Description of the environment
The villa is located in the Bisschopsdreef. The Dreef itself is part of the protection as a monument recognized by Heritage Flanders since 11-04-2016.
At the entrance of the Bisschopsdreef (Polderstraat side) that leads to the Rooigem Castle, there are two welcome bars. These are Dutch lime trees that were planted around 1823. On both sides of the welcome lindens there is a fence of natural stone posts connected by chains, one of which is a 1763 fence post.
The avenue was built in 1762 and was the access road to the bishop's former country residence (since 1720). The driveway with triple rows of oak trees fitted in with the formal 18th-century garden of the Rooigem castle. The axis of the lane runs directly from the castle to the Belfry and the tower of the now disappeared bishop church of Sint-Donaas.
From the construction in 1762, the lane was used as a public access road. Between 1835 and 1948, the Dreef of Visart and the Dreef of Pierpont were successively referred to according to the then castle dwellers. From 1948 the lane gets its original name back. Upon construction, the driveway was surrounded by triple rows of trees, which, according to stem drillings, date from around 1760, the outer rows had to give way to the subdivision started from the 1950s.

The house could accommodate all 10 of us very comfortably. The location is so close to Bruges City Center that it is an easy walk to the bridge over the canal. Walk (or run) the other way the same distance and you are in beautiful farmland. Wonderful location!

Large house, perfectly located in a nice area within walking distance of the centre.
10 of us stayed here for a local Frisbee tournament, many of us having been to Bruges on many occasions in the past. The area of Sint-Kruis is lovely and there are several bakeries, cafes, cash points and a small supermarket within a few minutes walk. A further 15 minute walk gets you right in to the centre. Excellent value for money.

Comfortable Property ,could use a little more attention.
It worked well for our 11 adults and one child. Unique historical furniture was interesting. Kitchen is well stocked and house was clean although the air was not fresh when we arrived. Beds where fine a little firmer then what we are use too though.
We had cars so didn't mind distance to centre of Bruges.
Decor on walls and outdoor maintaince would add value to your experience.
It was good for our large group and we likely would stay again especially if there was wifi available.

Great location, but rental has issues
The TV didn't work upon arrival, but the owners retrieved a new cable/satellite box to fix. Washer also didn't work. The owner had it fixed (sort of) during our stay. No wifi in house. Overall, this seems like a rental situation that hasn't been quite worked out yet. The location is great. Beautiful neighborhood. But the home had several bedrooms we counted on using locked because the owner said we didn't need them for our number of people. That wasn't specified beforehand and was incredibly odd as we didn't want to double up our kids. There were no written instructions in the house explaining how things work. Also, communication with the owner was spotty, other than requesting our payments. Again, great location and owner was friendly in person, but I would not recommend.
