Everything was excellent, especially considering the recent disasters in the area. All staff from the reception to housekeeping to bartenders and waiters were extremely welcoming and great at their jobs. The gym was fantastic. Access to the beach and surrounding area was great. We booked before the fires and were worried about intruding on the locals, but decided to move forward to support the local businesses. Hopefully we were able to enjoy the area respectfully while doing so...I highly recommend to other travels to get out of the resort a bit and support the many locally owned restaurants, food trucks, tour companies, markets, etc. Lots to see and do outside of the hotel, too!
There wasn't anything we necessarily didn't like, but considering the high cost of the hotel and food/drinks in general, one or two days of free breakfast or a reasonable "breakfast package" could go a long way toward boosting the value. Also keep in mind everything pretty much shuts down after 8 or 9pm here - not a party resort. Could use a few vending machines or small 24 hour amenities booth at reception since finding a store open after 6 can be tough. During the week, couldn't even find a drink past 8pm. Not an issue, just something to keep in mind if you're a night owl.

although the room was next to the elevator with a wake up call at 5:30am and a goodnight at 11--love the size and that we had a mt and ocean view--also loved the waiters at breakfast, very funny and started the day off with a smile.....
never sat around the pool because it was crowded-sorry that there is no way to open it up just a little.....-family was staying at Marriott so we were at the beach with them or over in their grill area....

30 mins from airport which was good. Easy to find. Great welcome. Very impressive hotel. Rooms very spacious. Balcony view overlooking mountains fantastic.
No beach. Walkway collapsing - erosion and high tides meant beach had disappeared by 1130am. Very disappointing. The bedrooms were beautiful but needed more hangers and larger drawers for clothes. If you stay for a week and are travelling between islands more space required. It’s a large conference hotel so expect to walk far. Restaurants and bars incredibly expensive.

Lovely hotel with nice big rooms. I liked that we had a large bed and also a sofa. The pool is gorgeous and has lots of space. The on site Luau is spectacular and a must do.
There wasn’t much dining on the resort with only the pool side and steak house available. Given the remoteness of the hotel didn’t leave much options. The breakfast buffet was also very basic again given the price of the hotel.

Location is great.
We felt really let down by our stay at the Hyatt. We were here celebrating our engagement - no effort made from the staff. This place really isn’t the one if your looking for a romantic getaway, it’s complete chaos and full of families and children. Forget about getting a resturant reservation, it’s impossible, we had to eat at other hotels every night for dinner as the hotel couldn’t accommodate us. Breakfast was a disaster - we were left queuing for 20 minutes and then shown to a dirty table and given a cold flask of coffee. No fresh juices offered, all the hot food on the buffet had gone cold and food wasn’t replenished properly. The pool area is absolutely filthy, trash everywhere, drinks from guests that had left spilt on the floor and not cleaned. Pool not cleaned. We found the service at lunch at the beach bar terrible, staff just don’t want to help but then expect their full tip. I could go on and on and on, we felt this was the worst value for money resort we’ve ever stayed in.
We will be returning to Maui as we loved the island, but we will be staying in another hotel.

The Hyatt Regency is a beautiful and cultural experience. The pools, beach and location to other beaches are perfect!!!
The room had a view of the gorgeous flora and partial ocean. What a spectacular view! We woke up happy and relaxed everyday!
The staff and their attentiveness to detail and courteous manner was gratefully appreciated.
I can’t forget two more things: Japengo is a must do and my son visited the penguins daily!

The layout and easy access to beach, the various pools and hot tubs available around the facility for guests to use.
Complimentary shuttle services to and from airport are not offered to guests.
I specifically purchased a partial ocean view and the agent at the time of my check-in informed me that I had a view of the property but that she had upgraded me to a partial ocean front view!!! Preposterous treatment with a guest checking in. Did not appreciate that.
There is a self parking charge of USD 25/- per day. I had an incident at the self parking lot of the hotel where my brand new rental car’s door was scratched repeatedly and I found $2 stuck under the car wiper on the front. This was reported to the hotel security team and they outright claimed no action and instead informed that the guest parks their rental car at their own risk! This is extremely irresponsible and no hotel resort facility should inform a guest in such a condescending manner. After all this was top money in excess of USD 5,500 paid for a 5 night stay and not a Motel 5 stay, where one’s car is damaged!!!
Moreover, I had a paid breakfast included in my stay and I had also paid upfront the resort fees as well as gratuity & tips for my stay, however the nagging staff constantly asked for tips and gratuity, sometimes threatening until they were paid!
I also did not find the drinking water to my satisfaction, which had electrolytes and chemicals added for improved taste!!! I never thought drinking water ever needed to be enhanced for taste!

Great hotel.
Great hotel staff.
Great pools.
Lovely beach walk
Turtles along the beach in the water.
Even if you are paying a lot already for the hotel, the restaurants are pretty expensive.
Snorkeling and water sport equipment is not free of charge for hotel guests
Sadly the pool bar was closed and that was one of the points we would have loved to enjoy in the hotel.
The beach access are rather difficult to find.

Nice hotel, spacious and clean room. Nice pool area.
Super expensive but nothing extraordinary. Expected better amenities for the price we paid. Breakfast not worth the price. Regretted staying here as had to pay extra for everything on top of the high price for room.

- Great location
- The main swimming pool is close to the beach
- Beach is not crowded at all
- Beautiful interior and design
- Person at the check in did not provide enough information about all the facilities of the resort. So we missed a few events during the first days.
- Not so many lunch/dinning places nearby.

Beautiful resort, lovely staff, great facilities. The animals on the property were an amazing addition, as well as the views and landscaped grounds. Nice elements to make the stay comfortable such as towel caddies and filtered water around the property. Plenty to keep you occupied at the resort as well as nearby to the village and town.
More positives than negatives, however our room near the elevator meant we could hear it from our bed, people were reserving chairs at the pool first thing in the mornings and coming back for them later, need to walk down the beach a little if you want a bigger beach to sit at as the water in front of the property is quiet high up the shore.

the beach and pool area were very nice. also enjoyed the fitnes center. The restaurants on site were all excellent
There were no adult only areas. Children were constantly in the hot tub without supervision. We stopped using it entirely after we witnessed a mother dunking her baby with a diaper in the water. It was disgusting. We also asked repeatedly prior to our trip for a room with a bathtub and were promised it would happen. It did not. We also found the bedding to be very uncomfortable. The mattress was good, but the loose sheets made us crazy. We prefer a fitted bottom sheet and proper duvet. Our room was within earshot of the nightly luau and the noise was unbearable at times.

Grand style hotel on huge parcel on beach. 2 full restaurants on premises as well as other shops. Good upkeep and maintenance for a slightly older property. Animals on premises (penguin show, exotic birds and fish). close to shopping and Lahina town and beautiful walking path on beach.
not a good value at the price level. Hard to avoid the time share sales pitch desks all over the property and even beach path. All the staff were great with the exception of the tall slender woman at the spa who was extremely unfriendly.

We stayed 5 nights during the christmas period and found the property to be great with excellent facilities like gym and pool and even penquins and flamingos.

Pools, gardens, restaurants etc
Beds were terrible, very soft which gave all of us a sore back, ended up sleeping on the kids pullout beds.
