almost everything you need in a hotel room.
Very thin walls and floor. The moment we arrived the hotel reception called us that room below us is complaining about the noise but we were just walking! You could hear every neighbor room as walls are thin.

AVOID
The location was fine, however, the room was freezing cold when we arrived and the room had dead and live bugs all over the place (we counted 15). We left and go a refund and stayed elsewhere. I think this hotel doesn’t have many customers as no one else was staying at the Motel.

The Cedar Hotel was Cute and Comfy. Will book direct next time.
That booking.com never showed me my actual totally and the price was almost $100 higher than I’d expected. Won’t be using the service again.

Very good
This rustic motel is clean and very comfortable. Check-in at a separate property is a minor inconvenience. We will return, so long as the following recommendations are met.
Reservation staff need to pay closer attention to special requests included with online booking. We requested main floor room, but this was not noticed and it was quite an adventure navigating narrow stairs for handicapped gentleman.
