About this villa rental
The Best holiday home! We have owned it for 17 years now and whilst our lives have changed with the addition of young children to our family, our holidays have just got better every year. The house is very large with about 250 M2 of space internally and a different balcony or patio for each day of the week! Its perfect for entertaining or just chilling out!
Downstairs there are two lounges, one with the TV and DVD set up, the other based around a fireplace with the dining room leading off behind. The kitchen is fully fitted and has a breakfast bar area as well.
The master bedroom is huge with a sumptuous en suite bathroom, there is another two en-suite bedrooms and then two shared bathrooms for the third double and twin bedded room.
Outside, the ten metre pool has has a grass surround at the lower lever with the larger larger upper level laid as patio for barbecues, eating outdoors or just enjoying the beautiful sunsets!
Plus an auto-double garage and full security ADT throughout.
The new water restrictions for Camps Bay and the whole city mean that we ask all guests to adhere to the rules in place at the time of your holiday. Everyone is having to do their bit at this difficult time until a long term solution can be found but we have found so far that guests have been able to enjoy their holidays and understand the problem and enjoy trying to help.
Bedroom no 5: We are now able to offer the house as a five bedroom house which can sleep 12 adults or children plus the additional use of a travel cot. The great thing about it is that the house is big enough to accommodate this number thanks to its huge living areas both inside and outside the house. The prices we advertise however do not include the use of the 5th bedroom because we know that the average number of guests is between 4-8 people and so to assume parties of 12 would make it too expensive for for smaller groups to consider. So if you require a big house for family or friends this is definitely for you!
To explain fully, the 'new' 5th bedroom used to be the maids room, accessed only from the rear patio but it now has direct access from the breakfast room. So while it has its own ensuite shower room (the 5th bathroom in the house) it would be the only room without direct views of either the sea or the mountain. But it remains a decent double bedroom so please don't be put off using it.
Lastly - security. It is a question we are often asked but we are lucky to benefit from these features at the house:
1. Alarm system with armed response ADT
2. Neighborhood watch response
3. CCTV – exterior only
4. Electric fence on front wall
5. LCD intercom system
6. High security door locks on main entrance and exit doors

It’s a really lovely house, pool is great, lovely and warm. Philly is fabulous. The road is located so close to Camps Bay beach but because it’s not on the main drag you wouldn’t know it, it’s really quiet - so super location. The house has all most modern conveniences, and is very secure. A few things that would make a dramatic improvement, is aircon in the bedrooms, it’s just too hot upstairs. Blackout blinds as you do find yourself waking up very early even with eye patches, and the patio doors to the master bedroom when it’s windy and it’s frequently windy, making it hard to sleep, even with ear plugs. Finally the TV sofa probably needs new cushions to sit on! But these are all relative because we had a wonderful time!

We travelled as a group of 7. The location was very central and the Uber rides were cheap to get anywhere. The property manager was friendly and knowledgeable. We had no power for one day. But when we discussed it with Philly, the issue was remedied. Overall a nice spacious property.

This place has everything you'd want from a Camps Bay house- lovely (very big!) house with great rooms, excellent views from multiple balconies and terraces, a lovely pool and it's only about 5 minutes walk away from the main strip in Camps Bay. We had a group of 11 with little kids and teenagers and everyone loved the house, with ample space for us all to spread out without getting into each other's hair. They also have a solution for the issue of load-shedding, which means that apart from not being able to use the electric cooker, the house (and wifi) were able to keep going through the electricity cuts.
All in all this was an excellent place to stay and I'll definitely be back!

spacious comfortable home with stunning view in a convenient, safe area
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this clean, comfortable house with the bonus of a pool to cool down in at the end of a day of touring lovely Cape Town. Housekeeper Philomina kept everything in order, which made our holiday even more relaxing. Thank you to all!

