The house is very spacious, there was plenty of space for our large family (9 adults, 9 kids). We loved everything about the house! The ski in -ski out access was magical, but a little tricky. Since we had 5 small children 6 and under, parents needed to drive them to the lift. The older children (ages 7, 8, 11, 12) and adults were able to do the ski access to lifts. The host, Lou, was very helpful and accommodating. We had a fabulous stay!

The house is comfortable for large groups of people. The kitchen is well equipped but some maintenance is needed. There is plenty of seating and the hosts keep you well stocked with firewood. The hot tub is nice & clear.
Be sure you have 4 wheel drive and snow tires to get up the driveway. You will definitely slide into the street if there is snow on the ground.
It’s a short walk to the slope & you can ski right to the door.
There are several unfinished projects - a bidet in the master bathroom, wires sticking out of several walls. Overall however it’s a good pick for a ski trip.

It was the perfect place with the perfect host for a week at Schweitzer. Timing was right for fresh snow and cool temps. Ski-in ski-out was accessible even for the young ones. The large open living room is fantastic for family games in the evening, and all that with a view!
Care is required on the driveway; four wheel drive is recommended, otherwise, there is some parking is available on the street below.
Lou is a gem of a host and we are already planning for next year :)

The house has a ton of space (and an even larger amount of couches), so the layout that is shown in the photos may not be how it looks for your stay. The owners live downstairs, which can be extremely nice if its snowing (or raining) and the driveway becomes treacherous. Ski-in/Ski-out would be very feasible in normal seasons, was a little dicey for us due to the incredibly low snow year Idaho was having.

Great location and very convenient to get to and from the mountain. Home was in perfect shape, very clean, and plenty of space for everyone. Check in was very easy.

This place was amazing! It was as described and the owner was so easy to get along with. Amazing views, lots of places to sleep, living room with 6 couches, great for families. We will definitely come back!

Property suited our needs. Ski in and ski out difficult for newbie’s but access to parking by lifts was easy. Driveway is an issue when snow covered. Overall we had a fabulous family trip.

Our group has been doing an annual ski trip for more than 25 years now and this stay has been ranked #1 by far. A true skier's ski house with everything you need for a great ski vacation. I can't say enough about this home, its location and our hosts, Lou and Gene. From the moment we arrived on the mountain Lou was there to make sure we enjoyed our stay. We arrived at a spotless, well kept house with a fire roaring, incredible views, well stocked kitchen and laundry facilities, an abundance of towels, paper goods and bedding. This is a very spacious and comfortable, true ski-in, ski-out home; out the back of the house and literally ski right back to the covered hot tub and ski storage area/entrance. The hosts (the home owners) do live on site and are very respectful of your privacy. They were exceptionally attentive to making sure our stay was great, walkways were shoveled, hot tub maintained, firewood conveniently available, etc., etc.. If we needed anything they were right there to help or answer our questions. This is not your typical “company managed property”. If you are looking for a great ski-in ski-out, book this property! Thanks for making our stay a great experience!

Very comfortable and large house. It is ski-in/ski-in, but not convenient to the village itself in foot. Great place overall.

Lou is a pleasure to work with. Communication is easy and she gets back to you in a timely manner. Check in was easy and we were greeted by the owners upon arrival. The house is huge and fit 14 adults comfortably. Great location for ski in/out!
Yes, the driveway is very slippery. You will need 4 wheel drive. The only two down falls were the microwave was broken and the hot tub was pretty murky. I’ve passed this house on to a few others looking for places to stay at Schweitzer that will accommodate a large group. This is it!

Our group of 14 fit comfortably in the house and enjoyed the ease of skiing into the village along with skiing back to the house. Kitchen was well equipped to cook for our entire group and Lou was so helpful.

Hands down nicest couple we’ve ever met. They are very accommodating and welcoming. Cabin is so spacious for larger groups. This is our second year back as there isn’t much comparable to this place.

Lou is an exceptional host for her unique vacation property. Most highly recommend. We had 14 in our group with age ranges from 8 to 65+. There was plenty of room and privacy for all. Not ADA friendly, but easily navigated by kids and seniors.

We came to Schweitzer to ski and couldn't be happier with this house. The property was well stocked and felt "lived in" with plenty of character. A few of the appliances etc. were a bit quirky, but nothing that got in the way of our fun. The views of the lake from the living room and hot tub are amazing, and our group enjoyed waking up to piles of snow every morning outside our windows.
The ski in / ski out factor was a lot better than we expected - you take a few steps from the back of the house to a cat track that meanders to the main village. On the way home, you can take a cat track back - or even better, take a fun gladed run through the trees. We were fortunate to have a great week of snow and looked forward to exploring new routes through the woods on our way back to the house for lunch or at the end of the day. Really easy once you do it once and the cat track was also a nice snowshoeing path (a few pairs at the house).
As others have noted, the driveway is no joke -- plan for 4WD and/or chains if it's snowing, though Lou was great about getting it plowed. Lou was also fantastic to deal with as a host and super responsive to all of our other questions and needs.
There are 2 br and 1ba on the first floor (off the living room) and 3 br + loft and 2ba (1 ensuite) on the second floor. The bunk room has a full/twin bunk + another twin bed (3 beds in total) which wasn't super clear from the photos. There's also a 3 season porch which we used as an overflow refrigerator. Overall the place showed better than the photos and was very comfortable. We hope to come back some day!

