Really cosy. Didn’t feel like I was in a hotel room. Home from home style rooms. For a women on her own I felt safe.
Staff were very helpful and friendly even though he was a little stressed due to staffing issues.
I will stay here again when back that way. X
The noise from below around 11pm. I think I was above the kitchen and they were cleaning down. I had dropped off to sleep early but was woken by a racket!!
The breakfast was too expensive. I was on a work budget and £15 is over my allocated amount. Would have been nice to have had two option prices, continental and full.
Staff member was telling everyone he was more or less working in his own tonight due to sickness. Felt it was a little unprofessional.

This is an old inn used for travelers since the 1600’s. It is beautifully restored and our room certainly met our expectations. The staff was pleasant and helpful.
We enjoyed the full English breakfast, which cost an additional £15 each. Lots of meat!!!
Plenty of parking and well lit.
The church next door was a fun treat, which we visited the morning we left. John took us through the church and proudly told us about it. What a great start on the day.
We stsyed here while visiting nearby Cambridge.

Breakfast really good selection. Well cooked full English. Excellent room, contemporary, well equipped very comfortable. Immaculate with plenty hot water and fresh towels every day. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great location. Cosy pub. Good restaurant and lively atmosphere.
Wider menu choices would have been better. Wines were a little pricey.

Nice food and pleasant staff.
Not clear how to control the heating. The door push button lock wasn't working.

Always a great experience (especially if you have one of the renovated rooms). This time very welcoming to my in-laws with a 1 year old. Still crazy how much better value this place is than anything else remotely close to Cambridge.
Lots of fruit trees planted around the property. Hadn't noticed that before.
Maybe the new rooms are coming up for a refresh/lick of paint, but they're still great.

Best place of its type in the Cambridge area. Crushes everything else in the same price point (and a fair way above). Great rooms (especially the modern ones - eg the Turing room) and excellent restaurant. Parking. Picturesque village and site.
They were busy when I arrived and the service wasn't very welcoming/prompt initially but this isn't typical. And it did improve.

Excellent again, though I was in one of their older rooms this time. Still very good though I've been spoilt by staying in their excellent new rooms until now.
Food and wine terrific. Great staff. Beautiful village.
The older room.

This is great option near Cambridge. I've stayed at a few other hotels/B&B type places in the surrounding area and this is wildly superior to them all (though I assume - I'm not sure - it doesn't have gym etc. facilities). Charming village, very attractive plot the pub and accommodation is on (with a graveyard in the back, if you like that sort of thing). Their newer rooms (havent seen the older ones) are extremely well decorated, bordering on chic. The dining areas and bar are rustic but with modern upgrades to the traditional look. Decorated by someone with good taste. Breakfast *excellent* and laid out a bit like in a boutiquey hotel. The place, frankly, is almost boutique, which you wouldn't realize from the listing. As a gastropub you won't find anything more boutiquey in the area. Got a 10 minute cab into Cambridge. All went smooothly.
Nothing really.
Shut the bar a bit early, but it's in a village and no one was around other than people leaving the restaurant (I checked in rather late) so I don't blame them - and they did say they'd get me a drink if I wanted one so...

Loved the authentic, original pub. Great staff and good meals. The rooms in the new wing are as to be expected; clean, fresh and well appointed with everything you need. Breakfast was good, full English cooked to order with fruit and yoghurt self serve. Again, great staff. The waitress was delightful. Everyone was chatty and happy to help. Dinner in the pub was yummy and we spent a few hours eating and drinking with old friends.

This is a lovely comfortable hotel, and very welcoming. The food was excellent and also the wine list. We had a fantastic stay here. I left some important documents behind in my room and called the hotel several hours after I'd checked out - Tiago quickly contacted housekeeping and my documents were saved from the bin and posted back to me. Thank you for going the extra mile to help me!
Nothing at all!

The rooms were modern and comfortable. The parking was also convenient. We enjoyed having the restaurant on site to meet up with local friends.
The welcome was confused, in particular the price which differed from the one that we booked. Booking.com appeared to have changed the price post reservation and we were unable to prove this because the app updated before we could take a print screen.
The breakfast wasn't great. The croissant was raw in the middle and the porridge, hard as concrete. The owner apologised, saying it was the chef's first day on breakfast and refused to charge us for it, which we appreciated.

Good sized room, food and total feel of place was good.
Bathroom was small with a very weirdly placed toilet and the first breakfast we were a little disappointed in .

General ambience
One of the evening meals was over cooked, other than that OK

The staff were really helpful. Room was immaculate and beautiful. Tea and coffee machine. Dinner was excellent and so was breakfast. Everything was a very high standard
Slight issue with the toilet not flushing correctly.

Very nice staff. Very good quality fittings in the room, seemed to be new. Parking and access to Cambridge is easy. It was also quiet for a pub setting as the rooms are in an extension.
The rooms are small but that can’t be helped.

The food was really lovely and wholesome.
Bedroom was ok.
The room needed a tiny bit of attention, flaky paint in places.

The location is beautiful, other than waking up to the realisation that our room is litterally adjacent to a grave yard. It was dark when we arrived. There's something a little disconcerting leaving your room for breakfast to be faced with a row of grave stones right outside your room. The staff are lovely and ensured we have no allergies, etc. The room was spotless, and the bed was very comfortable. It is also a lovely, quiet location.
Lack of privacy re the bathroom. The sliding doors separate the shower toilet room from the bedroom. However, the doors do not meet, meaning absolutely no privacy when using the toilet. My finance and I share most things but not our toilet time.
We chose this place to stay purely based on the amazing reviews for the food. Sadly, this was not our experience. The menu is very limited. In my humble opinion over priced and a long wait for service. We had two evening meals and 1 breakfast. The evening meals arrived tepidly warm with very little choice. The breakfast was shocking. We waited nearly for 45 minutes for cold poached eggs on toast. I'm wondering why the service took so long when there were only 4 tables waiting? £25 for 2 x poached eggs on toast that arrived luke warn and the eggs hard boiled and nothing like the smashed avacardo as described. I received half a sliced avacado that was not ripe to mash and 2 over cooked eggs that resembled hard-boiled eggs. Also, eating your breakfast whilst the cleaner hoovers hard wood floors around you isn't ideal and certainly not relaxing. The 2nd night, I chose sweet potato risotto. It was cold and tasted very bland. I couldn't actually eat it. My fiance chose sweet potato curry, and this seemed a better option. The staff are absolutely lovely. It seems that attention needs to be paid on times for service and ensuring food arrives at the table hot. Quality of food needs reviewing. Bread was awful and cold. Either too stogy like cake or for breakfast, no options other than thin wholemeal cold toast. It would be nice to have been served local bread fresh from a bakery.
