Room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The view was spectacular (ocean view), location was great and central to the places we needed to go.
Hotel was super busy due to the world championship regatta (we assumed a lot of the paddlers stayed there) so there were lots of kids screaming and running down the hallway at night.

Beautiful view from the lanai. Pretty gardens and nice restaurants nearby. Large room. Frogs, birds, turtles, eagle ray close by. Breakfast is good value and welcome cocktails a nice touch.
Building maintenance meant there was construction noise during the day. Corridors smelt a bit musty. At night-time there are a few homeless people and it is quite dark.

Breakfast box provided (one per room to fill with fruits, oat meal and some sweets) + coffee, juice
Pool was nice

They clean room every third day and despite extending for additional night which was 3rd in row, we were not provided with housekeeping even after assuring we will be provided with a service. They tried to help on front desk but we were already impacted.

It was being renovated- and definitely in need of that. It was fine for the price. Has lots of potential
Shower was yuck. Needs to be updated. Also water tank which is great bonus needs to be cleaned as mould on water panels- well that is what it looks like..:

Location is fantastic. On the water, next to the park. You can watch the kids jump into the ocean. Convenient to downtown and the Airport. Our ocean front room had a lovely view and the hotel, although not new, has a nice feel to it.
The ‘standard’ room we originally booked overlooked the broken down abandoned hotel next door so we were told we’d need to pay $35 extra to upgrade for a better view (We felt like we had to). The ice machine on our floor had been pulled out and a messy broken hole in the wall left behind. Although we couldn’t smell it, I am very sensitive to mold/mildew and so my sinuses were a bit upset but I expected that (since it’s Hawaii) so brought an air purifier so I could sleep.

Room was awesome! Great view and great location! Walking distance to a beautiful garden and beach area.
Hmmm, honestly I have no complaints.

Always a great stay!!
Not that I didn’t like, but would have appreciated more towels. Native Hawaiian Wahine with long hair.

I requested early check-in, when we arrived the room wasn’t ready, they said housekeeping was behind so we came back later, the first try of checking in I asked for a handicapped room but we did not get that, then our room only had three pillows, it was hard to prop up to watch TV, and the remote didn’t work, the bathroom floor was dirty, the pool had homeless people all around it, I will not be staying here anymore. Not worth $300.00 a night.

location is good
There are many ants and flies in the room and bathroom. There is no insect screen in the window. During the night the birds kept crying and had no choice but to close the window.
If I don't request room cleaning the next day, the hotel won't take care of it.
The room is dusty and not clean. The price is not cheap either. The check-in counter staff are not friendly. Other staff members are friendly.

The hotel was located at the edge of Hilo Bay on a quiet, shaded street,... in an upscale neighborhood. There is a beautiful park with a Japanese garden next to the hotel. We bought lunch one day and sat in a gazebo in the Japanese garden and had our lunch,... it was so peaceful! There are several things to see in Hilo and many are quite close by, within an easy drive from the hotel.
As for the room, we paid a bit extra over our original registration rate to upgrade to a room with a view,... and what a glorious view of Hilo Bay it provided from our 7th floor room. It was quite an experience to have breakfast on the balcony every morning and enjoy the wide-open scenery of Hilo Bay. I highly recommend upgrading to one of the rooms facing the bay. If you are lucky, you might even see whales playing in the bay.
I also have to add a couple of statements about the staff. They were very professional and helpful, always ready to assist and respond to our questions.
No complaints!

I liked that I only booked one night there.
Old, old, old. Run down, sketchy neighborhood, very old and worn out inside.

On the water and nice breakfast choices.
Our room was on first floor and the noise from the front desk area could be really LOUD at times, as late as midnight. The Spectrum TV was difficult to use, controller wasn't set up for all the needed functions. Sometimes it was like a treasure hunt locating ice. Machine empty, needed to locate another one. Ice machines weren't on every floor. Sometimes a clerk at the front desk had 'an attitude '

The open hotel lobby and staff that greet you are lovely. The room is spacious with a large TV. The grounds that the hotel are close by to are beautiful.
The room and hotel is in need of refurbishment. Replacement pillows are needed. Bathroom has cracks and mold. The pool is overlooking a rundown building. Photos don't resemble the current state of the hotel.

loved everything about the property. location, views, etc
The only issue we had was our wait staff for breakfast. she was not attentive at all. One member in our party received their breakfast and the rest of us waited and waited. 10 min went by and our waitress never came over. Never looked over. We couldn’t even get her attention. When another waiter walked by he helped us get her (it wasn’t busy) and she came with our food and said sorry. she forgot. the kicker was that my husband ordered just a few minutes after us. His meal never came. He waited so long that he ended up eating a little of ours and we told the waitress to just cancel the order however I wonder if it was ever even placed.

We stayed during Thanksgiving. The staff at the bar and restaurant were helpful, friendly and all had a great sense of humour.

Great hotel near Hilo Bayfront Beach Park and Coconut Island. Exceptional value for the money. The room was spacious with a comfortable bed. Especially liked the little balcony with great views of Hilo Bay. Great location a little bit away from downtown Hilo.
Not overly impressed by the food in the restaurant. Check out the food at Hula Hula's right next door for a more fun and outdoorsy restaurant experience.

The location was great. The view of Hilo Bay was beautiful.
The hotel room had a musty/moldy smell. The carpet needed cleaning. The area above the AC looked to be a bit moldy. The ice machine outside our room needed cleaned (I found a glob of yuck in my ice.)

The view was amazing! We had one of the best meals of our stay at the on-site restaurant. Full espresso bar in mornings was great as well. The staff were very friendly.
We had ants in our bathroom. Also the cafe opened at 6:30 which was a little late for us to have our first coffee. A better coffee machine in the room would have solved this issue. The coffee tea bag system makes horrible coffee.

The view was amazing. Sweeping views across the bay and of Coconut Island. This was an excellent location as we had a car but you could walk to the town centre if needed.
