Absolutely wonderful cabin on Moosehead Lake! So clean and comfortable. The pictures don’t even do it justice. This is a beautiful vacation spot for anyone looking to get away from everything and have a quiet and relaxing trip. I’d give it 20 stars if I could..I fell in love with Moosehead Lake after our wonderful time here.

We really enjoyed our stay. Beautiful views of the lake. Unfortunately, it was raining for about the first 24 hours that we were there, so we didn't get to enjoy the back deck. Quaint little place, but fulfilled our needs.

Great week!
Wonderful location that can’t be beat. Porch sits right over the the water. The dock is solid and we’ll built. Having wifi and TV is a plus. Beds very comfy. Having coffee in the morning and happy hour at the end of the day on the porch rockers is pure bliss. The owner is extremely nice and very helpful with knowledge of the area. The eagles have a nest on the little island and it was nice to see them soar above us. Kitchen is well equipped. Plenty of counter space. Lots of water pressure in the shower…I could rinse my hair in under 10 seconds lol. The only thing I would change is to replace the futon with a comfortable sleep sofa. Unless you’re 6 feet tall it is not comfortable to sit and read. The rocking chairs worked fine and I also brought my favorite folding chair. It was a very relaxing week and we would love to return! Thank you Nancy for everything and thank you for allowing dogs. Our Casey had a good time too!

Nice cabin but Vacasa is very slow to respond, cabin need some basic updates
Beautiful view. Charming cabin. Comfortable. But improvements could be made. Check in was sketchy because the power was off. It was just about dark so we couldn't see. Called Vacasa but the support wasn’t very helpful. Miraculously the power came on about 20 minutes after we arrived. Vacasa support knew nothing about the property to help. Be prepared for dirt roads everywhere so bring your awd or 4wd. There are no kayaks or canoes to use. Any photos you see with some belong to the people next door. The furniture coverings are not in great condition so we used towels and sheets to cover them. There are not many electrical outlets so i would bring an extension cord and a surge protector. The outlets in the bedrooms are very old and loose and do not have 3 prong outlets. Doubtful they're up to code. The living area is very dark even with all of the lights on. It would be nice if the owners put in better lighting. It was pretty dark for reading in the sitting area at night. Be aware the shower is kind of plopped in the batroom and the walls are very flimsy, made of flexible plastic panels. The shower almost fell apart when one of us lost balace and grabbed the wall. But the oressure is good. One last thing is that the door locks are very inadequate. The only security is a small hook and eye that you can get at Ace Hardware for $2.39. There us a slide latch on the front door but it’s so flimsy i could probably kick the door in with my weaker leg. But keep in mind this is an old place with old stuff. Some of it is charming but a few made us think they need updating. I would stay again though. But i think a little money could be invested by the owners for better safety and security.

Absolutely perfect
Great little cabin in the perfect spot. Enjoyed my morning coffee on the front deck staring across Moosehead Lake at Mt. Kineo. Got to watch a nesting pair of eagles on the small island at the mouth of the river. Cabin is super cozy and beds were comfy too.

A Great Escape
The Cabin was located in a quiet area of Moose head lake. It was clean and over the lake equipped with everything you needed for indoor and outdoor activities. We saw how bright the milky-way was at night. Make sure to bring your own firewood and food as the closest grocery store is 20-25 minutes away. We would go back for sure! Thank you for hosting us at your lovely cabin. Anya

The cabin is small. The twin beds were new to us, but we superseded them. The locale was great. Used the grill outside. Steamed local lobsters another. Worked within the COVID parameters to eat very well. We will go back. Our 11 year old had a great time, too. The owners were great and accommodating.

Wonderful Cabin
The cabin was amazing!!!we could find all the facilities and had no issues what so ever. It was a beautiful cozy water front cabin right on the edge of the Moosehead Lake . You need not take a Boat or pier to fish , you can do it right from the balcony. My kid caught few from the balcony and she was very excited. This was the best experience one could think of ! The view we had in the evening was just fantastic!! All day long my family and I were playing in the lake or were outside.
Some people mentioned about internet and location finding issue but we did not encounter any .Apple map has the location but If you are using google map you need to search for “Mclver’s, McIver road, Rockwood“
Thank you so much!!

Another relaxing trip
We loving getting away to Rockwood. The cottage fantastic sitting right on the water. At light we leave the back door open and listed to the waves and the Loons. It is a calming place to relax and realize what life is really about.

Rockwood Getaway
We enjoyed this location & home. Our second time to stay here. The perfect getaway. Peaceful secluded and full of Maine nature. Great activities including fishing boating hiking and nature sightseeing. Cabin is clean well kept and amply stocked with all household needs.

Perfect!
This little slice of heaven is just what we needed for a getaway. Right on the water. The porch was perfect at night for listening to the loons and relaxing. And during the day to just stare at the beautiful Mt. kineo. The dock was perfect for fishing, and I wish we had stayed longer to enjoy the outdoor table area to eat meals. The main page says there is no internet, but there was great internet for us, a box right in the cabin, which was very nice, if you need it. There is a grill for cooking, and a nice big field for pets and kids to run around. The only thing that I was bummed about, most home rental places I have stayed, there has been things leftover, such as ketchup, mustard, spices, tinfoil, that kind of stuff. All you have here are the minimums, plates, utensils, cups, etc. Bring your own coffee too! (Not sure if this is normal, but for me it was not) the 4 twin beds were a little odd too, for couples a queen in one of the rooms would be nice. BUT! Those are only my opinions. We saw some moose on the main road up, and did some great hikes, that were all close (within an hour, which is close for this area) This was perfect and just what we needed! I would absolutely reccomend this property, and come back too!

Amazing Cabin - Amazing view
The cabin sits right on Moosehead Lake, feet from shore. The view of Mt. Kineo is amazing. We enjoyed the stay, it was quiet and had everything we needed. The internet worked fine and it had cable TV even though we didn't use it. Very clean and homey. We will be back we loved it.

Best view from a porch at Moosehead Lake
The cabin was clean and had all the modern features but was an old log cabin used by guides years ago. The view of Mt Kineo across the lake was priceless. The owners were very nice and welcoming.

I would love to give this cabin a 5 but...
The cabin was immaculate, perfectly equipped, just the right size for us, gorgeous back porch right over the lake. Quiet area which is exactly what we were looking for to unwind. Two small issues - the owners have a home next door but I believe they were gone for the season. Your internet signal is from their home and as they were not there - you guessed it, no internet. Not the end of the world but but know there is also sketchy cell service. The second thing to know is that there are 4 TWIN beds. It is not completely clear from the pictures. Again not a big deal just a heads up. HOWEVER, the address does not show up on any GPS . We called VRBO when we realized this. No way to contact the owners for any sort of help. VRBO in Oregon found some outdated note with additional directions stating that the address "may not" show up on GPS. The store referenced was a house which was long since closed so there was only a "for rent" sign outside, no way to know that was the referenced store. The bridge was a small two lane bridge only visible from the other side of the road on the way back after passing it and driving 15 minutes beyond and turning around. I know this sounds stupid but it is a very rural area and road signs are sparse. We were actually so frustrated trying to find the place that we were 10 minutes away from abandoning the stay. Someone needs to have the owners update the directions. "drive 20 minutes to the (yes only) blinking light" has no real meaning - 20 minutes as what speed?? How about "drive 35 miles"? The actual GPS coordinates would have been more helpful. If you are planning on renting this cabin, it is beautiful, but be certain you know where you are going!
