The cottage was nice and relaxing. Wasn’t too pleased with the location for walking down to Front St, but overall stay was nice.

Quaint cabin. Clean and tidy interior. Everything worked, and they gave a nice gift basket! About a 5-10 minute walk to Front Street and the Natchitoches Downtown. I would rent from this host again for Christmas Fest!

We enjoyed our stay at this quaint cabin. We walked to Front Street, took a walking tour with Jacob, enjoyed a cruise on a paddle wheeler, and walked to mass on Sunday for an uplifting sermon. We also visited Melrose and Oakland Plantations! We were celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Natchitoches and the “Creole Cabin in the City!” PS....Our gift basket was a pleasant surprise and certainly appreciated!

Nice log house very conveniently located near town in Natchitoches. We walked to the Christmas Lights and fireworks. Had a great time. Our host, Marie was helpful. We made some special memories.

The property manager was awesome to work with, responded quickly to all correspondence and answering questions when I was in the property. It is a comfortable home close to shops and restaurants. The house was very clean, everything worked and I felt safe staying there. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and plan to be back next year.

Cabin is cute. The location is great to walk downtown for an amazing dinner or festival. We were able to pick this up last minute, and Maria took very good care of us. Would stay here again! It was our first time to this area and we will stay here again!

Excellent
I had an excellent stay. Everything was as described in the listing. This certainly is a historic cabin all the way down to the beautiful original hard wood floor. The people managing the property were exceptional nice and willing to do anything to improve my stay. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience, everything was great.

Sadly misrepresented
Couldn't wait to drive 4.5 hours for the Festival of Lights in Natchitoches! Got last minute reservations - told we just got the only spot left at the double. The other side was NEVER occupied while we were there... Now I know why!
Proximity to Front street was the only truth. Building is in poor shape. Not charmingly quirky as others have attested to- dirty, peeling paint, spiders, dead flies, musty smelling, and in sketchy, depressed neighborhood. Mattress is ancient and lumpy. Had to change my socks after walking on the floors. No greeting or specialty for opening holiday weekend, however Christmas tree was found decorated in a closet. No maid service, put out your own garbage, clean out the frig, lots of do this, don't do that.... or else an extra charge may be incurred. An up front cleaning fee imposed, yet property was not clean. I rent low income housing - this would never have passed any inspections for any of our tenants. Overpriced, underwhelmed, and feel totally taken advantage of. Could be a really great place if owner or manager would take the time to clean the fans, blinds and window sills, update the mattress and sofa with rips on the arm edges, get the paint out of the tub, and fix the kitchen cabinets. Empty curtain rods in bedroom give an unfinished look. Oh - and if you don't want people to burn candles, why leave a previously used one on the mantle? Oh - and don't forget the train that passes across the street at 3:30 am...
Finally - We had to wash our clothing and outerwear when we got home because it all smelled so dank after just two days!
Just to let possible visitors know - Almost every shop and restaurant is closed on Sunday- even on the opening weekend of Festival of Lights. Many of the shops closed on Saturday evening before the fireworks! And don't look for a breakfast spot - these are few and far between unless you want fast food joints or IHOP. Monday morning was just as desolate in the breakfast field. The best food we had was at Roma's on the other side of the bridge off of Kayser. Delicious Italian food and outstanding service.
My recommendation - stay at one of the bed and breakfasts on Second Street or Front Street or the Chateau St Denis if you want to enjoy yourself and sleep well.

This cabin has a lot of character. Love the old hardwood floors and the large bedroom. The only issue that would have made it better is the air conditioner not being able to keep up with the heat during the day. Wonderful stay!

Convenient, but needs repairs and updating
We stayed here when we visited Natchitoches for the Christmas Festival. The location was a ten minute walk to Front Street, which was convenient and does not require negotiating parking. The neighborhood where the cabin is was quiet but run down. The cabin was cute on the outside but it has been neglected for repairs and updates. The cabin needs to be leveled and repairs to the floor and walls needed where it is sinking. Wasp nests on the front of the house need to be cleaned up and overall updating to the bathroom and kitchen would improve the look and feel. It was pretty expensive given the deterioration of the cabin. They could also offer more television channels (very few offered), movies/DVD player, and board games would be nice to provide additional entertainment when weather is bad. The host was nice and check in/out was easy. We won’t stay here again though until more money and work is put in to the upkeep of this place.