Just finished our week’s holiday at Ocean Sweep. It is a fabulous family home with everything we needed to enjoy a relaxing multi-generational family trip. The house is really spacious and well appointed with wonderful views over the bay.
There are lots of lovely sitting areas and a great pool so everyone can find the space to relax or be together as the mood takes them.
If you want to eat in, it has everything you need but if you prefer to dine out it’s only a short walk down to the buzzing strip of Camps Bay which is full of lively and delicious restaurants.
Camps Bay makes an excellent base for visiting Cape Town and the surrounding areas.
We were really well looked after by the delightful Philomena who couldn’t have been nicer. Charl was also brilliant and sorted any problems out immediately (of which there were only a couple of small ones like a temperamental safe!).
I would recommend this house to anyone and would definitely come again.

We stayed for 6 nights as a group of seven adults. The house is spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed using the BBQ on the evenings we were at home. The views across the bay are spectacular - particularly so when sitting with a sundowner! A maid was available to come in every day - she came to us alternate days which meant the house was beautifully clean and tidy. At the time of our visit there were strict water regulations. This meant taking two minute showers and collecting as much water as possible in the shower in a bucket for re-use. We drank bottled water which was plentiful, so no real problems. There was a very high wind one night which triggered the alarm about 6am with a prompt and reassuring attendance by the armed response team. It is a ten minute walk downhill to the front and the beach. An Uber is very cheap and easy if you prefer not to walk back up hill! We drove into Cape Town and parked easily in the car park at the V&A Waterfront. Altogether we had a great time and would thoroughly recommend both this house and Camps Bay.

Amazing house, Amazing location, Amazing Cape Town
The house is exactly as described (not always the case when renting properties) and we loved it so much we are already looking to book again for the same period next year. The location is great - a 10 minute stroll down to the beach and the restaurants and bars in Camps Bay but also only a 15 minute drive over the hill and into Cape Town and all the the V&A Waterfront. The house has everything you need and the views are simply breathtaking - Lions Head to the side and Table Mountain and the 12 Apostles behind the house - I could sit there all day and just stare at that view. The house is safe, secure and alarmed - the alarm did go off the very first night as we had left some washing on the line at the back of the house - it was quite windy and this set it off. We immediately received a phone call from the security company and their personnel were ringing the doorbell within 5 minutes to check everything was ok. From booking right through to departure, communication with the owner and Charl the manager was fantastic and we loved having Philomena, the housekeeper, around to help keep the house spotless and tidy and also answer any questions we had. I can't recommend this property enough.
4.7
Great location and spacious house with nice seimmingpool and sitting area. Unfortunately no AC in the bedrooms. A little bit irritating with the "houselady" we hired that she did not understand during the days how to give us some privacy: she always did her ironing etc in the middle of the family/children looking at TV in the living room/kitchen. She also used the washingmachine in the kitchen for her private laundry.
4.7
The staff and property manager were on hand when needed which was good as the dishwasher blew up on day 1! Accommodation standard was ok but needs a lick of paint everywhere and new curtains in some of the bedrooms to actually block light out. On the whole a pleasant stay

Speachless...Wow
This place is absolutely amazing. The house/villa is perfectly situated and easy to get to many places around Cape Town.
The views are absolutely brilliant from the house. My favourite was watching the sun setting into the open sea right in front of me. Definitely the best way to send your evenings (with a lovely glass of wine in your hand :-) )
The house itself is in very good condition, clean, smart and well cared for. You feel very relaxed there.
Patrick (the owner), Charl (999 in your right hand) and the cleaning ladies all are so helpful and supportive and will all go to great lengths to make sure you have a stress free holiday.
Have I mentioned the SPACE... it is such a spacious place. It does not show in the pictures but you will be pleasantly surprised on arrival.
We hired a car and collected it from the airport, and that was handy coz it gave us the freedom to drive down the coast and visit place like Boulders Bay and Gordon's bay, so that's a good idea.
The security is really good as well, you really feel safe.
Camps Bay is a lovely place as well as easy to get around. From the villa, its just 10 minutes stroll to the shops and bars (ladies, there is a nail salon, hair salon, massage place just down by the traffic lights in the building on the right).
But best of all, the beach is just 10 minutes stroll from the house, how brilliant is that.
We went as a big family, 9 adults and 3 children, and we all loved it. The kids absolutely loved the space and the swimming pool and most of all the beach.
We would all 100% recommend this house/villa.
We will also be returning soon xxx