This home has five bedrooms, which was fabulous for our party of eight adults. It has a comfortable, bright and open family room, dining room and kitchen. The views are beautiful from the main floor and the second floor. We were surprised upon arrival to learn that the owner lives in the basement of the house. We thought we'd have access to the basement, so this was a disappointment to say the least. We also had some very dicey moments trying to get up the driveway. There were a few times that our 4WD pick-up began sliding down backwards and we had no way to stop. A snow berm finally stopped us but we thought we might have gone over the edge. We parked across the street and hiked up the steep, snow-covered driveway three different times because there was no getting up that driveway. We thought the snow removal and sanding of the driveway and parking areas should have happened faster, given the large amount of snowfall we experienced. Every time we left and returned, the driveway became a source of great stress. It was a plus that we had no small children in our party. We also had a nonworking sink and vanity light in the master bathroom and there were various holes with exposed wiring around the house. We had a great time but felt there was a lack clarity in the property description and substantial problems with snow removal as described. We have mixed feelings about this property.

When we booked this property online, one site said “children welcome” and the other said “no children”. It was very confusing and having already paid, we hoped all was okay. It was family friendly although one open bedroom had an open railing to the living room, 20 feet below - a bit of a nail biter with 2 four year old boys.
Lou was very prompt about communicating but it should be noted that it appears the owners live onsite. In the late evening we could hear them in the basement which was a tad odd although not really a big deal.
The master bedroom sinks were under construction so we washed our hands in the bath tub - not a big deal, but it may have bugged others. The kitchen was fully equipped, the hot tub was very clean (we didn’t end up using it) and there was plenty of room for everyone.
The driveway was fine even though we had a lot of snow. Plenty of parking and it was a short drive to the village/ski lifts. It says ski in/ski out but there was no trail and with young kiddos, it wouldn’t have been possible anyway.
And Lou was very understanding when I knocked over a small glass table top that shattered on the bathroom tile. I’d replace that with a wood one - sorry Lou! Overall, it was a nice stay and the views were amazing!

Overall pretty good, beautiful view. Owners were pleasant, they work hard on making stay comfortable and they stay in basement. Bring own condiments, coffee filters, cooking spray. Master bath shower and sink and lights above didn't work,
but I know they are working on completing remodel . Make sure to open draft when start a fire or house will fill up with smoke😳 Ski in/out is not easy to access but is possible.

Overall not bad but even after buying 5 box fans never dropped below 80 degrees on inside.

Accommodated nine adults very comfortably. We loved the spacious living room for communing with its giant windows looking at Lake Pend Oreille.

This is a great house in a really good location on the mountain. Ski out is easy. Ski in is also easy once you know the way back. There are a couple routs back, one high, one low. There's plenty of room to relax in the open kitchen, dining room, living room area with fireplace. Large LG TV, with lots of streaming options but no cable. The owners were great. They met us on arrival and made us feel very much at home. Our group would definitely stay here again when returning to Schweitzer.

This was the perfect place for our ski holiday at Schweitzer. The home was very accommodating for our families. Plenty of space to sit while dining and hanging out in the living room. It was amazing to have a large hot tub after a full day of skiing. The driveway was NOT challenging as other reviews suggested...we had a electric AWD car with snow tires (which are recommended anyway if you are driving through the mountains in the winter)--and it was very easy to get in and out of the driveway. I highly recommend Lou's place!

Our experience was better than we expected. Lou (the owner) was very friendly and helpful, and went above and beyond to make our stay a good one. Her condo has everything we needed and is a good location for ski in/ski out. I would highly recommend this property.

This place was great for our group and once we figured out the ski in/ski out rout it was very easy to get to and from the slopes. The house has all that you need and a lot of space.

We had an amazing time in this very spacious beautiful house. Lou greeted us upon the arrival and was always very responsive. We did not have any issues but had couple of questions that were addressed within minutes. The space is HUGE, Hot Tub easily fits in 6 or 7 people and you can enjoy sunset or just amazing view right from it. Every little detail is thought through in the house, kitchen has all you need, baths as well, 3 min drive or short walk from the village but you can ski in and out right from the house. You read many reviews on the steep driveway but Lou takes great care of if and constantly add gravel if needed, we did not need any chains to go up and down it. We VERY much enjoyed our stay and our interaction with Lou! We hope we can come back and will recommend all friends as a great place to spend relaxing and enjoyable vacation!
