We greatly enjoyed our stay in Black Bear Cottage. It was quiet, comfortable and cozy, and had everything we needed for a week long stay. The location is perfect -- close to downtown, Lake Estes, the National Park and Safeway. We also enjoyed watching the hummingbirds and sitting on the shaded porch with our beverage of choice after a long day of hiking. We can't wait to return.

Enjoyed the cool weather and setting on the deck! We are already planning a return trip! The place was exactly as advertised and we had no issues! Had a few issues with the Roku and hostess tried to help, she said it was new to them so they will get it figured out! Our only suggestion is a hand rail on the steps up to the deck would be helpful!

Black Bear Cottage was perfect for all of our needs. Very close to many entrances of RMNP, the location allowed us to enjoy some great hiking. We came back to relax on the deck before walking into town for enjoyable meals. The hosts had wonderful snacks for us, the check in process was easy, and their communication was great. We would not hesitate to stay here again!

We had a great stay at the Black Bear Cottage. It was close to town and to RMNP. Nancy and Ken did an excellent job making sure they thought of everything you might need during your stay!
We enjoyed our mornings and evenings on the deck with the wildlife, we saw elk and mule deer several times.
Communication was excellent with Nancy and she even informed us that we would need timed entry permits for RMNP and sent information.
We are looking forward to staying again in the future and would recommend the Black Bear Cottage to anyone interested in a trip to Estes Park.

We loved our stay at the the Black Bear Cottage. The pictures don't do it justice - it is updated and done very well. We were impressed with the space. It was plenty big for my husband and me. Check in was easy and Nancy left a great handbook for how everything in the cottage worked. We also liked her recommendations for things to do in town. This was our third visit to Estes and her suggestions led us to try new things we really enjoyed. It was also a short walk to downtown (only about 6-8 minutes) which is one thing we love about staying in Estes. We will be staying here again for our next visit.

This home was exactly as advertised — a GREAT place to stay in beautiful Estes Park.The home is clean, exceptionally well stocked and comfortable. It’s tucked away in a quiet neighborhood but is also conveniently located just off a Main Street and within walking distance of the “downtown” area. This is a terrific area for fun activities no matter the time of year. Rocky Mountain National Park is beautiful and we found so many places within it where you can hike, bike, walk or just sit and enjoy the surroundings. And Estes has some great places to eat (if you like BBQ, you gotta try ‘Smokin’ Dave’s), drink, window shop or just hang out. Highly, highly recommend. (Just one note of caution: be careful with the swivel recliner. It sometimes swivels even when you’re reclining! Lol) … Oh, and one more thing: Nancy is an outstanding host. The communication was top notch!

Our summer vacation turned into a winter get away and Nancy, the host, was fantastic and very accommodating. And Black Bear Cottage is the perfect little cozy, comfortable cabin in beautiful Estes Park for any season's get away! It is centrally located making it easy to get to all the wonderful things that Estes Park has to offer - RMNP, great restaurants and bars, and The Stanley Hotel, just to name a few. The house was fully stocked with everything that we could have possibly needed. We cooked breakfast every morning before venturing out to hike and sight see and then would return in the evenings to relax by the fire and cook dinner. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to all couples looking for a comfy, cozy home base!

This was the cleanest, coziest, most well equipped place we have ever stayed. It was the perfect homebase for exploring Rocky Mountain national Park and the entire area. The owners have literally thought of everything one might need for a comfortable stay. The original charm of the cabin is enhanced by all the modern updates. We had a wonderful time in Estes Park and The Black Bear Cottage. The mule deer greeted us on our drive in as they were munching on the bushes. The following day I had a buck 10 feet behind me on the deck enjoying a snack. The day after that we watched a family of elk eating in the neighboring yard. The house has what you need and is clean and inviting. The drive to Rocky Mountain National Park is easy and direct. We drove downtown and decided it was just as easy to walk and avoid looking for parking. This was our first trip to Colorado and we enjoyed it. There were LOTS of people downtown and in the park (Labor Day Weekend), but we tried to avoid the crowds by going to town for dinner early and getting to the park before 8am. There are so many things to do! We loved the Mountain Roller Coaster and the hike off Bear Lake Rd in the park- it was an intense 7 miles, but beautiful.

We loved our stay here! The pictures on the listing do not even do the inside of the condo justice. It truly is so rustic and cute. We loved how it felt tucked away from downtown Estes Park without being far away. The cottage is tucked back off a private drive with a steep drive, so beware if your car is close to the ground. On our initial arrival, we weren’t sure if we were on the right drive. It is also close to Rocky Mountain National Park. We will be recommending this listing to family and friends and will definitely stay again if we come back to Estes Park!

Quiet neighborhood, above the "downtown" hub-bub, but within walking distance. Smell of pine, wind in the branches. Elk, deer wandering through the yard.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay in black bear cabin. The location was great, only 4 miles from Rockies entrance and within walking distance of the adorable town of Estes Park. We saw Elk within a few yards of the cabin! All the special touches to the cabin were such a blessing too. Very clean, cozy and welcoming after a long day hiking. There is a reason that Black Bear Cottage has all those 5-star ratings!! Everything about the property and the owners deserve them. First - everything is immaculate, and I'm very particular. We've stayed in many VRBOs, and this is by far the cleanest ever.
The cottage itself is so cozy. The cabin itself is updated, yet still maintains character. The decor is suited to a cabin but so tastefully and thoughtfully and comfortably done. And Nancy has thought of everything you could possibly need - extra towels, extra blankets, all kitchen utensils, shampoo, games, books, information about the area, etc., etc., etc. The location is perfect - close to Estes Park (within walking distance if you wanted) but yet not "stuck" in the middle of town. And a very short drive to Rocky Mountain. Nancy is a delight to work with, and very thoughtful and generous. We have stayed here 5 - or maybe more - times, because it is such a gem! If you're thinking of a stay in this area - do not hesitate to book Black Bear. You absolutely will not be disappointed!
