- The bed / mattress was very comfortable.
- The room was quite spacious.
- Lots of towels in the room.
- The staff was friendly and helpful.
- Sparse but tasteful decorations in the room.
- The hotel is very noisy (loud music, dogs barking, guests chatting), there is a pool + bar that is in the central courtyard to which many habitations are directed to. So keep that in mind if you're sensitive to noise.
- No table / chairs in the room I had.
- Not much space in the bathroom to put your accessories.
- No elevator, just stairs (not recommended for people who use a wheelchair).
- Breakfast is a bit too expensive for what is offered.
- Sluggish WLAN.

The bed was super comfortable, as well as the aircon meant I slept super well my entire stay. The common areas are also very nice to spend some time in the shade during the warmest time of day. Beaches within walking distance. Regarding value for money I'd say it's a great deal.
It's true that as other people have mentioned it could be a bit cleaner i.e. the furniture looks a tad worn down, floor could have been vacuumed due to sand etc. The windows are also paper thin but if you have earplugs and you're tired you will sleep fine.

The hotel was nice and comfortable and the main area was very well laid out. I ended up arriving a day late to my reservation but I called the hotel beforehand and they were able to keep my room for me.
I only had a limited time in Puerto Escondido so not sure how great the location is in relation to nightlife, but it was quite close to the Playa Bacocho where I went to do the baby sea turtle release (every day at 5pm).
The pool area looked great although I unfortunately didn’t have time to use it. The bedroom was comfortable and the shower and bathroom were great.

The hotel went out of their way to help us. They stored our luggage while we took a side trip

Breakfast was exceptional! I would say this is the main reason to stay here, you also have the turtle release expereince close by and its close to central if you want to explore inland! Staff were super friendly and helpful also! The room had aircon!
I would say the rooms need a bit of updating, but overall we had everything we needed.

The staff is wonderful and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast restaurant on the top floor is very nice!
Unfortunately we couldn't sleep because of the dogs barking next door all night.

The restaurant, Moli, is beautiful and serves delicious breakfast & coffee. The staff at the restaurant and hotel are all so lovely and helpful, we really enjoyed being served by the barman, Angel! The pool area and bar were so relaxing!

The location was nice.
There were bugs in the bathroom, ants and earwigs.

It was such a nice stay, cute little place and the swimming pool is def a plus. The restaurant has a nice view and breeze. The staff was very friendly, kind and helpful.
The rooms should be cleaned better. I mentioned this at the hotel and they acted immediately by sending the cleaner over again. But the room was still not clean really.
Overall the whole place can use a little bit of a freshening up. Maybe the reason was covid, less customers so less maintenance needed..?

staff were very friendly and helpful. This is a really cool hotel, there’s a great atmosphere and it’s sociable, the rooftop restaurant was amazing, some of the best breakfast food I’ve had in Puerto Escondido and there is a pool bar.
the lighting in the room could’ve been better and general cleanliness. I think we may have had a room that wasn’t the best but the lighting was quite dark. Overall the size and structure of the room is good and comfortable, there’s just some cosmetics that may need improving.

Very nice and kind stuff! Nice place, in walking distance to the beautiful beach! Huge comfortable bed!
The shower cabin in the bathroom could be better cleaned. Noise from the pool area.

Staff was okay
Internet doesn't work and TV doesn't work, in 2022 it's unacceptable.
6.0 / 10.0
Good wifi for working
Nice restaurant and work areas
Helpful staff who let us change room when requested
Felt a bit tired in terms of decor. The rooftop bar appeared incomplete.
Initially given very dark room which was meant to be a deluxe junior suite

Terrible for $100usd/night.
I expected the room to at least be clean. We walked in the room and it was visibly dirty. I went around with a few Lysol wipes and picked up lots of dust and hair and dirt from the side tables by the bed and on the light switches and in the bathroom. Took me 3 minutes to wipe these surfaces around the room with Lysol wipes so there should be no reason it was not done.
The wipes were visibly dirty after I went over the surfaces.
I honestly think they only changed the sheets and towels and swept the floor. Nothing smelt like cleaning product when we walked in.
Overall the condition of the room looked poor. Rusted metal on lights and taps.
The air conditioner was noisy and did not seem to work efficiently.
The door did not lock correctly from the outside.
The bath towels were hard. One was ripped.
There were no hangers in the closet. A closet without hangers.
No mini fridge.
The lounge area downstairs had ants everywhere and the pool is green- not taken care of well at all. I only put my feet in.
Terrible location. Noisy dogs outside. Not sure this block is the safest place in the area. And it’s a long walk to the beach compared to many other guest houses you will pass on your way to the beach.
Overall I just expected more for $100/night at the very least to not have to wipe my own room when I walked in.
I would not recommend anyone book this place for this price.
I think the hotel is aging and not being taken care of well. The pictures they have online certainly do not match what is offered today. And so I hope my review will let them see they need to lower their prices if they are offering these low standards.
Giving some credit for nice staff who greeted us when we walked in and they were around still after dark to help us when we had a few questions.

