host was lovely, breakfast was good, close to Santa Teresa

location uphill so it will be difficult to walk back, but ubers are affordable

Très certainement le meilleur séjour en Guesthouse de ma vie

Par quoi commencer? Tout était parfait. La maison et le jardin de Casa Vermelha sont absolument magnifiques. Un petit écrin de tranquillité à l'abris du tumult de la ville. La chambre est spacieuse, la litterie confortable et la porte fenêtre s'ouvre sur la terrasse où vous attend un hamac des plus confortables. L'emplacement exact de la guesthouse est peut être un peu difficile d'accès mais finalement toujours faisable en taxi ou Uber, même au beau milieu de la nuit. D'ici, vous avez vue sur toute la partie nord de la ville et vous pouvez partir à pieds visiter le centre du quartier de Santa Teresa ou prendre un verre dans les nombreux bars qui bordent la rue principale. Idéal. Le petit-déjeuner complet est préparé tous les matin et servi dans une superbe salle à manger avec vue sur le Cristo et sur les jardins environnants. Sans aucun doute le meilleur moment de la journée puisque nous prenons le temps d'échanger avec notre hôte Maria-Teresa et les autres guests! Maria-Teresa est une personne en or qui inspire. En plus de nous raconter nombres d'histoires et faits historiques sur la ville, elle est Impliquée dans divers projets sociaux dans les favelas et elle n'a pas hésité à nous proposer de l'accompagner pour visiter et rencontrer des Cariocas comme si vous étiez la famille ou des voisins. Nous avons tellement apprécié sa compagnie que nous sommes même partis tous ensemble faire une randonnée à Dois Irmãos en passant visiter la favela de Vigidal (que je recommande absolument). Merci encore MT d'avoir fait de ce séjour à Rio un moment inoubliable. Nous reviendrons, c'est certain. Théo & Margaux

The house, breakfast and location is great. But the owner really made the stay exceptional. She cares about her guests, is interesting to talk to (perfect English) and she has a lot of useful information for you. Thank you a lot and hope to see again one day.

Superb

The location in Santa Teresa is superb and the house is exuding old-time but charms - a home away from home. And did I mention it has a view to Corcovado? But the best part is Tereza, the host. I can recommend Casa Vermelha to anyone!

A green oasis with warm hosts

Our stay was perfect! It felt like at home. Maria Teresa is a charming lady and we felt like visiting a friend. They helped us with everything and gave superb reccomendations. The breakfasts in the kitchen with a view to the hills made it very special. The location is lovely, with scenic views and lovely bars. It is a well kept unique oasis in the middle of Rio, where you can rest before or after visiting a noisy city. I would definitely stay there again!

Teresa welcome you as a part of her own family. She is really nice, helpful, kind, funny, passionate and her house looks like her. comfortable, well decorated, beautiful view from the terrace. You feel like home at her place

if you have a light sleep it can be hard, because the rooms are close to narrow street and windows are not really isolated

One of the best guest houses and hosts I’ve experienced!

This was one of the best guest houses I’ve ever stayed in! The host was amazing — super friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were delicious, the view is incredible, the location is great. I will definitely stay here again if I go back to Rio!

the house is nice and clean, and views are lovely but it’s a noisy neighbourhood, and the house is definitely more a hou

the views

it’s not really a hotel or a guesthouse. it’s more like an air b n b. the room I had was very small and is right next to the kitchen so there’s no privacy. plus, when I arrived late, there was a very big party happening on site. as well as that, I was kind of expected to have breakfast at the same time as other guests. while I was there, the house was used to host a party, and in the morning, she was having a business meeting with a couple who wanted to rent the venue for a party and she was more preoccupied with them during breakfast, and on the last morning, there was a photographer who was using the house for a photoshoot. there was a lot of noise constantly coming from surrounding neighbours.

Perfect place for a quiet and authentic stay in Brazil

Casa Vermelha was an outstanding experience. I loved the location (close to Lapa, sambodromo, botafogo, Airport). We were wrapping up our trip, so decided to stay in Santa Teresa to be close to the airport. Casa Vermelha didnt just offer a comfortable private space, but the whole experience was super unique and very positive. The architecture of the house, the great view of the city from the backyard, and the amazing host Maria Teresa made our stay super memorable and full of great memories. She made us feel like we were part of the family, but also allowed us to have our own privacy when we needed it. If you are looking for an authentic place to stay, with all the basic comforts covered, a great view of the city, and a super friendly host, I will strongly recommend you to consider Casa Vermelha. I am planning to return to this place when i get back to Brazil

Unique B&B in one of Rio‘s most charming neighborhoods

Maria Teresa, her mother and her aunt were really welcoming and made us feel right at home. The colonial house and its garden is absolutely amazing with great views on the city. The neighborhood in Santa Teresa is certainly one of the most beautiful ones in the city. We can only recommend to stay at Casa Vermelha.

Very beautiful house in the best neighbourhood of Rio! Great room, very clean Maria Teresa is the nicest host. She gave us great advice about what to visit in Rio, offered us cajou caipirinhas ... We were sad to leave this peaceful place ! Also : best breakfast in Brazil Thank you Maria Teresa !

the location and the beautiful building. delicious breakfast and a very nice onwer.

They have some problems with booking.com, our booked room was occupied, and the owner offered us a private room. in this case we paid less.

A great location in Santa Teresa.

Maria gave us good advice on where to go in Rio. The breakfasts were excellent and we enjoyed our discussions with Maria each morning.

It would have been nice to have somewhere to place our clothes or some hangers to use.

I felt welcomed

I can't say enough good things about the hostess and her family. They were welcoming, caring, kind and helpful and I was grateful to have them at my hosts. The house itself is absolutely gorgeous and the views are magnificent.

It was a little bit difficult to get transportation down into Centro and while the location is beautiful it is far from the main tourist attractions
