This hotel oozes charm and character and it feels like you're going back in time. We loved it. Everything is in good condition and working and modern updates are still in character. The suite was huge. Big bedroom with 4 poster, bigger living area with 2 tables, chairs, sofa bed. Big bathroom has two sinks, shower/bath and a fridge. the bed was comfy (and so was the sofa bed according to daughter). Everything was spotless and we were given plenty of towels. Included breakfast had only a few options but it was sufficient and tasty and self serve, so you could fill up for a big day adventuring. Staff were lovely and helpful and let us leave our bags after check out.
No showstoppers: No kettle in the room so you have to go downstairs for hot water. Low hot water pressure.

Nice location near Japantown, lots of public transportation options nearby. Beautiful historic building, very large suite, breakfast included.
Very mediocre breakfast but it was included so I wouldn’t expect much more than that. Kind of stuffy in the bedroom (the living room had an air conditioning unit but not the bedroom). Pillows were hard as rocks.

Nettes kleines Hotel. Im 1900 Stiel eingerichtet. Sehr schön 😁
Das Hotelpersonal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Die Zimmer wurden täglich gereinigt … Bett gemacht und Bad inkl. sauberer Handtücher.
Unmittelbare (3 min) erreicht man mind. 2 Buslinien. Ich würde das Hotel weiterempfehlen.

The hotel has a classic feeling, bed was comfortable despite it being in a small room. Neighborhood it's placed is way better than Union Square, and had a safer feel.
The room was very small, would have liked to manage the room temperature in a better way, couldn't find how to do it.

La no propiedad tiene un ambiente acogedor, aunque es antiguo se encuentra en buen estado. La atención es muy atenta y gentil. La localización del hotel es muy buena.
De pronto puede mejorar la rapidez del ascensor y la variedad para desayuno

The staff were incredibly nice and helpful, from the early luggage storage and providing me toothbrush/ paste when I realized I forgot to take mine. The included amenities for the price was incredible, I loved the free breakfast and 24/7 water and coffee next to the check in desk. And the location was great too, walking distance to Japantown and the California line cable car.
The noise from the street, but I’m not sure how that could be improved for future stays.

The area is quiet and felt safe (we chose this hotel for its proximity to The Fillmore theatre). Choice of two buses if you don't want to walk the 15 mins from theatre to hotel, but we felt totally OK walking to our hotel around midnight.
Japantown is lovely. Very close walk to Van Ness, Geary or Fillmore buses (for north/south buses to Pacific Heights or to connect or the Mission, Lower Haight, Haight/Ashbury etc).
The bed and pillows were very comfortable.
The location of fridge in the bathroom was quirky, but actually worked out great because we could close the door and not hear it at night.
The air conditioner cooled the room down and while noisy, it cut out some of the street noise.
Always glad to have a safe in the room.
Liked the plentiful closet space and hangers, as we were staying 7 nights and loved having a spacious room.
Loved the bathrooms counter space and duel sinks.
The breakfast is a simple continental breakfast, but for me, all I needed to start my day.
Considering the age/type of building, it's great having an elevator and not just stairs (we were on the 4th floor).
Staff were very accommodating at all times (minding our luggage with our early arrival and also the day we checked out, so we could quickly get our car without hauling luggage, helping us source some packing material).
We would happily stay here again when visiting San Francisco.
No dislikes at all. It's a really good base for exploring San Francisco. But, here are some suggestions:
A larger towel rack in the bathroom and perhaps extra hooks?
There aren't many outlets in the rooms, but we understand it's an older building, so we made do.
We stayed a week and were happy to hang our towels and not need room service. We were a little surprised to find towels had been dropped off in the bathroom one day, even though we had the do not disturb sign on the door.
Recommend earbuds and having the AC or fan on at night to cut out street noise (thin, single pane windows and there was regular garbage collection, or something that sounded like it, before 5:30am). Having said that, the rooms were quiet. I heard music from the room next door when approaching my door but once inside couldn't hear anything. Sometimes people walking around above, because there are no rugs in the rooms. Rugs would be great for a little soundproofing, but I understand they make extra work for housekeeping and it's easier to clean without them.

Almost everything . Free breakfast felt good but would have been happier if could be a bit more lavish or say a few more items added please . Room and bathroom excellent but do not have their own coffee machine or much of a TV . Overall experience excellent considering the building being from 1902 . Staff gets my 10 out of 10 with Maria and Manoj served all tirelessly and with a big smile . Best value for money .
Noise easily entering the room . Noise from upper room to the lower room or from side room etc though understandable but a bit disturbing but I cannot think of how they can stop that unless insulating(/ possible sound proofing ) all sides and floors . Yet we love the place .

The staff were excellent. The hotel is very Victorian but also very clean. No noise issues for us.
The reception area and bar need a major update. WiFi was erratic.

The room was nice and big with lots of space. It was lovely and clean. The breakfast, although only continental was great and there was free coffee available in the foyer at all times.
The hotel was a bit of a walk from the main area of San Francisco and uphill alot of the way. With a stroller and child it made it a bit more difficult but we managed!

They give you bathrobes on top of the usual towels which is nice.
Lighting of the room was terrible - very badly lit.
The whole place smelled really bad, like very cheap cleaning supplies and it really stinks up the whole reception and even the rooms.
The sink is very poorly engineered as the faucet does not come out enough to be able to wash hands properly.
Windows were very old and were kind of stuck and in any case it would be impossible to keep them open as our room faced right above the exhaustion chimney of an elderly home’s kitchen and we would get all their fumes. Breakfast totally underwhelming, with very few options.

We truly LOVED that the hotel had real plates and cutlery, as we have experienced more plastic/paper in other hotels. Still, the butter, jam and spreads could have been offered fresh rather than plastic packaging. We were happy about our standard room, the bed was comfortable. The facilities of the room were satisfying, service was nice.
Our door to the bathroom were a bit difficult to close/open, but we managed. Other than that, only downside I could think about was the jam/butter single use packaging rather than served in a 'jar' (as we are now very much used to in Europe due to sustainable development), but apart from that all was good. :)

The hotel has a charming old city feel. Most of the artwork is original from way back.
The lights were too dim. Water in shower was barely strong enough to rinse out my hair.
