About this house rental
The Lodge By The Lake is a charming, pet-friendly, 2 bedroom, timber lodge situated on, arguably, the best pitch on the park, right by the fishing lake in the tranquil area known as Amberwood, at the 5* rated Shorefield Holiday Park near Milford-on-Sea, Hampshire. The Lodge By The Lake is one of only three lodges situated right on the fishing lake. If fishing's your thing, this is the place for you! If fishing is not for you, just admire the view and soak up the tranquility from the sunny deck! The spacious main bedroom has a king size bed, 2 bedside cupboards, a large wardrobe and vanity unit. The twin room has 2 full size single beds, separated by one bedside cupboard. There is also ample storage space in the wardrobe. Additionally, there is a collapsible cot-bed for babies/toddlers. The newly refurbished bathroom has a walk-in shower, toilet, wash basin, storage cupboard and heated towel rail. The open plan lounge/dining area is very light and spacious with 2 sofas, a round dining table with 4 chairs, Smart TV with Freeview, Netflix etc and separate DVD player. The kitchen has everything you need to self-cater, including a fridge, freezer, gas oven and hob, microwave, oven, toaster and kettle as well as cutlery, crockery and utensils. There is an on-site laundromat. The spacious new deck has a comfortable sofa and 2 chairs as well as an outdoor dining table, 4 chairs and umbrella. The deck looks out over the tranquil fishing lake, just 10ft away. There are several fishing stages around the lake. Further, the whole park benefits from free WiFi. The signal in and around the lodge is excellent. There really is nothing better than relaxing on the deck in the sun with a glass of Prosecco, watching fish jump out of the water, gazed at by herons as still as statues... There is parking for 2 cars right outside and it is a leisurely 10 minute stroll to the entertainment complex.
Shorefield Country Park itself is a fabulous 5 star rated holiday park set in 100 acres of delightful landscaped parkland. It's a perfect location positioned between the stunning New Forest, with its free-roaming ponies, donkeys and cows, and some fabulous beaches. The park is close to the pebbley beach at Milford on Sea (10 minute walk from the lodge) and just a couple of miles from the heart of the New Forest National Park. Attractions nearby include Highcliffe Castle, Avon Beach, Mudeford Quay, Beaulieu Motor Museum, Hurst Castle and the towns of Lymington, Christchurch and Bournemouth, with its famous sandy beaches, piers and attractions. Just a short drive away, a fantastic, quiet, sandy beach awaits you at Barton-on-Sea or a little further on, Avon Beach, with full facilities as well as the marvellous “Noisy Lobster” beach restaurant.
Just a 10 minute stroll from our lodge, out the back pedestrian entrance of the park, you will be on the cliff at Milford-on-Sea where you can gaze across the water to the Isle of Wight and the Needles giving an impressive backdrop to any day on the beach. If you’re staying for a few days, a day trip to the Isle of Wight from nearby Lymington is well worth it.
Shorefield park has great entertainment for all ages. Cyril and Cybil, the resident squirrels, and their friends Pat the Pony and Woof the Dog, provide endless joy for the younger holidaymakers with kids entertainment every evening during holidays and at weekends throughout the year in the Showbar. There are also both childrens and adults games arcades.
For the more active, there is a superb indoor pool with beach area for young children, poolside sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi. A full range of treatments are available in the day spa and, for the more energetic, there is a fully equipped gym and classes to join in. Outside, there is a tennis court and a fantastic outdoor swimming pool (May half term to September). There is a large outdoor childrens play area next to the open air pool. For those who enjoy walking, the “woodland walk” leads you from the park to the nearby village of Milford-on-Sea and there is a fun nature walk for the kids to follow around the park.
The on-site shop provides a wide range of goods including groceries, newspapers, beers, wines, spirits and tobacco, as well as toys, games, swimwear, gifts and lottery tickets. There is also a large Tesco nearby and a Lidl and more shops in New Milton, a 5 minute drive from the park.
If you don’t fancy cooking for yourself, you can dine in Tides bar and restaurant, which provides a varied menu and separate kids menu. Shorefield also now offer a takeaway food delivery service.
If you prefer to dine out, I can thoroughly recommend The Beach House at Milford on Sea (1 mile walk along the cliff top walkway from the lodge) - a Hall & Woodhouse pub set in a stunning Victorian building with a lovely garden overlooking the sea and The Needles of the Isle of Wight beyond. The food is reasonably priced and the menu varied. I've never had a bad meal there. Further afield is the amazing Noisy Lobster restaurant, set right on the beach at Avon Beach (15 min drive). Specialising in sea food, this place always gets it right. Fabulous atmosphere, reasonably priced, great service, wonderful food - don't go home without trying it but you MUST book! The Cave wine bar in nearby Milford-on-Sea offers a more sophisticated evening - light bites, a vast range of wines, coffee and cakes. There are other eating establishments in Milford (a good Thai, family style pub and a new Italian as well as tea shops and a Bistro).
If you are keen on fishing and have the necessary rod licence, there are fishing stages on the other side of the lake for others and you can fish from right in front of the lodge.
Situated on the southern edge of the New Forest, Shorefields Park really is the ideal location to base yourself to explore this beautiful part of Hampshire and Dorset. Equally, there is plenty to do within the park, so there is no need to leave at all! It’s up to you.
Bed linens are provided and the beds will be made up for your arrival. Please note the lodge does not come with towels. You will need to bring your own bath, tea and swimming towels.
My lodge should always be better value to rent than a Shorefield lodge and you have the added advantage of knowing exactly where it is on the park - one of the best spots - honestly! I also INCLUDE leisure passes in the cost of your holiday so no nasty extras! I offer discounts for stays of 7 days or longer. Don't be afraid to ask me for my best rate!!
My lodge is now pet-friendly. I welcome well-behaved dogs (max 2). Please respect my lodge and do not allow pets on the furniture or in the bedrooms. If my cleaning company deems it necessary to do a deeper clean, due to pet hair, 'accidents' etc, your £100 deposit may be used to cover the additional cost. Shorefields Park is very dog-friendly but they must be kept on leads at all times and scooping their poop is mandatory!
Tip: If you have friends who also want to stay on the park at the same time as you, contact me at the time of booking as I can secure a discount for them!

