- Pérez Gazga Avenue: Pérez Gazga Avenue, also known as both "El Adoquin" or "La Zona Adoquinada," is the main tourist avenue offering anything a visitor could need including bars, restaurants, and cafes, tour operators, scuba diving rental, and handicraft shops. The street becomes pedestrian-only after five in the afternoon when locals and tourists flood the street to eat and socialize.
- Playa Principal: West of Zicatela is the best beach for swimming and novice surfers. Playa Principal is also the most central to town as it spreads out behind the beach with a large number of restaurants and shops. This is also where fishermen dock and boat tours depart.
- Andador Escénico : West of Playa Principal is a scenic stone walkway called Andador Escénico, with a lighthouse above it. Beyond the trail lie the quiet Playa Manzanillo and more boisterous Puerto Angelito, where you can also find a handful of family-owned restaurants in thatch-roofed palapas.

- Playa Zicatela: Both wide and long, Playa Zicatela is perfect for relaxing and strolling, but it is also known for it’s huge waves and strong undertow, making it a heaven for surfing and a poor choice for swimming. It has been called “Mexico’s Pipeline” for this reason, with its similarity to Oahu’s Pipeline, and major international surf competitions are held here annually. There is a promenade lined with restaurants and the neighborhood is dotted with accommodations.
- Bahia Principe: This neighborhood is on the beach side of La Costera and Centro downtown and is the tourist-focused, cultural hub that includes a great many restaurants, shops, tour operators, and Playa Principal.
- Playa Bacocho: Playa Bacocho is the most western development in Playa Escondido. The beach is a stretch of soft sand with blue-green water with many accommodations and beach clubs behind it.
