Everything about the whole experience was quality. The hosts the facilities and the food. If you want to visit Torquay there is no better place than this.
There was nothing we did not like it was one of the best places we have stayed at through Booking.com over the last 5 years.

After going to many hotels throughout the week on our road trip, we were instantly satisfied with the big driveway to park on.
As we approached the front door, the owner (John) greeted us and showed us in - already knowing our names from the bookings.
Whilst checking in we got into a big conversation about the best places to go/see locally which we found incredibly useful as we have never visited Torquay before.
Once we checked in we head into our room and it was incredibly clean/nicely laid out/great toiletries and confectionaries, also included a booklet which laid out previous visitors reviews of the local restaurants/bars - once again really useful !
After unpacking we head down to the in-house bar and ordered ourselves a couple of drinks to take out into the beautiful garden.
The sleep was incredibly easy in such a comfortable bed and quiet environment.
In the morning we head downstairs into the dining area and had breakfast - completely fresh ingredients with options for both veggie and non veggie. Was by far the best breakfast I've ever had at any form of hotel establishment.
After breakfast, the owners John and his wife Jane were more than happy to have a long chat with us and make us feel more than welcome
Some rooms including ours only have bathtubs without the option of a shower. However, other rooms do have the availability of a shower so make sure you choose your room wisely if this bothers you.
Due to the grade listing of the building (very old) the owners do not have much freedom in terms of construction etc so they do not have double glazing and the nights can get cold, but they do supply you with little plug in heaters to combat this.

John and Jane were excellent hosts and very interactive with all guests. The breakfasts were lovely and contained local produce which is of credit to them both. Parking was easy and on site. The Haytor is really close to the harbour and local restaurants. You will not be disappointed at the range of local food available.
Our room was smaller than expected but this was a last-minute booking with limited availability at the time.

Very good hotel close to the town

The hotel is just a short walk from the town centre. A slight incline in the road does favour people with no mobility issues, but Torquay is quite hilly anyway. Easy and free onsite parking. Hosts were very welcoming and friendly. Tea and cake on arrival...lovely! We were upgraded from our small double and had a view over the lovely garden. The room was a nice size, the bed comfy and the ensuite shower room was well laid out. Breakfast was lovely and the cooked breakfast was cooked to order. Although we didn't use the bar it is a nice addition, giving an option for a relaxing bottle of wine in comfortable surroundings.
Nothing. Everywhere was spotless. It was a nice stay.

Arrived in the middle of worst storm for a decade to a very friendly welcome from the owner. Very comfortable and beautifully clean, well equipped room. Decor obviously newly done and in a very elegant style to match the lovely old building. We cannot say enough about the full English breakfast-cooked to order with a wide variety of choices. Quality ingredients and the skill of the chef made for a lovely start to the day. Excellent location. We had a sea view.
There was nothing to dislike.