We came from Boston to visit our daughter studying at the University this semester. We had never been to Cape Town and were blown away by its beauty. We also have never rented from VRBO, and our experience was perfect! I would highly recommend this house. It was great for the college kids to come over and hang! We barbecued one evening and had a lovely meal out on the patio. From almost every bedroom one can lie in bed and see the beautiful ocean. The breath taking mountains are above us, and we used uber for all of our transportation. The walk down to the village of Camps Bay was easy and we often went to dinner there. Recommend Cod Father for a delicious fish dinner...it is at the bottom of Camps Bay Road to the right.
The staff was five star. We welcomed back beautiful Philomena who just arrived from maternity leave. We saw photos of her new baby Chloe, and her 8 year old daughter Natalie. Her cousin, Precious took good care of us in the mean time as we had her over to freshen the house a few times. Charl, the house manager, checked in with us routinely...and was very very receptive when the hair dryer blew! We could not have been given better attention. The kindness and attention to detail from all was exemplary.
The pool was chilly but swimmable...the house is set up for a large crowd and very "kid" friendly...with a high chair and crib if needed. There are plenty of bathrooms, and lots of open space along with large tables for dining. The only advice I would give to a large group is that there is a washing machine but no dryer. So plan accordingly as it will take a day for laundry to wash if the sun is not out.
We hope to return with our elder daughter some day. We will miss this place as it is a secret jewel. Thank you to Patrick as well for being so receptive about the need for WIFI. It too was seamless...and both my husband and I were able to keep our businesses going from six hours away and two continents. Had that not worked in the manner they had promised, we would have experienced high stress.
Sadly we leave today, and again, Charl was incredibly generous about making sure we had no pressure getting out of here. I cannot say enough about how happy , delightful, and comfortable our stay was here in Paradise.

We had 8 nights in this wonderful house. Extermely large and spacy with all the comforts you would want. Charl the caretaker couldn't have been more helpful and went out of his way to assist with our stay both before and after our stay. Was always on call for any issues. Philomenia the housemaid was also a great addition to our stay. Both people really made our stay more enjoyable. House is very secure with alarm system so nothing to worry about. About 800 meters walk down to the Camps Bay shopping area/restaurnats. (excellent choices) 8 days - too much to do - will return again another day. TIP - if you are coming to Cape Town/South Africa - bring your old clothes you do not need anymore and give them to the people that you could really help out!!!! They are very grateful for anything you can give.

We have stopped in many houses in South Africa and Ocean View was amongst the very best. We were only 5 people so had lots of room and this place would be ideal for groups up to 10. Views of sea and mountains and benefits from good outside sun bathing areas and pool. House well equipped and great for children as quite open plan so not constrained. Charl the local manager very helpful and stand in maid Charity very efficient.
Location is excellent and safe for SA and we walked down to the coast road and caught taxi back up.
Would definitely return when friends join us in Camps Bay again.

Beautiful family home
The house was everything it promised. We hired it for a family holiday with 3 generations present to celebrate the wedding of our daughter. We had a pre and post wedding bbq for 30 people and there was plenty of space on the deck and inside. The kitchen was well equipped too for a large group.
The pool was clean and enjoyed by us all. We employed Philomena to help out with cleaning and tidying up. She was a delightful person and a pleasure to have around. Charl, the manager, was also a charming character and responded to our queries quickly.
The property has some steep stairs leading to it which my 86 year-old mum struggled with.
We highly recommend this property.

