I love the location and the concept of clay houses.
The welcome cold towel and fresh juice was amazing.
The cleaning was not the best and plug accessibility. I have request two times some information from reception and he never get came back to me.

De locatie was perfect en het zitgedeelte voor het ontbijt en de ligbedden waren geweldig.
Breakfast took 45 minutes and then it turned out they made the wrong dish.
4.0 / 10.0
Great location, beautiful gardens overlooking the ocean.
Staff are very friendly and helpful, but lots of them lack good English skills (at this price this should be better). Mosquito protection was readily provided upon request.
Bathroom door was fixed when requested.
Manager dealt with issues at the end.
The Standard Double Sea View cottage was US$110/ night which is way too pricey. I booked this for 5 nights as a relaxed stay after 2 weeks of travelling with friends, but there is no lounge area with comfortable chairs in the shade, or even hammocks or bean bags. Not that this was advertised, but should be expected at that rate.
The room itself is tiny, one side of the bed is approx. 40cm from the wall and has the aircon sticking out on top. There is no hanging space, not much surface space, no bedside tables. Light switches are opposite the bed at the door, which isn’t ideal once you’re under the mosquito net. The only plugs are behind the fridge, so the whole cupboard with fridge had to be moved to access the plugs. My adapter didn't fit the outdoor plug. The bathroom has no cupboards, nowhere to put any toiletries other than some space for shampoos by the shower. There is a bright light bulb at the mirror above the sink. Ants are busy working around the sink. There is no shower gel, only soap. The pipes in the bathroom leak, not much, but it's constantly wet and the dripping can be heard at night. I didn't mention this to anyone after reading the review about the stolen Ray Bans.
None of the photos on booking.com show that room, the interior photos are all of the family rooms. Room service only happens on request and then everything is replaced, rather than just quickly tidied. There is nobody around before breakfast, which starts at 8.30 with an average waiting time of 1 hour. I had much better breakfast in Sri Lanka for a fraction of the price. Not sure about lunch or dinner, there were occasional visitors, but it was never busy.
All in all this place lacks attention to detail and the Western standard the price suggests. Only men working here means a lack of the feminine touch missing in the design of the room, even though that's typical for Sri Lanka.

Very good location, close to restaurants and beaches. Beautiful view.
Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The room has no storing space, nowhere to hang your clothes or put your stuff.
The wifi was almost never working, they promised every day that this situation will pass, we stayed there for a week and it never started working. So if you need to work on your laptop, then this place is definitely not for you.
Be ready to wait for your breakfast at least 1-2 hours every morning. There were many times when people just left, because they could not wait any longer for their breakfast. There is no buffet, you need to order from the menu.
Also, the water pressure in the bathroom is very weak, so it takes a while to wash yourself.
Overall, unfortunately it is just not worth the money, it is relatably expensive and the facilities just do not add up to the price.

- the Sea View huts hold an amazing view over the water
- great location within hirikiteya between the two main beaches with both in walking distance
- the staff were very lovely and helpful for the issues we experienced
- stayed in a group; 1 x sea view and 1 x garden view. Unfortunately, upon arrival, there were large numbers of mosquitos in both rooms, including inside the mosquito net. After emptying a full can of bug spray, it settled within the sea view room but unfortunately they kept entering the garden view room. The staff flagged there was recent heavy waterfall and they were likely entering through the drain. Staff agreed that left that room inhospitable due to the sheer number however they were helpful to eventually organise alternative accomodation at a sister accomodation. The door to the garden view room also wasn’t locking.
- several occasions of power cutting out but this is likely Hirikiteya and not a fault of the accomodation. Just to be aware.
- wifi didn’t work optimally and struggled to receive good data coverage (again maybe a Hirikiteya thing, not accomodations fault - just to be aware)
- Garden view room does not capture the magic of the property - strongly suggest a sea view room.
- I’ll caveat this all by saying we only stayed one night. Remove the large number (easily 20-30 upon arrival) of mosquitos within the room and other issues may have been easier to overlook. Overall it’s a lovely property, staff are kind, just a few finesse issues. I would consider staying again in future as it’s a shame and the issues are not entirely within the accomodations control. Thank you to the staff for your help with our stay.

