Driftwood cottage is secluded, clean, and well-equipped. We enjoyed sitting on the porch listening to the buoy bell ring and watching the baby deer. The house was immaculate and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. My husband appreciated that the kitchen was well-appointed. We will definitely be back.

The house is really cute and comfortable. It worked out perfectly for my family if 4. My kids especially loved the playset outside! It was very nice to be able to walk to the Bass Harbor Lighthouse, because parking down there was a little chaotic! The only thing to note is if you are sensitive to dogs and have allergies you may want to bring your allergy medicine along. The house was very clean, but if you have allergies you know!

We had a blast! Never stayed in the quiet side and everything was so delightful. Hikes nearby for the whole family to enjoy and the home was better than advertised!

We had a wonderful stay. The house was very clean and had so many thoughtful extra amenities. Great hosts and beautiful location! We loved our stay on the 'quiet side' of the island.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Driftwood Cottage. The house was fully stocked with everything we needed to help us enjoy the area during the week. House was extremely clean and well suited for our family of 4. The kids loved the bunkbeds and swing set. The yard was open and we enjoyed the deer that visited each day. Location was great for accessing everything around the island. The owner even put in a window air unit in the master that was very helpful for my wife. Highly recommend this VRBO!

Joseph and Christina's house is a quiet, clean, well-appointed house in a great location. It's on the quieter side of Mt. Desert Island (which was great for our family). Bass Harbor Head Light is right down the road (walking distance), and the lovely little town of Southwest Harbor is a short drive up the road. Bar Harbor and the big sights in Acadia NP are a just a short drive away. We loved our stay at Driftwood.

Clean, well kept house in a quiet out-of-the-way spot.

Our family had a great time at this well appointed home. Anything we needed was there and everything was labeled with great instructions and local advice. We would definitely stay there again if in the area.

The house is very well stocked with all necessary supplies. We stopped here for 4 days during a Canada/East Coast drive and it was everything we needed for a short stay. The house has a lot of great details if you're traveling with young kids! The location was OK, it is on the quieter side of the island but we found that most days we needed to drive over to the Bar Harbor side of the island (especially for groceries). The proximity to the lighthouse was great.
Overall it was a great stay and we would consider staying again. Thanks!

This house was perfect for us. It was very clean, comfortable, and beautifully furnished. It felt like home. We saw a couple of deer every day. Such a treat. We also went to the Bass Harbor light just down the street. We highly recommend checking it out. If we ever get back to Acadia, we will stay here again.

We really enjoyed staying here with our family on a trip to see Mount Desert Island (MDI) and Acadia.
This was our kids first time being to MDI and having this house was perfect. The yard was great so they could run around and play on the swing set. Also, the kitchen was very well equipped so we were able to make multiple meals (you bring your own groceries) without having to go out. This makes it much more pleasant when traveling with kids. Our kids also enjoyed the multitude of items available for them to play with in the bunk room (crayons, drawing books, etc.).
Last time we came to MDI we (as a couple) stayed in Bar Harbor. Being on the quiet side of the island was perfect for us. Two of the most kid-friendly trails on the island (Wonderland and Ship Harbor) are minutes from the house by car.
One of the highlights was how close this is to Bass Harbor Head Light. We were able to walk (about 5-10 minutes) on an evening where there was a beautiful sunset which meant **lots** of people wanted to go see it too. There was a line of cars to get into the tiny parking lot and we just walked right in. LOL
For our family, this was a fantastic stay.

We enjoyed our stay here for 3 nights. It was within walking distance to the Bass Harbor light house and very close to some great restaurants and shops on the "quiet side" of the island. Bar Harbor, Acadia, etc. very easily drivable. The house was very clean and we were SO grateful that all basic amenities were provided. It is on a secluded street with plenty of privacy. Enough so that we were a little apprehensive when we first drove up because the surrounding houses and the yard looked a little shady like from a horror film, but we're still alive and nothing unusual happened so we'd probably come back again. :)

Wonderful stay :)

Driftwood Cottage was a fantastic getaway from Boston. The place was clean and gorgeous and had everything as advertised. The grill was supplied with propane, the hosts were responsive and helpful, and the beds were comfortable. The house is about 30 minutes from Acadia NP proper, but the surrounding area is just as remote and beautiful. The stars were brilliant and the area was quiet and filled with deer. I would highly recommend staying here and hope to return some time soon.

