This is a great property for stopping off overnight. The owners were so helpful and friendly going above and beyond to make our stay the best it could be. There has been a lot of work renovating the whole property.
The rooms are freshly painted, bathtub was clean- the only thing was the back of the bathroom door looked as though it hadn't been cleaned for quite some time- a small thing but it really was dirty and put a dampener on the how fresh and clean the rest of the property was.

How do you turn a one star rated motel into an 8.3 review? That is what intrigued me and I was so delighted with the result that I tipped the maid $10. I just drove from Guadalajara, Mexico to Raton, NM, then on to White Rock, BC, Invermere, BC and then Calgary, Alberta. I then drove south into Montana and crossed the country to Sault Ste Marie, Canada and on home to Hastings, Ontario. The Holiday Motel was my BEST stay in every category. The guy who runs it is obviously intelligent and the rooms have electrical outlets just where a modern traveler needs them. Awesome value!!!
Nothing.

Good location. Room was renovated and clean.
Had to check in before 10 which was not convenient. TV a bit on the smaller side. Heater made a loud noise every time it turned on which disrupted my sleep.

Extremely comfortable and home-like feeling… slept 2 hours extra just because of these
There’s nothing to dislike about the property

They did not serve a breakfast, but that was OK - they are not usually worth the effort anyway. This is an older Motel that is being upgraded and is well cared for. The owner checked me in and he was very nice and welcoming. The room was clean, updated and quiet and I would stay there again when in the area. As a solo female traveller I felt quite safe there. Thank you!

Wonderful owner, very helpful. Very receptive when I mentioned changing water temperature of shower... I'm sure he'll look into fixing it. Clean and comfortable room. Would stay here again.
Changing water temp in shower.

The owner has a freshly paved parking lot and is obviously taking good care of the place. He was easy to talk to and knowledgeable about the needs of travellers.
Not a thing. It gave good value for the price and was clean and tidy.

This guy knows hospitality
We were two guys riding our motorcycles across Canada he welcomed us and even offered a garden hose and washing facilities to help us clean the bikes … great deal!

The front staff were very efficient and friendly. Check in was quick and seamless.
There were efforts made to upgrade the rooms. However, the paint in the bathroom was chipped around the door, and the bedding and towels were outdated. Unfortunately, despite the effort made with the upgrades, it left the room with a dingy look. It was clean though.

clean, convenient, friendly. I always stay there.

We were on a road trip, location was perfect.
Internet needs to be upgraded. I use my laptop a lot. Motel was busy, internet was overwhelmed and went down. Bed mattress was too firm.

Not much. It was clean.
Coffee maker didn't work, rough location, staff talking to each other rather than checking us in, bugs in the room, price on the doors much lower than what I booked online....... etc. Would not stay there again. Wasn't worth what I paid.

Family run business. Very friendly and welcoming. Room was very clean, and had a homey feel to it unlike the sterile decor of most hotel chains. Owner has done upgrades to exterior, HVAC, and bath fittings.
The bath exhaust is original, and hadn't been cleaned in awhile, so squealed like a banshee when starting up. To the owner: it just needed a blast of compressed air, and a drop or two of oil in the motor to get it running smoothly again.

Newly redecorated rooms. Nice looking from the road. Very nice staff. All the amenities needed. Good price.
A little far from the waterfront and city centre.
