About this cottage rental
7 Wye Rapids Cottage is in a beautiful location along a quiet lane overlooking the River Wye and enjoys spectacular views of the renowned wooded valley that is Symonds Yat.
This property is also our little home from home and we want you to feel as comfortable as we do. Aside from the stunning elevated position the property has a lovely wood burning stove with a generous stock of wood, lovely comfortable beds and a whole range of home comforts. We don't want it to feel like just another holiday let.
As it's on the end of the row the good sized rear courtyard can be accessed easily without going through the cottage - perfect if you have bikes, canoes or just a muddy dog!!
The property enjoys a truly stunning elevated position with fantastic views of the river, surrounded by beautiful tracks for walking (with or without dogs!) or cycling. It's a nature lovers / bird-watcher's paradise, not to mention those that enjoy river activities such as canoeing, kayaking etc.
In addition, there are some great local pubs in total 5 within a lovely 30 minute walk (the nearest just 10 minutes walk). They are all very friendly and welcoming with a great selection of food and drink...and they love dogs!
You can cross the river via a hand-operated ferry, run by the staff of the Saracen's Head pub opposite the property - located 5 minutes walk from the cottage.
Since acquiring the property in 2016 with have renewed / upgraded most of it including a new kitchen and a new bathroom at the end of 2017. We will work hard to maintain and improve the standard throughout.

Lovely cottage situated in an idyllic area. Close to the river Wye you can hear the weir. Short walk to local pubs & good food. A good area to explore.

We absolutely loved Kerry's cottage in Symonds Yat. It had everything you could need and is in such a beautiful setting. The provision of free firewood is very generous and the woodburner was very welcome to warm the chilly May evenings!
We were there to walk some of the Wye Valley, which didn't disappoint us. We will be back if annual leave allows!
Thank you for making our stay so comfortable and being so welcoming.

Yet again we found the property extremely clean and well equipped, everything you could possibly need was all supplied.
The surrounding area is as beautiful as ever and the surrounding pubs were good especially the olde ferries inn where we ate 3 times.

The location is perfect with just a short walk to a good pub with excellent food and service, the hand pulled ferry is a very short walk from the property. We had a really lovely mini break and thoroughly recommend the accommodation.

Absolutely blown away by this rental, fantastic views, cosy, welcoming, spotless, a home from home with everything you could need on a short break. We didn't have any problems with the narrow road, you just have to take it steady that's all. We highly recommend this property for the views and beautiful walks straight from the cottage. Absolutely wonderful. Thank you to the kind owners for the goodies you left for us, such a lovely gesture. We will be back!!

Lovely Cottage
This was a lovely cottage but because of our age 78 years found it difficult to get to . High up with narrow lanes rather scary to stop & start on the steep lanes passing other cars. No mobile signal which we did not realise . Could not phone family or check sat nav for our journeys. Cottage clean apart from freezer needed defrosting .Some days were quite chilly but had no idea how to work the heaters so had to used the log fire . Ideal for young people & walkers .

.A spotless, comfy home from home in truly stunning surrounds. We could not have wished for more.
Beautiful walks, great meals out only a short stroll away and the sun shone… a bonus.

Our lovely stay at Symonds Yat
We arrived at the Rapids cottage to a lovely view of the valley, the description online match our expectations. We had a great stay, the walks were phenomenal and all on the door step, local pubs; Ye Old Ferrie Inn, The Saracens Head Inn and The Old Court Hotel were fantastic for meals and staff fell over themselves trying to help you. We are definitely going to book for next year.
I couldn’t find fault with anything only a suggestion to a welcome pack of milk and tea bags, after a long journey we then had a 20 minute drive to Monmouth for shops

Ideal location & facilities
Really nice cottage with really good service from owner. There was a wifi problem that was outside of the property and not the owners fault but they spent time and effort sorting it out for us. Really nice touch. The cottage was in a lovely location and was very quite and relaxing