A 5 Star rating for a positive attitude!
I am fortunate enough to be able to spend a lot of time travelling !
At times circumstances, not of one’s fault, make it difficult to keep arrangements as planed and one is obliged to cancel or alter bookings as originally planned!
This can cost a lot !
This occurred with a booking I made with Patrick Arnold for his house in Camp’s Bay !
After having transferred the funds to Patrick, the airline changed the flight schedule which made it difficult for me to be in CT on the set day.
Patrick accepted my good faith and thanks to his goodwill, he found a solution which avoided a loss of important funds for my group!
I wanted to mention this! It’s good to know that you are dealing with a real “ gentleman“!
On my next trip I hope to stay in Patrick’s lovely house which is so well situated !

Spacious house with a superb location
We celebrated x-mas and New year 2014 in this house. A bunch of Norwegians; 4 adults and 8 children aged from 17 til 5 years old. We also had guests in the house as we know people in the area. The house felt spacious and never crowded even though we were up to 20 people. The house has a very nice pool and the outside area has a nice view and it`s great to gather there during the day or barbeque in the evenings. Lovely Philomena was a great help in our chaos, she kept the house nice and clean. Charl, the onsite manager, was very helpful and responded immediately when we had questions. Both very, very nice and helpful. The Camps Bay area feels safe and the beach is just a short walk from the house. If you like running and walking it is really nice to run to the foot of Table mountain. Besides good exercise the trip offers magnificent views over Camps Bays. As Cape Town lovers we loved the view to Lions Head and the Twelve Apostles from the house. Patrick, the owner, provided really good customer service. We have already recommended this property to friends and family. We would love to come back.

Beautiful home with panoramic view of Camps Bay
We were a family of seven from the UK which stayed at the property for our wedding in Stellenbosch last October. The property matched our expectations and more, the pictures really don’t do it justice, the outside “braii” area was perfect for inviting family & friends over in the evening for sundowners and food, it easily accommodated almost 30 of our friends & family for a pre wedding get together. The rooms are spacious & well decorated and the house is situated away from any main roads so traffic noise isn’t an issue. There is a great veranda which the front 3 bedrooms of the property open out to which provide spectacular views of camps Bay.
Which brings me on to the area itself, if you haven’t already been to Camps Bay then it really is in my opinion the best place to stay whilst visiting Cape Town, it’s close to the CBD and within driving distance of all the main attractions, Chapman’s peak, cape point etc really aren’t far away. The sea front community is probably one of the safest parts of cape town which you can stay in. My family did have some concerns about south Africa in general after hearing some horror stories but were pleasantly surprised at how safe & friendly the locals are. The main strip has some great bars and restaurants, the lobster linguine in the local Italian was die to for and cheaper than the cost of fish & chips for 2 back home!
All in all I’d thoroughly recommend staying at the property, you really won’t be disappointed, it made what was a memorable occasion even more special for us. One final thing, the maid Philomena is fantastic & friendly, she kept the house ship shape & definitely worth investing in having during your stay.