The accommodation in general was very nice, set in a peaceful and convenient spot. Very well maintained and clean with all the amenities you need. You can step into a beautiful and super safe rock pool right in the backyard of the hotel. I even found the perfect spot to do my morning meditations sitting on a rock overlooking the sea. The staff was friendly, kind, super helpful and very professional. They helped me out with WiFi so I could work without an issue. The place has their own cute restaurant, but is also located just a short walk away from Hiri's famous beaches and popular eateries. I'd definitely recommend a stay here. Definitely worth the money!!!

Very nice location, welcoming and nice staff. Restaurant area was beautiful. Beautiful view from the house with a nice little porch to sit. Good mosquito net.
The clay hut was quite small and there was nowhere to unpack your clothes. Also no shelf or anything in the bathroom. I just expected a little more comfort for the price. bad WiFi.

Beautiful location and lovely people.
very minor issues. It definitely wasn’t value for money as we had better expectations for a property at this price range. Drain in the toilets were clogged in out clay house, there was no room for bags, there was no shampoo provided (only soap) and breakfast was very limited. I believe a few of these minor issues should be easily resolved, it would be great

The Sea View Clay House is a hidden gem in Hiriketiya. The spot is incredible, and Kanchi and the rest of the team will make your stay unforgettable. They can arrange many things for you, from the diverse activities in the area to transfers to your next stop. Their kindness and care will make you feel right at home.
The house is perfectly located between the two beaches: Hiriketiya, perfect for surfing, and Dikwella, ideal for sunbathing and swimming. Set in a beautiful and peaceful spot with a stunning sea view, the House is the perfect place to enjoy amazing sunsets. The bungalows are charming, each with its own little terrace, the ones with sea views are worth every penny. The on-site restaurant serves yummy food from breakfast (don't miss the waffles!) to dinner, with Seafood, European and Srilankan specialties.
I spent a week at Sea View Clay House with my husband, and it was pure joy. We left with hearts full of happy memories and a yearning to return. So, if you're dreaming of an escape to paradise, look no further than Sea View Clay House!

Ich bin schon zum 3 mal in Sri Lanka und möchte sagen: „dass das die schönste Unterkunft ist, in der ich bis jetzt übernachtet habe.“
*Sauberkeit: 10 Punkte
* ein sehr gepflegtes Gelände
*Lage: 10 Punkte - zwischen Dickwella und Hiriketiya Beach.
* Das beste Frühstück: man kann zwischen Waffeln mit Eis und Obst, Porrage, Eier mit frischem Gemüse & Pancakes auswählen
*Das Personal ist sehr freundlich, auch zu den Kindern.

Sea View Clay House offers a dreamy escape with its stunning seafront location. Waking up to the gentle lull of waves and enjoying sunsets by the shore made every moment magical.
The resort's culinary expertise is a true highlight. From sunrise breakfasts to evening feasts, the diverse menu and fresh ingredients showcased the chef's mastery, turning each meal into a gastronomic delight.
Sea View Clay House excels in personalized service. The staff's flexibility and willingness to accommodate special requests added a personalized touch to my stay, making it stress-free and memorable.
Comfort meets style in the resort's well-appointed rooms. Thoughtful details and modern amenities provided a cozy retreat, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep after a day of exploration.
The resort's biggest asset is its warm and welcoming staff. From arrival to departure, their genuine hospitality created an inviting atmosphere, making me feel like an honored guest.
For an enchanting blend of seaside serenity, delectable dining, personalized service, and cozy accommodations, Sea View Clay House is a must-visit oasis.
Everything is great !

