The idea behind Vasilikata is really great, restaure buildings in a mountain cabin style with all the comfort one desire. The environment on the Lassithi Plateau is exquisite.
Just so you know, during our stay there was no wifi network but we could use our own cellular internet so we were not bothered by it.

Our visit began with the realization that the Deluxe apartment lacked a kitchen. We couldn't avail the breakfast option since my wife has a specific diet, and we prefer cooking our own meals at home. This was our oversight; we didn't notice when reserving the apartment that there was no kitchen. The host offered us another apartment with a kitchen, a Studio Apartment, for the same price. We agreed. What did we like? Polite, friendly host, good communication (we inquired about Wi-Fi and were provided with a portable device for Wi-Fi access). The kitchen had everything necessary, except perhaps olive oil. There's parking available. Convenient shower with a curtain, and a hairdryer is provided. Some might appreciate that the apartment is kept in a very vintage style (carpets on the walls, a fireplace, a chandelier resembling branches, an old rocking chair), although I personally didn't find it appealing and felt somewhat creepy. For those who enjoy sitting outside, there's a table and two chairs.
Location. This was my second oversight, alongside the kitchen issue. I should have checked in advance that getting to any destination from this place would take a considerable amount of time. It seemed like a central point between the north and the south, but in reality, it was challenging to reach. We were prepared to endure an hour's drive to the southern beaches, but as it turned out, the hour-long drive as shown by Google Maps was an unpaved, bumpy, rocky mountain road. Such a road could only be navigated by an off-road vehicle, not a car like a Fiat Panda. We could only reach Zeus's Cave quickly; there were no other interesting places in the vicinity.
What else didn't we like? The entire village seemed deserted. The Studio Apartment is situated in a way that it's quite dim inside, combined with the old interior, the rocking chair, and the elderly walking stick – all of this psychologically invoked a sense of horror in me, and it wasn't peaceful to sleep at night. Moreover, it was stuffy, and there's no air conditioning in the apartment.
There's no shade in the parking lot, and the car was subjected to intense heat.
There was nothing to keep us in this place. We left the apartment after just two nights, even though I had paid for six nights. Thus, I agreed to throw money away (which I never do). We moved to another apartment and didn't regret it.

You never know what you are going to find in out-of-the way places. In Ag. Konstantinos, a village of 175 people, we found Vasilikata guest houses. Our villa was comprised largely of stone inside with loads of room. The owner, Aliki Dialina, had stocked our refrigerator with plenty of food.. The villa was very clean and had everything we needed. It was an excellent place to stay in the Lassithi Plateau.

you couldn’t see it when you were asleep,
breakfast was excellent, if double the expected price, probably because it is provided by a third party down the lane.
the publicity photographs are a model of deceit, the interior of the built-into-the-bedrock rooms will never ever be as bright as the images depict. Wi-Fi is promised but is transient. hot water was entirely absent as, conspicuously, was the owner from both the premises and the reception building. A plumber appeared and disappeared as we were leaving.

Excelent location, very friendly host. The hommade stawbery and apple jams at breakfast!
The breakfast even thought it was extremely rich as a buffet, the items were cold.

Beautiful, warm, cozy and clean old apartment with fire place and kitchen.
The shower didn't get too warm, but it was ok, when not fully turning the water up.

We stayed in the ground floor apartment during the winter (January) for 8 days. Our apartment had its own kitchen, making our stay much easier. There are not many restaurants in the village open during the winter, so we were able to cook simple meals for ourselves in our kitchen.
Check-in was very easy. Aliki gave us a few maps of the village, plateau, and hiking trails.
Breakfast: Our first breakfast we served at our apartment. Aliki brought a buffet of food for us to choose from. It was delicious but we definitely preferred the breakfast that Aliki prepares for guests in the shared Breakfast house. She cooks a wide range of fresh, delicious foods.
Location: Middle of nowhere! It seems like most people pass through for a day or two but we LOVED the extended solitude of this quiet village. Malia is very close, so we were able to pick up groceries and eat out on occasion. There are plenty of hiking trails near by and nature trails to explore. (PS - DO NOT ALWAYS TRUST YOUR GPS - it will lead you down some weird, dangerous roads)
Apartment: Well equipped kitchen, fireplace, good wifi, living room/lounge area, and the most comfortable bed ever (I'm 6 months pregnant, so this was a huge win for me). The building itself was unique in that it retains most of its original stone work. It was by far my favorite stay in our 3 week trip to Greece.
Just one thing to note:
The shower is quite small. It took us some practice to not spray water all over the bathroom. It added to the charm of our experience once we got used to it.