Beautiful home in excellent location
Myself and a few friends stayed at this beautiful home during our 3 week holiday. I can't stress enough how much we loved staying here. The house was clean and spacious and the location was excellent. Communication with Patrick the owner and Charl the manager was fantastic, and Philommena the housekeeper was also very friendly. It was extremely easy getting around on foot as everything was conveniently close by. Already looking forward to our next stay at the beautiful Ocean's Sweep. Thank you so much for having us!
4.7
Excellent value - needs a little tender loving care
This is a very spacious, well equipped house, in an excellent location with great views. It represents good value for money. Pictures etc reflect fairly the actual property. As a family of 6, we enjoyed our stay here, very convenient for the city centre, waterfront or to head off to Cape Point. We stayed in August so it was too cold to properly enjoy the pool, but it is a substantial size. Our car (10 seater Quantum) could not fit in the garage but we could still park off street in the drive way. An earlier review says there are only 2 hot showers, this is not correct - there are 4 working hot showers (you do have to wait a minute or two for the hot water though).
The 5th bedroom is much smaller than the others - but perfectly usable. However it was cold at night, with no source of heating.
I've only given it four stars as the house needs a modest bit of attention to sort out the "little things" eg broken light fittings, missing plugs, a bit of redecoration here and there. Nothing major to truly impact on your stay, but not quite as it should be.
Having said that, do not be put off renting this property - we were very happy staying here and I recommend it.
4.7
Good location, basic but definitely not luxurious
This rental was less than "luxurious" as was described (it seems as if the description has now changed since we stayed), and the amenities were not as described. The house felt "tired." Be careful of this rental if you are not British or South African. The owner had difficulty with exchange rates and is set up only to work with these two currencies. On the good side, the house is very spacious with good views from many of the rooms. Lots of room outside the house, and good kitchen/dining space. Internet access was very strong and that was an important point for us. Owner responds quickly. Less desirable: the description indicated that there were five bedrooms, but we were shown only four as one is often used for storage. We expected four showers, however, there were only two stand up showers with hot water. One runs only cold water & one is a hand shower in a bathtub. The house is in need of repair; the paint on the ceilings was coming/wearing off, the shower curtain rod in the master bath is cheap and fell each time the curtain was drawn, and the towels, sheets, etc. are old and very used--not "luxurious" by any means. No soap or toilet paper in bathrooms; caretaker and cleaning lady had to contact owner to authorize purchase of them even tho they were listed as amenities. It felt like a struggle to get any "basic" items. We understood this to be self-catering, but soap and toilet paper should be standard and furnished in a "luxurious house." A misunderstanding regarding the daily cleaning service was costly, so be very explicit with the owner about how this is done. We ended up paying out of pocket for two days of cleaning IN ADDITION TO the cleaning fee after our stay. The contract stated one price and the owner said we needed to pay a different price. We had to argue with the owner to reduce the cleaning to the contracted amount. The other issue we had with this property is that the owner wanted the deposit early in Sept. for the house we rented in the first part of February, with full payment due 4 weeks before we arrived. In general, we found this rental to be highly challenging because we were not British or South African. I suggest that if you choose to rent this property, be VERY explicit with all details of the rental, cleaning, and general amenities.

Spacious and Lovely home in the heart of Camps Bay
Lovely 4 + bedroom executive home in the heart of Camps Bay SA. Situated on a lovely hillside overlooking the bay-a 10 minute stroll away, yet Table Top Mountain and downtown Capetown are less than a 15 minute drive away. House was suitably clean and kept that way by the optional daily maid/cleaning service.
The home was well equipped and quite comfortable for up to 10 people sharing accommodation. Represents excellent value for the money. Would gladly revisit, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to other large parties looking for accommodation in or around the Capetown area.
4.7
wonderful & spacious family destination
We spent two weeks in early March at the "Ocean Sweep" for a fantastic holiday in Camps Bay/Cape Town. As other reviewers have noted, the house is extremely large and very comfortable for groups and families -- we were 5 adults and 2 children and significantly appreciated the size of all bedrooms, bathrooms and living space. There are wood floors throughout the main floor which were great for the kids to play. We loved the outdoor patio with BBQ and pool for cooking, enjoying wine and watching the spectacular sunsets.
The owner, Patrick, is extremely friendly and communicative - he even organised cleaning for the week, which was a wonderful additional luxury. He and his family also use the house so he makes every effort to keep it in good working order (with the help of a local property mgmt company).
The house has a large two car garage and we believe a car is definitely needed for the stay, both to explore the city and to take runs for groceries, etc. Yes, the walk to/from the beach is quite strenuous but it required exercise for all the eating we seemed to do!
All in all a great holiday in a stunning city from a very functional home.
