Breakfast was delicious, in a very charming environment. The lady was kind and helpful.

In a very convenient residential neighborhood a few blocks from stores and restaurants. Walkable to many parts of the city.
Breakfast was different each day, multi-course, fresh and healthy. Room was large, plenty of space for clothes, and many windows for light. Free parking is provided on site. Manager was very friendly and helpful.
No A/C. It was very warm for Seattle and the room didn't cool off with the help of a fan until after dark. Could use new carpeting and TV.

I'm a little fussy, having stayed in many great hotels and a few BnB's. It wasn't as clean as I would like. There is a faint cat pee odor in the partial basement room. A good carpet cleaning may remedy that.
Then, we felt the owner was avoiding us when we were trying to get our valuables out of the jammed safe in the room. We never got a return call all day to acknowledge the issue, having left a message on his phone as soon as it happened. We returned at the end of the day to discover the safe had been opened, and our items were sitting there safe and undisturbed.
The place is charming, in a great location, and the owner is a pretty good cook, serving us breakfast each morning, but we'd probably like to try another place next time.
If you go, refuse the Hide Away. Don't settle for less than upstairs.

Location
My wife and I have mobility issues and the facility required us to go up to second floor. That information was missing from the hotel description. Also, we found a plastic glass in bathroom similar to one you would find in a cheap motel. Room was not completely clean each day

Man with mask answered door. We weren't even allowed to go inside to use bathroom. Had to leave luggage on porch until the room was available. I have never seen someone so afraid of covid who charges a ridiculous amount of money to stay for 1 night and offers absolutely no service to us.
The shower was awful. An old tub with a wrap around shower curtain that clung to your skin, very uncomfortable bed.

The breakfast was excellent and our host was fantastic.
But the tub didn't have good water pressure for the shower. But overall, we had an wonderful stay.

I am an Airbnb host myself with over 800 mostly 5 star reviews. Getting reviews from other hosts can be a mixed bag as we can be a fussy lot who think we know everything but I can say without reservation that Dennis and the Barclay House were fantastic in all ways. The house is comfortable and cozy, breakfast was fantastic (cooked fresh each morning), the location is exceptional, and the host was always available and friendly. It was sparkling clean with all the little touches right at your fingertips. Raining outside? There are umbrellas on the front porch. Out of towels? There's a stack in the hallway available for you to grab. It is centrally located with a short walk to both the Robson Street shopping district and the Denman street restaurants. I will certainly try and book here again should I return to Vancouver!

Beautiful old home with festive holiday decorations. Very comfortable with amenities. location was perfect and within walking distance to many shops and restaurants
nothing!

Everything was fine--room was ready when I needed it, breakfast was delicious (except that the host should offer cream, not just milk, for the coffee, and the breakfast is just laid on--no choices are offered).
I had the "Mountain" room upstairs and it was so cramped there wasn't even room for a chair. (Hint: old people need to sit in a chair to put on their socks.) The bathroom was tiny and the toilet cubicle was so tiny I had to keep the door open if I wanted room for my knees. I understand the need to fit as many suites into a small house as possible, but this room didn't warrant paying full price for.

Great location and could walk everywhere. Dennis was communicative and very friendly. breakfast was a little odd (sweet waffles with powdered sugar but with an egg and cheese and ham in the middle) but it was all good! Stay was convenient, comfortable and clean
