About this cottage rental
Lilybank is a traditional detached cottage found in a quiet corner of Fort Augustus, a popular and picturesque village at the south end of Loch Ness. It boasts lovely views across the River Oich and out into Loch Ness yet is only a 5 minute walk from the centre of the village with all its pubs, hotels, cafes and restaurants. Being in the centre of the highlands it is perfect for exploring the East and West coasts, both easily reachable for a day out, whilst having plenty to offer in and around the surrounding area. Spend a day on the Isle of Skye, or whale watching off the beautiful beaches around Arisaig; visit historic castles and monuments; drive through stunning glens with lochs and forests and wildlife; follow the mountain trails by bike or by foot; play golf, fish, go white water rafting, canoeing, or just relax and take in the incredible views and culture. Inverness, the capital of the Highlands is an hour away and is a bustling city with great shopping and amenities, whilst Fort William, an hour south of the cottage, offers the opportunity for skiing or climbing on the Nevis Mountain Range.

Lovely cottage in great location on the banks of where River Oich enters Loch Ness and two minutes walk from Fort Augustus village centre. Cottage was very clean and comfortable and check-in and out was easy. Lucy the property owner was lovely to deal with and very helpful and it was a privilege to stay at her property which I know has been in her family for generations. Alison and Dave the property manager s were lovely and really helpful too. Thank you to you all for helping to make our holiday such a great one. We honestly couldn’t find a nicer place to stay and I very much hope we will be able to stay there again in the near future..

We loved our week stay at Lilybank. The house was spacious, clean and had everything we needed. The yard and the area surrounding the house was quiet but in 2 minutes walking you are in the middle of the small town. The kids loved watching all the boats passing through! We enjoyed lots of trips in the area: Jacobite train, Inverness, Uruquart castle and hiking in Glen Coe and Alt na Criche. Would highly recommend!

Felt at home straight away. Ideal location in quiet, rural area. Comfy beds, plenty of space for the five of us inside and out, cleanliness throughout. Lovely watercolour oaintings throughout the property. Were these paintings done by a family member ? Lovely to watch wildlife from the window and to get visits from the friendly neighbouring cat.

This cottage certainly lived up to our expectations. The location was perfect with a short enjoyable walk along the river into the village and you could spend hours gazing at the views from any window. Cannot recommend Lilydale highly enough.

Fantastic home. Spacious, clean, comfy, and in a superb location. All amenities are modern and in good condition. From there it's easy to explore the western isles, Cairngorms, Inverness, and Loch Ness areas. Host was easy to contact and instructions were clear and accurate. When checking out, asks guests to remove bedding, towels, bath mats and put in bag; take all trash to the bins; take glass recycling to town car park; clean wood stove if used. Overall a gem!

We stayed here the first week of September, myself, my husband and son (18 months) plus my husband's parents. It was the perfect property for us all, we had plenty of room and the property had everything we could need so we could enjoy cooking a variety of meals. It's the most amazing location with beautiful views, and we were so lucky with the weather, being able to enjoy sunny afternoons/warm evenings in the garden. It was suitably located for us to easily drive to our destinations, with Inverness and Fort William being about 1 hour drive away.
I could not recommend this place enough, especially for a larger family/two couples as the two double bedrooms are either side of the house, so you don't feel on top of each other. Thank you for sharing this wonderful place with others.

The property was as described. Had everything we needed for our 2 week stay. Large enough to allow us to have family stay for the weekend. 2 large doubles and a lovely twin room. It was great having the en-suite in the main bedroom and separate bathroom for guests, plus a downstairs toilet. Very comfy beds, cosy sittingroom and the kitchen diner is where we spent most of our time when in the house. Shops, pubs and eateries were all within easy walking distance. The house is situated at the end of lane by the river in an extremely quiet area with beautiful views. Woke up every morning to birdsong. Good parking area for 2 cars. Really nice place to stay, we will certainly be back again. Thank you. Kind Regards, M & S Burgess, Shetland.

Lily bank is well situated for access to Fort Augustus. The house does need some repair to the TV as the arial is damaged and we were unable to watch the TV even if we wanted to. It was good to see the grass getting cut for the first time when we were there, as the garden was looking very unkempt. when we arrived. The beds were very comfortable and all slept well during the week. Some of the crockery might need updating but that did not stop us from enjoying of week in Lilybank.

A wonderful cottage! It was clean, warm and well located in the village of Fort Augustus.
We stayed here for 4 Nights in November with our dog and the large enclosed garden was perfect for her. Just a minuets walk off the main road so it was nice and peaceful but not too far away from the local shop, which had every thing we needed.
A relaxing little holiday in a stunning location.

We had a fabulous time at Lilybank. The house is very special and charming and the location is absolutely wonderful. Mesmerising river views and such peace and quiet!
There was everything we needed in the house, which was spotless, confortable and warm.
The owner kept in touch by email and was always most kind.
A perfect location to go for local walks or for day trips.
We hope we will have the chance to stay here again in the future.

We stayed 7 days at Lilybank and had an amazing time. The house was just right for our family of 5 (aged 11, 9 and 6) The kids absolutely loved the garden. Plenty of space to run around and play. Being the last house on the road it was quiet and safe. My kids loved finding the slow worms in the grass everyday basking in the sun. Centrally located in Fort Augustus, it was the perfect location for those who don’t mind taking day trips as most things we wanted to do where only 45mins- 1 hour and half hours drive. The town of Fort Augustus is quaint with plenty to do if you don’t want to travel far. The local butcher was great for hot bun breakfast and the local garage had plenty of selection for general food for those cooking at home. It was an all around great holiday and I highly recommend anyone wanting to stay. We are looking forward to going back in the future.

Wow what a fantastic cottage in a fabulous location right on the banks of Loch Ness.
Dispute the best efforts of storm Dennis we found this huge yet cosy cottage the perfect little hideaway for our first visit to the Highlands. The house has loads of room and is equipped with everything you could possibly needs.
A stones throw from the village centre of Fort Augustus where there was plenty of amenities yet far enough away that you can fully relax with no disturbances.
The cottage owner was really helpful and ensured that there was lots of guides, leaflets and information about things to do. We received a lovely welcome pack including local delicious and logs for the fire.
Whilst here we visited Inverness only 50mins up the road where we found a City Center full of shops and restaurants and only a few miles further on some of the most amazing Scottish beaches.
Highly recommended in the winter months are the Ben Nevis Range gondolas, we ventured up 650m of the mountain and had a fantastic day sledging in the snow.
Also visited was the beautiful Falls of Foyer, thanks to Storm Denis the falls where incredible and again we experienced some of the most wonderful scenic views on route to there, approx 20mins from the cottage by car.
Walks along the Loch and Canal are a must and allowed us to view the countryside and mountain ranges.
Our party consisted of four children, two adults and our dogs. We were all made to feel extremely welcome and we all loved the trip, the cottage and the area.
We can’t recommend Lillybank Cottage highly enough. If you get the chance you must book it.
Thanks Lillybank and Lucy and we will see you again.

Thank you for sharing your stunning property with us. The rooms were beautifully decorated, warm and cosy. The beds were very comfortable, we actually found them hard to get out of in the morning. The house was well equipped with everything you need, including plenty of games to play in the evenings. We would love to go back again in the summer. A special thank you to Lucy who was flexible with our nights after our ferry was cancelled on the day we were due to arrive.
