Location
Rooms and service. Tiny rooms, you can barely fit two full size suitcases in them. Also, even though I had booked a king bed, the first night they put us in a room with 2 doubles.

Breakfast/ location/ staff everything is awesome. Love the 24/7 tea/coffee offering in the lobby. Location is very convenient with a varieties of bus lines to choose from. Lots of great restaurants nearby, great recommendations from the concierge team as well as helping me send my luggage to my hotel in Tokyo.
It’s abit noisy at night with people talking / laughing

Everything was more or less great.
Air con temperature felt somewhat unpredictable and the room was either too cold or too hot.
Poor placing of electric outlets made using a laptop/phone in bed awkward.
Only one type of pillow (too hard) and only one pillow per person - a missed opportunity.

The location is great putting you at the heart of all great things Kyoto has to offer. The neighborhood isn't the most quiet but depending on the your preference that can be a good a thing as it is a fun and lively place. The hotel itself is quite modern and feels fresh, what stands out most is the lobby which is very nicely designed with a lovely little river and zen garden that gives some tranquility to an otherwise much more vibrant neighbourhood. The room itself offers everything you need and has some smart lighting features. Everything is up to date and hotel feels perhaps a bit more international than other places I've stayed. A very solid recommendation for anyone that is looking for a comfortable stay and perhaps limited on time as many places of note are within minutes of reach. Of note the hotel is right across the old home of Sakamoto Ryōma one of Kyoto's most historical figures but many such places can be found within walking distance
- The room itself is large. However doesn't feel very spacious this is mostly to a more traditional room design with a a separate closed off toilet and bathroom which take up quite some space of the total room size. For those who like privacy inside the room this can be great but compared to more modern designs it does make the room feel smaller then it actually is.
- The wall mount of the shower could benefit from a slightly higher positioning for taller guests.
- There is a separate toilet room with sink but no handsoap available? (this makes having a sink somewhat pointless, it doesn't seem like this was an oversight as housekeeping never seemed to add it on later days).
- There is a tiny portable alarm clock which is a little noisy when sleeping in otherwise very quiet room so I found it to be noticeable. This is not ideal for those who can't fall asleep easily. Of course this is easily resolved from moving the alarm clock somewhere else but then you can't use it.
This sounds like a have quite some complaints but in reality I very much enjoyed my stay and just listed some very minor annoyances that I think the hotel could (for the most part) easily improve upon

They Cross Hotel Kyoto is centrally located. Literally a 5 mins walk to a huge shopping precinct and 10 mins walk to the famous Nishiki markets. Lots of restaurants and cove shops around, and a 5 mins walk to the nearest station (although we used buses mostly). I also like that it is slightly off the hectic main street- the smaller side street entrance made you feel you’ve arrived at a relaxing place.
What’s so good about the hotel is it’s cleanliness. And the rooms are a lot bigger than I anticipated. The staff were genuinely helpful and as a pre-arrival, they were offer us connecting rooms as they found out we were travelling as a family with kids.
There’s nothing I didn’t like. The amenities (like toothbrush etc) needs to be collected downstairs at reception, but we have no problems with that at all.

the staff here really went above and beyond here for our stay, even before the trip they are extremely helpful. Gratitude to Ms Haruna, Madoka and Shiori, they are the best conceirge team ever. Really help making our Japan trip spectacular and well cared for in many ways. The hotel is walking distance to everything we want in Kyoto, room is super clean and comfortable. Highly recommend

Fantastic location close to main shopping area, food and train stations. Easy self service check in. Rooms
are modern and comfortable.
Not much to dislike - favourite hotel we stayed in on our trip.

Spotlessly clean, good location.
I didn’t like the automated check-in. I would have preferred a regular check-in. Contact with a person instead of a machine is more personal especially when one is tired from a trip. Person to person contact especially in Japan was what I expected. Besides, it ensures employment and is therefore good for the economy. Also, they don’t arrange in-house massages which I found surprising for a Japanese hotel

Great bed and pillows, we slept very well. Breakfast was good but not great.
There was a strand of hair in the bath tub and some dust on the dressing table. This is Japan, so one expects a very high standard when it comes to cleanliness. Most of the staff were very helpful but one older man at the front desk was not. This is an extremely busy hotel, lots of tourists always coming and going, so be patient.

For a very busy hotel, the front desk and meal services were punctual and courteous. The lobby area was very attractive with lots of seating. This was important as we were often waiting for others to join us for shopping and sightseeing. The location of the hotel put us right in the middle of the main commercial areas.
This hotel met our expectations. We were on a family reunion with 19 people. Since the hotel served large groups, it was a good match. Nothing to dislike. We were on the right side of the river! Many restaurants and shops were right outside the door.

The location is fantastic, the room was spacious, good value, and clean. While the hotel doesn’t have a lot of facilities, it was perfect for a trip where you are planning to be out and about most of the day and looking for a nice and convenient place to sleep.

Location super convenient for sightseeing shopping nightlife restaurants close to subway and taxis. Super clean and large room. Helpful staff. Free water available everyday. Good value for money
The automated check-in.: we felt it does not justice to the helpfulness and overall positive attitude of the staff.
The lack of stairs to reach the lobby and main exit (there are emergency stairs of course but they end up somewhere odd and but you are forced to use the lift if you want to exit from the main door).