Holiday heaven
We have just come back from a wonderful week staying at this fantastic property. The cottage has everything you could ask for, a well stocked kitchen, comfy sitting room and lovely bedrooms. It is very dog friendly and our border terrier felt very at home. Symonds Yat is a fabulous place to visit and there are an abundance of walks right from the door. The walk through Biblins campsite and over the bridge is lovely and you can walk to the east side. Ye old ferrie Inn is just a short walk away, they are very friendly and the food is great. Highly recommended this cottage and Symonds Yat.
We would love to return soon

Perfect property in one of best locations on the river
We enjoyed our 2nd stay at 7 wye Rapids cottage. Lovely location on the river. Handy for the saracens head ferry (when it's running. It was out of action during our week this year) Also only 10 minute walk along track to Ye Olde Ferrie Inn which has nice seating along the river serving a good food and drink menu. Cottage well equipped with necessities, including dog treats etc. Comfortable and nicely appointed bedrooms. Nice private outside area at the rear in which to sit and also a beautiful communal garden of which we were the only users. We found 4 pubs/hotels serving good food to which we could walk. The Saracens Head and Royal Lodge, both can be seen across on the opposite bank and a pleasant 3 mile walk thro Biblins and across the suspension bridge. The ferrie inn at the end of the lane and the Old Court Hotel which is a half hour walk along the river from the ferrie inn carpark. A comfortable cottage in a beautiful location. We were blessed with gorgeous weather so everything was perfect.

Apart from the road entry to property. Views from property absolutely stunning.
Cottage was welcoming and homely . Lovely walks on doorstep ,with plenty of pubs near by for food if wanted. Unique property we only wished had booked full ten days there to totally unwind. The walk to Biblins and Yat Rock will stay with us forever magic.

So nice we bought a house just up the hill
We stayed in this property many years ago and loved its wood burner and comfortable beds and settees . This visit, the owners have excelled themselves with Covid cleaning between guest visits and different but still comfortable beds and settees. If you want a comfortable, secure and delightful place to stay then look no further.

Little Gem
This is a lovely cottage and we had a great stay. Just a shame the ferry no longer operates from Saracen's Head and the road repairs meant we had to drive through a really narrow lane.

Beautiful Cottage
Very beautiful cottage in a beautiful location, a few niggling problems but nothing that made our stay any less enjoyable. The local towns & pubs etc are lovely. Woukk OK d definitely recommend but only when the main road is open, the small lane is ridiculous to navigate through

Lovely Cottage
We spent the inbetween Christmas and New Year period at Wye Rapids cottage with our dog and it was a great stay. The Saracens Head was a nice walk along the river ( no ferry due to high river level) and had fantastic food, Ye Olde Ferrie Inn also did some lovely meals and was only a short walk from the property.
We did a number of walks in and around the Forest of Dean plus some from the front door.
The approach to the cottage is a bit of a hassle and when I first got there I did dump the car at the pub and walk in, however I saw that it was narrow but manageable and then drove up to the cottage. Its tight but if you take it easy its ok, there aren’t that many houses served by the road so you’ll be unlucky to meet someone coming the other way.
Overall a lovely property in a beautiful part of the country.

Fabulous cottage
This was our second time staying at the cottage. It is in a lovely location and is extremely well equipped and comfortable. Great walks and good pubs to visit. Would highly recommend and look forward to going back again in the future.

Perfect relaxing stay and location
The cottage was very clean and homely and has anything you could need, including a slow cooker! The location is at the far end of Symonds Yat (West) and part of a lovely row of similar cottages. Set on the hillside you get amazing views of the Wye Valley and the river.
You can walk from the door on to public footpaths into the woods and along the river Wye.
Even in November the cottage felt warm and cosy with the log burner going and the radiators in the bedrooms. Waking to the sounds of the birds, especially the grouse was wonderful and at night you can see the stars so bright as there is no light pollution.
We ate at the Old Ferrie Inn for Sunday roast which was delicious and had a pint at The Saracens Head, which was also very nice. Both are dog friendly and have open fires to warm you up! We opted to eat in most nights and got supplies from Waitrose in Monmouth as a treat!
The alternative access road is fine if you are a confident driver! My Ford Focus fitted down it no issues and I saw cars and vans of all sizes managing it!
Thoroughly enjoyable week away, we managed to wear our spaniel out most days, thank you! Wendy, Scott and Murray
