About this chalet rental
This lovely chalet has been meticulously restored from its former pastoral dilapidation. It oozes character and charm with an abundance of wood and grey mountain stone. Set off the quiet road leading through La Villette, Chalet Rostaing makes a good option for larger groups.
Chalet Rostaing has a spacious dining room with the original vaulted ceiling, stone walls and a roaring log-fire. There is a separate lounge with another open fire. Rostaing benefits from 6 bedrooms all with individual features and a total of 5 bathrooms (4 -en-suite).
The main entrance to Rostaing is from the quiet road which serves only the hamlet itself. There is also an entrance into the dining room near to the heated ski/boot room. If you just want to sit and relax during the day there is a terrace and a garden to soak up some Alpine sunshine.
You have your own parking area alongside and a store-room suitable for bicycles and other equipment.
Guests can ski back to the hamlet or ride the gondola.
Cycling in the Alps: Vaujany benefits from a state of the art escalator which connects the top with the bottom of the village. Up the top there is the Galerie Marchande with various shops/ bars and restaurants and then there is another similar development around the main lift station at the bottom...shops, bars, restaurants, etc. The escalator connects the two and allows the people at the top of the village to ride easily down to the lift station and back again. The 160 place Cable Car systems takes you from the village at 1100 metres to 2700 metres …The next stop up is 3300 metres at the Pic Blanc looking out on to the Mont Blanc, the Grand Paradis, the Meije and the Ecrin National Park.
Childcare - There is a spacious day nursery and a children's activity club in Vaujany and we can provide babysitting on request.
Vaujany provides all the ingredients of which special holidays are made - for all ages!
~ SUMMER ~: Catch the small train to travel around the village and hamlets (free). You will find a Local Wildlife area, Memory centre, cinema, Hydrelec museum, 2 discos, tennis, mountaineering, parapenting, shops, internet cafe.
Cycling/Mountain biking - we are only 15 minutes from Bourg d'Oisans the cycling capital of the area. Near to the famous climb to Alpe d'Huez and nearby cols such as Galibier, Lautaret and Croix de Fer. Local mountain-bike routes including the descent from Pic Blanc (3,300m) to Allemont (750m) using the cable-car for the ascent!
Mountaineering - Excellent local peaks including the Rissiou (2,622m), the Etendard (3,464m) and Belledonne (2,926m). Just further afield (1 hour) the Parc des Ecrins offers some famous mountains such as the Meije (3,982m) and the Ecrin (4,102m) and the climbing centres of La Grave and La Berarde are well worth a visit. There is a cosy mountain hut locally at 2,300m and a whole series of strategically placed huts in the Parc des Ecrins.
Hiking/Walking - You can wander through the surrounding meadows and woodland, take a walk to Enversin for lunch, hop on the cable car to visit the lakes or scramble up mountain paths for views of distant valleys. A waterfall or stream is never far and wild flowers are all around.
Tennis - Situated amongst the meadows just above La Villette and surrounded by breathtaking scenery there is a superb tennis club with six hard courts, playground, restaurant/bar and sun-terrace.
Why not do what the French do, linger over a lengthy lunch at one of the excellent restaurants in the village or take a cable car up the mountain and enjoy lunch with a view.
For a memorable day out, there are scenic plane rides from Alpe d'Huez, soar over the mountain ridges and swoop through the deep valleys.

Photos are not like the reality. Smaller kitchen and the interior is dated. There is no padding in the sofa. All matrasses as hard as a board. Takes at least 10 minutes before the shower gives warm water.
Nature and environment is great! Owner has answered quickly and kind our calls about the problems with the water

Very cosy and light chalet
It is a perfect chalet for family and friends with lovely wood burning stove. we sat there in the evening playing games or chatting before our delicious aperitif and excellent dinner. Our chef and chalet girl were extremely helpful and talented, we couldn't have been happier. We will definitely go back to enjoy the views, the food, the ski, the hospitality.

Great chalet, service and food with Ski Peak
We all had a wonderful time with Ski Peak - the accommodation was lovely ( in particular the dining room was beautiful and conducive to long, happy family dinners) , the staff were friendly and very helpful and the food was excellent. I would recommend this chalet and Ski Peak to all.
