About this cabin rental
Charming family-owned log cabin, 9 miles past Idaho City on scenic Hwy 21 in the Boise National Forest. Creek runs in front of the house. Hiking/biking trails nearby. Idaho City is 10 minutes drive from the Cabin. Most summer nights provide for spectacular stargazing. If you are looking to disconnect and spend a peaceful weekend rejuvenating in nature, this is the place for you. Easy access from Hwy 21, no need for 4 wheel drive. We provide Satellite wifi and we have used it to search the internet, check email, and conduct Zoom calls without a problem, but it doesn't work well when trying to make phone calls using a cell phone. If you call on FB messenger, WhatsApp or other apps it works.
The house was built in 1937 and is situated on 1.34 acres of land with pine trees all around. Outside fire-pit for roasting the perfect smores. Plenty of parking. Fully furnished with pots, pans, and utensils. Wood burning fireplace. Running hot water. 15 minutes to The Springs - Premier Hot Springs Retreat in Idaho City, 1 hour and 40 minutes to Stanley, 45 minutes to Lowman and Kirkham hot springs. Check-in time: 4pm (we will let you know if you can check-in early depending on availability). Check out time: 12pm.

Very clean. Quiet. Kids loved too!

Cabin was beautiful along with the scenery. Wifi wasn't great, but glad we didn't have any technology to take away from family time. Solar power was also tricky on the cloudy days. Overall we enjoyed our time and the outdoor patio was the favorite for the family

We enjoyed our stay here. All amenities were as described, so there were no surprises. The place was clean on our arrival. The yard and outdoor kitchen were the main attraction for all our activities, especially the foosball table. The surrounding area was great for walking and geo-caching. Idaho City is just a short drive and has some interesting shops and other activities. Great place to stay. Thanks

What an absolutely beautiful property. We had a group of six and loved our weekend getaway. The property was clean, safe, well-appointed, fully-stocked, and so cozy! Exactly what we needed for a weekend away from the hustle and bustle.

What a wonderful location, great accommodations!
The owners were nothing but fantastic to deal with. Excellent location, they have clearly poured a lot into this property in heart and soul and we appreciated every bit of it. The outdoor patio was definitely a favorite of the group!
Can’t say enough good things about this stay.

Several groups of friends came up for a quick weekend away. Cabin was everything we needed and more. We had 4 pickups and trailers and parking was a little tight but we made it work. Thanks for a beautiful place!

Not enough wash clothes, the water was cold in the shower. It only has solar power so the water never got hot.
There were bugs, even in our beds, the comforters had stains on them. The cabin had mildew and wasn’t clean.

Property was exceptionally clean, kitchen fully stocked. Well-maintained rustic cabin w/ off-grid modern convenience. Beautiful lawn with outdoor gathering places. Creek sounds are soothing, fire pit tucked away in a gorgeous forest setting. Hope to stay again.

It's important to understand that this is an old family cabin that's 100 years old, not somebody's vacation home. The improvements to the bathrooms and the fully functional kitchen make it super comfortable. I loved that it was on the obter side of the river from the highway and behind a gate. The river kept the highway noise down. The highway is a small two lane road but gets used often enough by recreationists
There's a campground on the other r side of the river, but nobody was there so we didn't have any issues with noise from them either. The location is super convenient, far enough from town that it feels secluded but close enough to run in for water or dinner. Going the other direction, there are so many hiking trails nearby! I also loved the updated windows in the outside with the original, swing open windows in the inside. We opened out inner windows to get fresh air and listen to the creek thru the screens.
Despite it's age, this is one of the cleanest rentals I've ever stayed in. There is a lot of attention to detail. If I had to find fault with anything, it's that the water pressure is really low in the showers, but I was just greatful to have a shower so it didn't bother me. Use the shower upstairs, it heats up faster. The stove downstairs works really well, our dog loved curling up next to it. We also spent a lot of time sitting in the front porch while our dog explored the huge, beautiful yard. If we hike this area again, this would be our first choice.

My wife and I were blown away by this cabin. Going from the desert to here felt like traveling to another planet.
The property is private with every amenity you could want or need. The hosts were very quick with communication. 5 stars, would love to rent again!

Had a wonderful time! Place was very neat and clean, lots of kitchen utensils which made cooking a breeze, and they have built a new gazebo that was lovely to sit under for mealtimes. We will definitely be back next year!

Creek side relaxation
Upon arrival, we were impressed about the overall size of the property, along with the spaciousness of the cabin. The (unfinished) gazebo was an excellent place to hang out during the heat of the day. The owner warned us to be careful using it since it wasn’t quite done yet, which we were fine with. The yard was large and plenty of room for playing yard games. The grass was rather long, so that did draw more bugs in but it was better than no yard at all. The beds were fairly comfortable and there was enough for us all. The only complaint that we had was that the host tried to contact me the night before we checked out to tell me her father in law was going to be working in the yard the next day before we checked out. He was very nice, but we still felt kind of rushed to get out of there early so he could do his work. Overall, I would rate this experience a 9/10. I would probably stay here again if we were in the area.

Great Get Away
Location feels totally private although you are just off the main highway. The cabin is comfortable and cozy, and all the outdoor spaces and lawn are perfect for hanging out, playing games and enjoying your vacation away from it all.

Family Get-Away
We loved our stay at this peaceful cabin in the woods. Lots of things to explore. We found some hiking trails, and we also spent a great day visiting the town of Idaho City and a very cool old cemetary. I would definitely go back.

Weekend in the woods
My family and I enjoyed a peaceful weekend at this cabin. It is just an hour from Boise, but felt like a world away. Unlike many of the cabins we saw on the way, this one sits in a beautiful clearing. The grounds gave the kids many places to run and play. We also took a long hike up the mountain on a dirt road, so plenty do explore outskde. The cabin itself is rustic looking, but upgraded bathrooms and decent beds, along with solar and propane power and heat reflect the modetn upgrades. The kitchen is tiny, but we took this as an opportunity to fine tune our communication and prep skills! Thank you for opening your family cabin to my family. We've made good memories here this weekend.

Great Time with the Family!
Our family of 12 adults stayed in this beautiful property for 3 nights. We loved the large area around the house, and spent most of our time outside barbecuing and enjoying each other's company. The five bedrooms were adequate for our needs, with lots of closets and dressers to unpack our things. The kitchen is small, but was well equiped to cook our meals. Unfortunately we were unable to use the internet at all during our stay. All of us with Iphones and Ipads could not get any service to even make a call. We finally just unpluged the router so that we could use the outlet to charge our phones. There are not many outlets in the cabin, so we had to take turns. If we needed to make a call, we had to drive the 10 miles to Idaho city to do that. The tv's did not work. The rooms were very hot at night and there is only one industrial size fan in the entire cabin to help cool it down. I wish this would have been made clearer to us when we read the amenities available to us. Despite this, we had a great time just being in the mountains in such a beautiful spot. We fished, and cooked and laughed at the "resident" turkey, hit up the hot springs and went to town in Idaho City one night. I would definitely stay at this cabin again. Just don't come with expectations of internet or phone service. I would also suggest more fans in the house for future guests as it can be very hot even with the windows open.

10/10 would reccomend.
My family and I had an amazing vacation at this property. It was absolutely beautiful and relaxing. The hostess was awesome and answered every question I had quickly and in detail. We highly recommend this place and look forward to possibly coming back in the future.

We had a nice, peaceful stay with a creek running next to the property for dogs to play in. House stayed cooled most of the time. Upstairs was a little warm with high 90 degree temperatures. Another fan or blockout curtains may have helped to keep the upper floor cooler. Had family from Boise join us for a great reunion dinner!