Out of the six properties on our Crete holiday this was the one I was looking forward to the most, and it didn't disappoint. A beautiful renovated stone house in a tiny hamlet with very friendly locals, we were gifted some freshly baked bread by our neighbours! Comfy bed and beautiful fireplace with a seating area outside. Only the bathroom lets it down a bit, would be better as a wet room due to the small space and ditch the hand held shower and the toilet bowl was a bit grim. Breakfast was taken in another house and was amazing with so much choice. If you want to sample real Cretan life then stay here.

We stayed at Vasilikata for two nights. We met Aliki at the Reception building and she drove us to the house where we stayed. Reception is also a small shop selling local handicrafts, herbs, wine, etc.
We booked a small room, but Aliki generously offered a much larger one, which we accepted.
It was clean and well furnished. It had a kitchen which was well equipped, with electric coffee pot, microwave, and plenty of crockery.
We also found coffee, sugar, salt, pepper, etc. This generosity continued. We were given a decanter of raki make by Aliki’s father. I enjoyed a drink of raki after dinner. (There are two restaurants within a ten minute walk - bring a torch).
The next morning we walked to a nearby house where a breakfast buffet was provided. It was worthy of an expensive five star hotel. Freshly made juice from locally grown peaches, fresh pears, pomegranates, apples, grapes, oranges, etc. All are grown locally. When I expressed an interest, Aliki invited us to see her family farm. There was also omelette, cold meats, cheese, cakes and we were offered freshly fried eggs.
Coffee and mountain tea, (gathered locally of course) were also provided.
Breakfast is €7.50 per person and was fantastic value.
Aliki is renovating farmhouses in the village, including the one we stayed in. We experienced genuine Greek hospitality at Vasilikata and recommend it highly.

It was a really exclusive stay in our appartment. It is placed in an old town, the owner renovates old houses and rents them. The rooms are really nice decorated and look lovely! The bed is very comfortable!! It is so silent in the town so that we had a really good sleep at night. We also need to mention the breakfast that was served as a buffet in another house some minutes wald, so lovely and delicious food! We highly recommend to stay at this accomodation when possible!

Amazing flat in an old house of Lassiti Plateau, tastefully restored and furnished. The best part of the stay was the cooking class with our host, Aliki. We got to visit the farm of her family and we cooked together the best Cretan dinner that I ever had ! I totally recommend it if you want to try the real Cretan dishes, Aliki makes you feel like you are part of the family.
Nothing at all, everything was beyond expectations !

I really enjoyed being in a wonderful renovated village cottage with a very attractive interior and plenty of amenities. The host was exceptionally hospitable and provided a splendid breakfast. I was impressed by the efforts to put life back into the village and retain its traditions.
The shower could do with an upgrade from being small, hand held and poorly screened off by a shower curtain.

Wow. Absolutely beautiful accommodation in a traditional Lasithi town. Aliki, the owner, has spent enormous amounts of time and effort to refurbish and rebuild multiple properties throughout the village. Breakfast was homemade, tasty and plentiful. A wonderful welcoming experience in a special part of Crete

Oh WOW... this is a must for anyone passing through the Lasithi Plateau... Aliki, the owner is so friendly and welcomed us with a warm friendly smile even though it was fairly late at night. She ensured we were comfortable with the room choices and provided us with some great recommendations for dinner. The room was clean, very spacious and comfortable - the best night's rest to be had here where it is quietly romantic. Breakfast far exceeded our expectations and was most certainly the best we had during our 2 week stay in Crete. The spread was endless! Thank you for a superb stay!

Everything was really good! The amazing host offered a cooking class and wonderful traditional experience. We went to a farm together, collected veggies and fruits and cooked together. It was one of our best experiences on Crete! The room and the breakfast were outstanding too. Definitely recommend

The breakfast Is full of typical products and One of the best I've experienced in Crete. I expecially recommend Vasilikata if you want to see something unusual that you won't see anywhere else in Crete. You'll be pleasantly surprised. Also the owner, Ali, Is super friendly and gently.
