The property and staff were excellent , especially Alex! The breakfast was always fresh and well prepared. Rooms were always well taken care of and the location in the center of Edgartown was within walking distance to everything .
The only issue real issue was the church bells going off at 7 am every morning, not a big deal tho
4.6
The proximity to everything. The hospitality
Liked everything

We loved Alison our hostess. She was cheerful, super accommodating and helpful in ever way. We will definitely come back soon. xx

Walls and floors are thin. Could hear guests thumping about upstairs
4.6
Clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Alison was excellent.
No workout facility. Could use a pool as well.

clean & comfortable

Great location close to everything , it’s a very short walk to the Church street bus station which has buses stopping at the ferries every 25 minutes, $7 for 2 beats the $30 taxis.
stayed in the Captain’s house which is very nice but could use refrigerators in rooms, you can keep leftovers in the main lobby refrigerator though.

location
1) hallway carpeting was stained
2) shower water temp kept changing as toilets were flushed; we had it fixed on Day 2 and it helped
3) staff is very young and doesn’t seem to be too experienced; they were friendly and helpful, but I never saw a hotel manager and no one was ever on front desk - a bell was placed on the desk to ring if guests needed help
For the cost of the room, I expected a far better experience; the price did not justify the experience

location
nothing. although breakfast room was slightly small
4.6
the location is fantastic. the building is charmingly quaint in its slightly lopsided way. we didn’t see much of the staff but that was fine. quality bathroom amenities. breakfast voucher super underwhelming and annoyingly offsite. but the location is so great these minor annoyances are forgotten: oh and nice outdoor area to sit and relax.
breakfast is up the road and you get a voucher which doesn’t cover the cost of a breakfast sandwich and a coffee. for the price of the room this was a bit tight.
4.6
Brilliant location, lovely staff and modern facilities
Noise from other rooms and also - due to gaps between the door and the frames - the corridor. Breakfast was fine but could be more substantial.
4.6
For a historic bed and breakfast, the room was shabby with minimal, poor quality furniture (for example, only one chair, dorm fridge on the floor). The bathroom was about 5ft by 5ft--ridiculously small. The room was above a noisy bar. For the price, this was completely unacceptable quality.
Furnishings were shabby. Breakfast area was too small and guests were scrambling for the meager offerings
4.6
Location and breakfast
No coffee or drinks facilities 24/7 in room or in open areas. Captains House was noisy and somewhat drab inside. The price didn't represent value for money. Staff dress code was not acceptable and manager not seen during our 2 day stay.

Breakfast was great, plenty of options. Cozy hotel, beautiful decor. Friendly staff

I had a wonderful 2 night stay at the Sydney over a long weekend in June. It was my birthday weekend and we enjoyed being in the heart of Edgartown. The hotel decor is great with an airy coastal vibe and I enjoyed having the outdoor patio to relax on in the evening and option to eat outside during breakfast.
Some of the furnishings are a little dirty and old. There were a few flying insects in my room at night and I could hear people in the room next door when I was trying to go to bed. Also, some of the staff weren’t that friendly and we overheard a couple booking an extra night for like $200 less than I had spent… it seemed unfair that the room rate would fluctuate so much. Was it worth $550 a night? I had hoped it would be, but you start to question that when someone else gets it for $350 the day of. Even with these negatives I would stay again.

Nice continental breakfast

Perfect location, great staff, clean nice charming rooms
Noisy- you can hear plumbing in the building, air conditioning units are super annoying and loud, you can hear everyone’s door slamming closed - avoid downstairs units. Hard to get a good nights sleep.
4.6
Beautifully decorated, pin clean, very comfortable beds & furniture, pleasant & airy common spaces, bike rack, quiet, great location. And delicious healthy breakfast!
Can't think of anything.

The hotel is top notch. The room was beautiful, comfortable and quiet. Breakfast consisted of small bites of savory and sweet concoctions. We didn't hunger for more. The staff was friendly and accomodating. The location in the heart of Edgartown allowed to walk to restaurants and shops. We would absolutely recommend a stay there.
No complaints

The staff, cleanliness, facilities, comfort, and the location was excellent
The only minor thing that I did not expect was to have our room outside of the main building - we were in the captains room
4.6
excellent staff, very welcoming and pleasant; stored luggage on departure day beyond closing time; good breakfast, well designed rooms, nice exterior (gas fire pit); short walk from bus & to city center
found a bit odd that the hotel is open only for weekends in off-season, but understandable. breakfast could have more (incl. warm) options - but was very good otherwise
4.6
Cleanliness, friendliness and attention to detail by staff; location, location, location!
Nothing!
4.6
Great location. Great facility. Nice breakfast.
Staff was not helpful. Didn't answer phone. Didn't have breakfast ready in morning. Part of problem everywhere, so hard to judge.