We loved our stay at Driftwood Cottage, so disappointed we only stayed for two nights. Very tasteful decor, high spec fixtures.
And deer in the garden!!

This is a great rental home in fantastic location close to the Bass Harbor lighthouse. It is clean, comfortable and pet friendly. Excellent communication with property management re check in and procedures. I wouldn't hesitate to book again when in the area. It was great

Quiet, peaceful and comfortable. All the things we were looking for!
This was our first trip to Acadia and I am so happy we found this location. Bass Harbor and Southwest Harbor are definitely the quieter side of the island. Still closely located to all of the Acadia attractions.
Numerous great food locations close by to fit anyone’s style.
The house was clean and comfortable. The owners have thought of everything and you feel at home when you walk in.
Thank you for a great stay!

We stayed in the fall, the house was perfect for the two of us and our dog. The house was very clean and comfortable. It was nice to come back to a quieter area after being in the downtown area. The large yard was an added bonus! Just a tip, the internet connection is spotty at times driving on the island and we would lose our google map navigation. Would recommend to screenshot the directions as a back up.

This was a great cottage to stay at, and it was very well appointed and stocked. The location was great within walking distance to the Bass Head lighthouse, so you can avoid the line of cars. It's located back in the woods off of a private drive and feels very quiet and secluded. We saw a deer as we were pulling in and I am sure they are regular visitors. Another HUGE plus was having the laundry facilities, complete with complementary detergent and laundry sanitizer. We stayed here for the last night of our trip, and being able to do laundry was such a great relief. The only thing that some people might take issue with was that it did have a smell of dogs that was evident upon entering. Didn't bother us overly much, but something that might be an issue for others. Overall, it was a great stay, and I am grateful for our time at Driftwood Cottage.

Nice place. Great location

Very clean property, we saw deer and turkey from the front porch while we were there! Easy walk to light house near by. Kitchen was well stocked for all we needed. They even provided laundry detergent for washing clothes- there was no soap in bathtub which is unusual, so bring your own just on case. Great place to stay near Arcadia National park.

What a beautiful property in an unbelievable place. The house was immaculate. We have a special needs daughter that this place was perfect for. Abundance of wildlife in the area and the Bass Harbor Lighthouse was awesome. First time to this area of the country and we will be back. When we do, Driftwood Cottage will be our place to stay. Thanks for having such a great place and making it available.

We loved our time in Bass Harbor. The house had everything we needed. It was close enough to Bar Harbor and Southeast Harbor, but far enough away to be quiet. We loved exploring Seawall and the nature cruise we took.

We had such a lovely stay at Driftwood Cottage! We are a family of two parents and two kids and this was our first visit to Maine and Acadia National Park. The house was exactly as we expected and all communication was friendly, timely, and thorough. We loved all of the details for kids (kid-friendly dishware, play set, some toys, the bunk beds), and appreciated the scent-free laundry detergent and dryer sheets. The house has everything we could have possibly needed! We enjoyed staying on the quiet side of the island and loved walking to the lighthouse in the evenings. The Wonderland trail is just a short distance away and has breathtaking sunsets. We also liked relaxing in the chairs on the deck. We're already looking forward to coming back for another visit!

The property was exactly as described. The house was very clean and fully stocked with necessary supplies (toilet paper, paper towels, tissues, cleaning supplies). We enjoyed being so close to the Bass Harbor lighthouse and a beautiful drive to Acadia National park. We hope to return in the near future!