have stayed at the holiday park before and its a great location for exploring the surrounding area. as it was a lodge as opposed to a caravan, the beds and bedrooms are a better size

Wonderful location, in a quiet part of the park but only a 10 minute walk to Shorefield Park facilities. Host was very contactable and accomodating when we wanted to stay longer. They organised passes for us so we could use the pool at the park too.

Lovely lodge
Only downfall was we didn't have a great view of the lake as all the bushes need cutting

A lovely cosy cabin by the lake. Walking, fishing and golf at various courses- this was a great base for us to chill out and do our favourite things.

Property is in quite a nice location with a nice view of the lake. However its not that private as the other lodges are quite close and the windows do not have net curtains or similar. When we arrived there was a slight smell of damp and the bathroom light wasnt working and as the landlady was away, it couldnt be fixed while we were there. The Kitchen is pretty well equipped and the beds were comfortable. There is a good amount of storage in the bedrooms. There is a nice swimming pool and gym in the main building of the park but you have to queue for a long time if you want to use the pool as we were there during school holidays and it was clear the facilities arent sufficient if the park is full. It was the same for the restaurant ( 1 hour wait)

The Log Cabin is located in a tranquil setting overlooking a fishing lake. The properties are orientated in such a way to ensure privacy and gives a feeling of low density.
Positioned on the outskirts of the park, hence a long walk to the facilities, which suited me.
I would be happy to stay again another time. There was nothing I was not happy with.
Very Nice.

This was our first visit to Milford on Sea and Shorefield was the perfect location for exploring the area. The park itself is very nice and well spread out, with a variety of caravans and lodges in a lovely setting. As for our lodge, we loved it from the moment we arrived. It’s really well positioned for accessing the beach, which is about a 10-15 min walk away, and is in a nice and quiet spot on Shorefield. It was clean, cozy and had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Kate was always available for any questions before our stay and we got all the information we needed from her well in advance. The kids loved it, and our 6 month old puppy loved sitting on the decking area and watching the world go by on the lake! The lake did get busy at certain times of the day with people fishing on it, nobody was ever noisy, but there were occasions when some people were using space in front of the lodge to fish, which they are not allowed to do. Had we realised they weren’t allowed to, we would have politely asked them to move, as they were spoiling our view! Overall, if you are looking for a cozy lodge experience in a great location and with a very helpful host, this is the one for you.

Lovely lodge clean and comfortable on a small fishing lake.
Brilliant for dog walking with the New forest and local beach in easy access.
Privacy could be a problem with the close proximity of a very big lodge within 10 foot of us, but we were lucky as it was vacant during our short stay.
Overall we are happy with our stay at Kate’s lodge.

Property was lovely and clean and comfortable. The private fishing was great for my partner and the forest walk on the door step was good for the dogs although a bit like a maze and we got lost the first day so having a map or more sign posts would be good as we were not the only ones. Would have been better if we had an enclosed garden to let the dogs out to go to the toilet instead of having to go out with them all the time.

Time to recharge our batteries
Lovely lodge in beautiful tranquil setting next to a small fishing lake. Spent three full days recharging our batteries fishing and reading and was absolute bliss.
Evening walks to the beach were just what we needed before enjoying a quiet glass of wine on the veranda.
The lodge itself was lovely and clean and felt like home from home - will definitely be visiting again

Great short break
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Lodge . Very comfortable, in a lovely location within the Shorefields Country Park and just a short walk to all amenities.. Fishing was good from the swim adjacent the Lodge. Would like to return to continue our exploration of the area.

Good Location
Very good location for walking to the cliff top walks and into Milford on Sea. Good communication with the owner. My honest review is that it's just a bit tired, and could do with new bedding (very washed out), settee uncomfortable . It does look like the photo, lots of pine, could just do with a make-over.

Excellent!
We have just returned from a week at Kates lodge. Lovely cosy cabin in a great location on a good site with loads to do and see nearby. All good-couldn’t fault it!

Lovely break in Kate’s lodge. Spotlessly clean, very comfortable. Location by the lake was blissful. Great to have the pools, gym & sports courts for the kids to entertain themselves on rainy days. The food quality in the Shorefields restaurant was pretty dire, but then we only went once to watch Euro finals so they were very busy. The shop is useful & well stocked. Mudeford beach was lovely and we had great pizzas from the noisy lobster cafe.

Just spent the last 6 days here. The lodge is as described but I cannot overstate what an awesome location it is! It’s right on a small lake that is full of fish but most importantly it’s literally a 10 min walk to the beach! Kate (host) was always available and responded rapidly to messages. I will definitely book the lodge again if it’s available when I need it and my parents are interested too.
