The room was nice
We had to wait out in the cold for an hour to get in .. we had asked for checking between 4-5pm . We had a response saying check in was from 12pm… no one was there.. we were cycling in winter and were cold . Apparently we should have known to go to the back but received no such instruction. We rang the number supplied and no one answered. The menu was seriously depleted .. sausages poor, the fish was ok .. pudding ( strawberries mentioned twice on menu .. ) was provided with dehydrated strawberries only so very disappointed. It seemed to have a good reputation but didn’t live up to it for us.

Ideal location for Snape Maltings, visiting the coast and doing cycling and walking. The breakfast avocado on toast was the best I've ever had.
No problem for us but access to the room and low ceilings might not be suitable for some.

Comfortable and warm
Maybe after each night a refresh of coffee, water etc

Quirky & Original; loved our stay after a really long drive from Cumbria, which we forgot instantly?!...we felt so comfortable, the accommodation and the food was amazing, and it was so peaceful that we slowed down to a Suffolk pace. Brilliant and unexpected.

Room was very cold but we just layered up!

The Golden Key was an exceptional pub stay. The room was clean, spacious and very comfortable. It was decorated country-modern and absolutely loved the beams in the room. Bathroom was great too. The breakfast was very tasty and filling.
Nothing, was perfect.

Large bedroom over simple sum
It shut at 9.30pm

Friendly staff and the breakfast good.
The stairs bit tricky at 80+!!!

Super cute village, the pub/accommodation is only 10 min walk from snape maltings .
15min from the seaside. It’s the perfect picturesque getaway!!
We love it all.
However, if you use to the busy life and the 24h service you will have to lay back a little as taxi would need to be booked in advance and restaurants/pubs will only serve meals during lunch and dinner hours.

Lovely breakfast.. Decent sized room.
We had no real issues , just missed the wow factor.

Decent accomodation above a pub within walking distance of the fabulous Snape Maltings. Our room was capacious and recently renovated. Dinner was fairly standard pub fare but hearty and real. Breakfast was better than average for a pub. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Pub is also a 'local' and looks a bit tired in parts. We didn't really mind that though.

near to Snape malting
room needed updating….understand this will happen at the end of the season

Friendly staff. Cute room.
The sofa bed was uncomfortable

Sloping floor in bathroom

great find and in a nice quiet location. cant really hear the road.
good local food and if you don't eat there, the owners have a very good seafood restaurant nearby

The room was nice, the bathroom had good facilities, the room fan kept us cool. They allow dogs which is great.
Breakfast didn't start until 9 o'clock, we didn't know that until we arrived. I wouldn't have booked if I had known that. We had to wait, starving in our room until we could go and eat, not the best start to a day on holiday.
The food was very hit and miss - the first thing I ate there had to be sent back because it was inedible (sour liver...!).
The breakfast was served in a room full of flies. Some of the cutlery and teacups were dirty and/or stained. Every morning when breakfast was served we were hoovered around whilst trying to eat.
On Friday night we returned about 10 and the pub was already long closed! Basically no staff are on site for quite a lot of the time, so you have to arrive during lunch service to even get into your room. We got stuck in traffic and arrived at 2.15 - we had to wait 3 hours to check in!
Also, we were there for 4 nights and nobody changes the bed, or replaces used mugs and tea bags, or brings new towels.

Location was quite good, large car park, staff friendly
Room large but basic
Porch area as you came into smelt stale and unpleasant when the external door was closed
Bed was very very low, so if you suffer any problems bending, not recommended
Breakfast was large but quality of cooking not what I expected,
We saw three evening meals sent back over two evenings that we actually ate in the pub

Excellent location

Very good; kippers - do not always see this on the menu.
One slight issue; breakfast served at 9am -no flexibility. Rather late for anyone facing a busy day.
