A solid place to stay in Detroit Lakes

The woman running the free breakfast bent over to help us when we were late arriving to eat. We all still ate. We were deeply impressed with her. She is a gem.

Nice interim stop between North Dakota and Minnesota; scenery and area were as hoped.

The location was very good for our purposes; we were traveling from Fargo to MSP and it was an interesting place to see on the way. The breakfast was very good and having ice water readily available in the lobby is always welcome when traveling. Having shops nearby and the Lakeside Inn for dinner were very nice.

This is a great location, staff friendly, service requests could use a little attention.

The location was perfect for our stay.

We spent four nights at the hotel and requested a room refresh after the 2nd night (per instructions as daily service is not provided at this location) - also requested that the toilet be fixed as it wasn't flushing. I saw the associate at the front desk take down our room number and a maintenance associate was present and indicated that he would look at the toilet straight away. After being out of the room for the entire day (we returned about 10pm), the room had not been refreshed (I asked for new towels, toilet paper and tissues at the front desk) and then my husband flushed the toilet and it over-flowed all over the bathroom floor (apparently, the maintenance person just looked at it). At that point, I had to request a new room, which was promptly provided. In short, the process for requesting service is not working....

Staff was friendly and helpful; I wish we could have had housekeeping service.

I was surprised that we did not have housekeeping service for a four day stay. Also, it seems to me it was dishonest to claim that lack of housekeeping owed to '"COVID safety protocols". I would have preferred the honest answer, "We don't have housekeeping service because we are short of staff" along with a discount in the rate, owing to the lack of this service.

By the lake, quiet, comfortable bed

We stayed 6 days and received no room service at all. COVID restrictions across the country have been lifted so they could have at least emptied garbage and brought clean towels. There were no plastic bags in garbage cans so we had to get our own to even take garbage out of room . Breakfast on the weekend was good but very limited on weekdays. We paid too much for no service at all.