The team at the property were amazing, so helpful and attentive. The location was great, almost halfway between Hirriketiya and Dickwella beaches- easy to walk to both. There was an aircon on the room which was great and the bed was very comfortable. There is also an instantaneous hot water system which is good if you like a long shower. The seafood at the restaurant was so fresh and cooked beautifully, definitely work having dinner/lunch there while you’re there
Due to the temperature, there was many ants trying to retreat in the rooms just at the door (not amongst our things or in the bed), the team got onto it quickly though but it’s quite humid so the mosquitos are rife in the evenings- citronella candles/oil lanterns are brought around to help though

The view from our room was STUNNING! And the staff were super helpful and attentive. I would definitely stay here again!
The bed was a little hard for my liking but that really just comes down to personal preference.

We felt welcomed as soon as we arrived, the staff were friendly and very helpful. The view from the room was stuning. So relaxing sitting out the front of our room. The room was good! Included what we needed and was comfortable for a couple of nights. We had breakfast each morning, which was great! The walk to Hiriketiya was about 5 minutes, and a bit of a hill on the way back and it was about 2 minutes to Dickwella. Good position!

If you‘re looking for a laid back, quiet, stylish little house for yourself, this is your dream-getaway! From the very first moment, we felt like home! Our bungalow was clean, equipped with a fridge, A/C and other useful things. Charlie greeted us in the wonderful garden and brought us welcome-coconuts we could drink in front of the oceanic view. The staff was amazing- they were always making sure we had everything we needed and helped us making our stay the best stay ever. Breakfast was delicious! There is nothing we can complain about- we will definitely be back and can highliy recommend this place

Ocean front view
Poorly maintained grounds, cockroaches in rooms, staff that weren’t proactive or knowledgeable about the area. The on-site restaurant was closed (with no notice) and they were unable to provide recommendations for food.

This was a beautiful guesthouse right on the seafront (but not the beach). It was a 5 min walk from Hiriketiya beach and a 1 min walk from Dikwella beach. The room was clean and comfortable and had a nice veranda, as well as grounds with a good view of the sea. It’s run by a bunch of friendly guys who gave us advice about the local area.
There were 3 of us in a family room but the room was a little small without much space to put our bags. Other than this everything was great.

Staff was very attentive and did their best to host us well :)
The stay is well located and close to a great beach to surf.
As a westerner, we are not used to the bathroom being "open" to the room. Although we do know this is super common in Sri Lanka, we would have felt more comfortable if the door for the bathroom would close from top to bottom (no gaps) so no odors or noises would transfer to the room. It would also be nice to have a better levelling difference on the bathroom floor or a curtain, so the water from showering wouldn't make the entire bathroom floor wet.
Hotel was also a biiiiit hard to find at first. Address/directions on Google Maps and Booking.com could be improved. Maybe add reference points on the directions or a more attention grabbing signage on the road.

We stayed in an ocean facing bungalow, the view was absolutely stunning. The place is half way between Hiriketiya (beach and surf) and Digwella (beach, sunset, Smokes& Bitters) - about 5 minutes walk in each direction, perfect! Very calm and quiet. Did not have breakfast but had a seafood barbecue dinner and the food was excellent
The property entrance sign looks really outdated (badly photoshopped photos) and does not do it any justice

Located at the sea but due to rocks you cannot enter the beach. You have to walk 5 minutes over the main road. Only late breakfast (09.00)

Great location. The clay huts are clean and simple. Amazing view of the sea from our room with a private porch area to sit & watch the waves. Walking distance from both Dikwella & Hiriketiya beaches and there are loads of bars and restaurants nearby. We ate dinner there twice - the whole fish is delicious - and breakfast was tasty & very generous.
Special shout out to the staff - my wife developed an allergic reaction while we were there (nothing to do with the place) and a member of staff took us to the local medical centre and got her a very quick appointment with the doctor. Another member of staff also brought her some fresh aloe vera from his garden to help her skin. Thank you!

The location was gorgeous
Breakfast took a really long time to arrive and our the food served in the evening was a bit disappointing. This seems to be out of sync with other guests’ experiences so perhaps we had a dud couple of days.

A great place to stay that is away from the main beaches but only a short walk! Would recommend a sea view hut. Breakfast was delicious and in a great location.
The bathroom is quite basic, but to be expected in a hut!