The hotel is nice, the staff friendly and ready to help. There's a nice pool and a roof restaurant that serves breakfast (with very good coffee).
The problem with this hotel is the noise. They play loud music constantly from the pool area, until late at night (they said it stops at 10pm but it goes later than that) and you can hear it from your room. In the morning you can hear the hotel' staff working, phone ringing, dogs barking... and you can't sleep properly. It's a pity because it's actually a nice hotel but overall we didn't have a good time here.

The restaurant food was very good as well as the staff were great in the restaurant.
The AC worked well.
The bed was comfortable as well as the comforter was soft.
The shower had hot water.
The drinks and service at the pool bar were good.
When we checked in the women at the front desk was not welcoming or friendly. The reception desk was covered in papers, boxes, random items that made it look messy and unprofessional.
When we went up to our room the door was wide open, the floor was dirty (still had sand all over it) and our towels we ripped and stained.
We contacted the reception around midnight as there were guests staying in the hotel who were allowing their dog to bark and let their kids run around screaming. I understand during the daytime and before 11 PM but after 11 PM this should not be allowed.
Also dog were peeing on the pots in the reception area and the person at the front desk was allowing this to happen. There should be more rules for those who bring dogs tot he hotel. Or at least have staff that hold people accountable for this bad behavior. I am a dog owner so nothing against dogs, just the lack of accountability of guests.
The safe was broken in our room.
The pool area was unclean with food on the floor from the people the previous night hanging around the pool.
This hotel needs to be updated, there are a variety of repairs and upkeep around the hotel - things like the floor tiles, light fixtures broken in the room, painting,

The location is in a noisy neighborhood with barking dogs to include a barking dog on property then never shut up, lots of people in and out made me feel unsafe, no security, bathroom was disgusting had long black hair in the shower and dirt on the floors, clearly had not been swept or mopped. Sheets had a burn hole and stain on it. Noisy location, questionable neighborhood, more like a ghetto hostel than a boutique hotel. The swimming pool is nasty, and clean and the cabanas around it are dirty and soiled. We will not be back and I do not recommend this place to anyone. Spend more money and stay near the beach. We paid for five nights and we could only tolerate two nights and then we left. That is how bad this place is!!!!

Clean room; comfortable bed; courteous, helpful and friendly staff at reception desk and in the dining area; on-site pool; frutos rujos bowls for breakfast; bright airy rooftop dining area; shuttle to aeropuerto; close to OXXO and Centro
Network connections were spotty

The room was nice and overall the hotel was in good shape. I really enjoyed the restaurant on top of the hotel. It is a small property but the space is well used.
There appeared to be some long term guests that made themselves at home. They had barking dogs and random stuff strewn about their balconies. It was trashy and I was annoyed by frequently barking dogs in the hotel. Also the wifi was horrible. I asked about it and was told it’s the whole city. But I went somewhere else that same day and had a perfect and fast connection.
Overall there are much better options in Puerto. I’ve stayed here 3 times and this will be my last.

Tastefully dedigned hotel. Small but nice room. Breakfast (not incl) very good, on rooftop terrace. Liked the pool and the free airport transfer.
Surroundings a wee bit sleezy. No elevator.

We have been staying at the Shavanna hotel for over a week now and have extended our stay until the 4/5th March. The reason for extending our stay was all down to the staff and how lovely they are. Every single one of the staff members are so welcoming and helpful. Living here in Puerto Escondido has been so much better since staying at the Shavanna Boutique. The food and drinks are exceptional and the staff will always go out of their way to help with anything! The cleanliness of the hotel is impeccable alongside the pool area and general living. We will come back to puerto again and would not stay anywhere other than the Shavanna! 10/10!!!!!
We loved EVERYTHING!