Nice getaway
This cabin is a no-nonsense and no thrills type of property. For my husband and I, that worked out just fine. As other reviewers might have mentioned the pictures paint a better picture oh, I agree with that however there's absolutely nothing wrong with the cabin. It's close to everything that you would want to do in the area. And we found the neighborhood to be very quiet.

Older home but quaint
Our stay was very relaxing! It’s close to the river walk . We had everything we needed linens , towels , dishes etc . Even a coffee pot and coffee . The home is an older cabin duplex but was comfortable. The neighborhood was very quiet and peaceful. Nice to be close to town without hearing town . It’s the best of both worlds! I’d stay again !

Clean but could use update
The cabin was clean but because of some water damage the cabin could use some upgrades. The entry door was sticking and lots of peeling wall paper!

Great location, quaint house, enjoyed our stay.
The house was very comfortable and clean. The location is great! Walking distance to restaurants, shopping, and close to the college. We loved our stay!

Relaxing and homey
Very quiet. Roomy and comfortable. Would have been nicer if there had been a pull out sofa instead of the air mattress.

Quaint
My husband and I decided to get away for our 45th wedding anniversary. He had a desire to see the sports museum so we planned this in August. It was very easy to find and not very far from historic district, restaurants, river, and church. We found the bed very confortable and everything was spotless. The neighborhood is very quiet and the cabin charming. We enjoyed our stay and the hospitality. We even received an anniversary card with a tin bucket filled with goodies. We felt special, Thank you!!

Very Convenient, Clean, and Comfortable
My husband and I found this house to be perfect for our stay while visiting NWSU. The location is ideal for anyone working at/visiting the university--it is just a short, easy walking distance from the school. The location is also ideal for walking to Front Street and dining out in that area. With a park on the other side of the intermittent creek/drainage sluice near the house, it feels almost like one is not in the city so close to everything. This place was perfect for us.....very clean, easy to find, excellent internet connection, and most importantly---quiet. Thank you!

Wonderful Place!
Great place to stay with everything you need! We so enjoyed our stay again this year at the 'Cabin-in-the-City. It feels like home with its full-size appliances. We love watching TV on the BIG screen. The cable / WIFI /internet connection is good. Big bathroom; the water pressure is great and the shower head feels spa-like. The kitchen coffee supplies were a nice touch. We hope to stay here again for the other upcoming events in this area, Classic Car Show, Christmas Lights, and Bike Rallies.

Weekend getaway!!
I recently booked the Primrose Creole Cabin (at last minute) for a weekend getaway. Me, my daughter, and son-n-law had a great time walking to shops and restaurants with the convenience of being able to go to and from the cabin by foot. The cabin was very nice and well kept. It was quiet and even the airbed was comfortable and the shower was great!! I have rented through VRBO several times and a comfortable bed and good roomy shower with nice water pressure are two important aspects of my stay. We slept very well and ventured out again the next day. Thank you for the wonderful time and I look forward to staying again in the future.

needs finishing touches
The cabin was conveniently located to historic downtown. Location was in a lower income neighborhood. Interior was comfortable but lacked some of the special touches we have found in other VRBO properties. It does not appear to be rented regularly and needed a touch up cleaning for items like the dead bug in the bathtub. Overall we had a relaxing weekend with good food, good shopping, and good rest.

A Treasure in the City of Lights
I booked this cabin last minute as a surprise for my fiancé. I used to live in this town and go to school at NSU. After graduation from this college town, we moved to and live in a crowded big city, now. The return to calmness here was wonderful. For a brief time, we were at peace and our lives slowed to enjoy our time together. Thank you for the bonding and closeness we were allowed to share. We decided this will be our new getaway for years to come. - Tina & Paul, Dallas,TX

Pretty good and could be great
It was a great stay loved the cabin feel. The price was good and we enjoyed the location. From the moment we walked into the nicely-appointed cabin until the time we checked out - we were very happy with the accommodations - the cleanliness, and the general feeling that the people who run this place really think about the details that go into making people have an enjoyable stay.

DELIGHTFUL, TASTEFULLY RESTORED CENTURY-OLD CREOLE CABIN
They did a great job restoring this place, and we were very happy with our stay. Additional minor updates could be done, as I noticed some wall cracks, but I am picky when it comes to details. But, I recognize this cabin is almost a century old, and overall we were very happy with the accommodations and would stay there again.

Best Kept Secret
We stayed here during the annual Classic Car Show and it had everything we needed. The bed was very comfortable. We slept like 'babies' and we were well rested to venture out for our walk to Historic Front Street on Cane River, where we shopped the antique stores and ate some really good food at the restaurant.