Glad we booked this place back in November for July! It was the perfect place for our family - which includes big dogs who are used to roaming our land. Very clean. Very nice. Beds are very comfortable. - The king was a Purple foam mattress with a pillow top on it. The other beds were similar. Everyone slept well. Furniture is nice and comfortable. Living room is very spacious. Kitchen is stocked and has high end appliances - gas stove. Laundry room is every mom's dream. Tide free and clear is on tap - frontload Whirlpool washer and dryer. Closet in laundry room is stocked with toilet paper and paper towels. Swing set is fun for the kids. Kids' room is stocked with crayons, coloring books, etc. Decor is tasteful. Lots of reading by local authors. Recommend.

My wife, myself and our dog have stayed at this house for a week the past two summers and we absolutely love it. The house is immaculate and the location is tremendous. Being able to hear the buoy and fog horn from the Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse just down the road is so relaxing. The house has everything you can think of for a great vacation.

The house was very clean and cute! The kitchen was very well stocked in spices, cooking utensils, pots and pans.

The cottage was exactly as advertised. The place was very clean, in a great location and so pet friendly. My wife, myself and our pop really enjoyed our stay!

The cottage is lovely and clean. The hosts think of everything you might need. Although I have not met the hosts, they appear to be very kind and considerate people. The setting is quiet and very comfortable. When we arrived there were two deer in the yard to greet us. Within walking distance to the Bass Harbor lighthouse and Acadia hiking trails. However, you are close enough to Bar Harbor is you need the excitement of a resort town. What a wonderful cottage these people are willing to share with you!

We enjoyed our stay here while in town for a family reunion! It’s a lovely, quiet spot and the house (clearly recently updated/renovated) is clean, organized, and well-stocked. We also appreciated how dog-friendly it was and loved being such a short walk from the Bass Harbor Light.

My family and I stayed here in early June for our visit to Acadia. The house was the cleanest, most well organized, and accommodating Vrbo that we have stayed in. The accommodations for young kids was a very nice and welcomed touch as well.
The distance from the park does take up some of your time, but we didn’t mind and never felt like it ended up being that long of a drive by the time you take in the scenery and enjoy how quiet it is at the house.
One of the best bonus perks for us was having the Bass Harbor Lighthouse just a 5 minute walk away! We visited the lighthouse every morning and evening.
We would definitely return to this house next time we make it up to Acadia!

The house had everything we needed to enjoy our days in Acadia and then relax in the evenings with the family. Thanks for letting us include our four legged family members on the adventure.

My family stayed at the Driftwood Cottage in Bass Harbor in June and couldn't have been more pleased with the property and host. The cottage was spotless, amenities were many (and very well organized), beds were comfy and the location was very quiet and peaceful - we felt safe in the area which is very important to us. The kitchen was well stocked and we had everything we needed and much more. Our hosts, Joseph and Christina, were so very kind and responsive and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was top notch. We would love to come back again and stay longer. Thanks for sharing such a lovely place in the beautiful state of Maine.

The home was perfect for our family vacation. It was extremely clean and had everything we needed for our stay. It was also very close to the beautiful Bass Harbor lighthouse. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you.

This is a nice clean house located on a private gravel road walking distance to Bass Head Harbor Lighthouse. It had a well stocked kitchen and the location was very peaceful. Wild turkey and white-tailed deer regularly strolled through the property.
A few notes:
The hosts request no shoes in the house, so if your feet get cold, pack slippers.
A lot of MDI doesn't have good cell phone reception -- neither did the house -- but the internet provided was fine!
The toilet is one of the higher types and then installed about 1 1/4" above the floor level making it somewhat uncomfortable for adults. There is a stool provided for little kids.
The driveway has a streetlight which is great for security, not so great for star gazing.
The pictured path through the woods has been closed by the rangers with stern signs warning about trespassing, so the only way to access the coast is to go to the lighthouse, which is about 1/2 mile.
We enjoyed our stay at Driftwood Cottage.

We loved being by Wonderland and the Bass Harbor Lighthouse for our trip to Acadia. It was perfect for our family. We made fresh local fish and pasta in the kitchen and it was very well stocked to do everything we needed. We played catch on the front lawn, the kids swang in the swing, and the we walked to the lighthouse for the sunset.

We book this house twice a year. It's a private area, but located close enough to Bar Harbor & Acadia National Park. Our October stay is already booked!
