Staff was super friendly
No heating possible in the room - inside temperature was in low 60s.
Bathroom too small and in the shower suddenly cold water coming out.
Lobby with a intense smell of some kind of deodorizer.

Facilities, location, historic value, cleanliness, friendly staff, wonderful valet
Bed was not comfortable and unfortunately we had loud and drunk neighbors one of the nights. Some people are very inconsiderate.

Beautiful hotel, great location. Comfortable bed, a must. Good breakfast. Lovely grounds and very nice staff. Bar. and restaurant were great. Great valet service. Excellent location!
Well, bathroom floor flooded from toilet. Shower was ok, but the faucet never stopped dripping. Mold on bathroom ceiling. After fixing the leak, the guy left several wet towels in a heap on the floor....and did not replace the towels. We came back to the room and we did not have clean towels but we did have a pile of wet soggy towels. I went and found a room maid who replaced the towels....

The historic appointments were expected and nice. The location was great for walking to interesting places.
We wished the restaurant was open in the evening. The largest dissatisfaction is from the courtyard being a smoking area. This was compounded by the stated policy that The Menger is 100% smoke free, which it was not. The crappy icing on this cake was the use of overpowering incense to cover up the cigarette smell.

Bed/pillows
The breakfast was delicious, hot and the staff were very friendly.
Size of the bathroom. The toilet was a bit tight between the wall and sink.

The location was great. We were able to walk to all the places we wanted to visit while in San Antonio. All the staff was very friendly and helpful when we needed information.
Since there was construction going on in front of the hotel. We didn't know how to get to the valet parking. The hotel should have directions on their website for the visitors to be able to get to the hotel. We had to call them when we were there to get the directions.

Convenient location, garden and pool areas, bar and restaurant on premises
My only real complaint was the shower. The water went from scalding hot to ice cold- repeatedly- every shower!

The hotel is very unique and well preserved
The room wasn’t clean. The pillows were uncomfortable. Few towels had stains on them.

The historic beautiful hall.
1. Internet connection was a nightmare and being in San Antonio for work, this was really inconvenient. No help from the staff who even wanted to give me the number of the internet provider to fix the problem.
2. Outside the window of my room a large fan made an intermittent deafening noise. Impossible to keep the window open during the night.
3. The room was not redone/cleaned for two days. I had to put out the sign asking for cleaning (the staff apologised because they had many guests)
4. The coffee/tea machine was leaking water and was unusable (I gave up asking the staff for anything)

loved the old hotel and the heritage!!!
I loved everything

Absolutely nothing except the fact that this place is a heritage hotel and has a lot of history being located at the historic Alamo .
We were very excited for the stay at this iconic hotel but some things ruined our experience so badly that we felt relief checking out.The AC/heater unit was not working, just some kind of stuffy damp warm air coming out of the vents. It got so suffocating for my wife who suffers from allergies that she fell ill because the airflow was very strange. The bath was so dirty with the marks of old bath mats and literal dirt coming out of the faucets. The drain net was absent. Was afraid that any insects from the drainage pipe should not come out of the bath.We contacted housekeeping to show the condition of bath, faucet and drain to get it fixed or usable. We kept waiting but even after 30 mins when they did not come, I again called and then the housekeeping manager himself came to see what the problem was. He said he will send someone and again no one came for 40-45 minutes. At this point we had lost our patience because we really wanted to take shower and head out for lunch. My wife again called and sternly asked them about the whereabouts and the housekeeping team was not even aware of our complaint. The carpet also was so damp almost wet which made walking bare feet unbearable and icky. My wife could not sleep all night because of the conditions of the room. So either all the rooms are in such a condition or we were assigned the worst room in the hotel . Never ever coming back here. It was literally a complete waste of money and ruined our entire experience here.

The Menger Hotel’s location is ideal. Part of the hotel is beautiful with its stained glass ceiling and atrium.
The room I stayed in was older. the bathroom door would not shut completely. It was be ry different from my stay in the other part of the hotel.

We are big history buffs, so we totally loved the fact that the Menger is practically a Rough Rider museum. We were in history heaven.
The heat failed on our last day, and it was pretty cold in our room when we woke up.
