Location. Near my mother's hometown. I had not visited since 1983. Friendly man at desk.
Ants. I noticed one on the marble desk soon after I arrived. I was distracted and tired, so I didn't ask for a new room. The next morning, I saw an ant on the clean white 2nd bed. I took a picture, then looked at the window frame near the desk, and took a picture of several ants. I showed the pictures to the lady at the desk before I left. She said she would take care of it and thanked me. I told her I understood. I live in Northern Maine, and there are ants. They get in. This is why I did not complain to the point of demanding a discount or refund.
The next morning, I woke up in the Quality Inn in Auburn, Maine. The back of my calf burned after I showered. I looked to find a previously unnoticed bite. This is why I can't give a higher rating.

not very clean. overwhelming smell of air freshener (covering up musty smell).
When I went to check into my room(for the first time) the door to my room was wide open with people milling about in the hall and the television was on in the room. I went to the desk and refused to take the room. The manager did change my room, however to be honest I never felt very safe.

We booked rooms at Quality Inn eight months in advance to attend our daughter’s college graduation. I called to confirm the reservation two weeks before check in. The day before our trip, Quality Inn called to tell me that they were over booked and would have to relocate our family to a Motel 6 another fifteen minutes away and in a different state. Although the staff member that called was very apologetic and Quality Inn paid for the rooms, it does not make up for the fact that we were put up at a run down Motel 6. The rooms were very small and dirty. Unfortunately, it was too last minute to find other accommodations. Overall, we were very disappointed with the treatment by Quality Inn and the replacement motel that they placed us in.
Tiny rooms, poorly maintained property, room keys failed to work multiple times, dead bolt did not work, beds were very uncomfortable

Great location and easy to find. Directly off the highway and many places to eat.
The dining area was clean and had many options for breakfast.
I requested extra pillows and they had the pillows in the room on arrival.
The room was not clean and hadn’t been vacuumed in ages. The bed spreads were old and had snags on them. The toilet ran and was extremely loud all night long. The locks on the inside of the doors were busted off and the table had a huge crack where it had broke that was glued back together. Both AM and PM attendants were not friendly and rude. I had to request to receive my $100 cash deposit returned when checking out. We also left our cell phone in the room when checking out, the concierge checked the room for damages and put the cell phone in the safe. She did not return it and we had to request for that to be returned. This location did not seem like people were visiting, but living on site. the Hallways smelt like mold and food being cooked constantly.

I liked that for a low budget place they actually seemed to have clean the room we stayed in.
It smelled like pure cigarettes throughout the halls, as did our room.
