Highly enjoyed it and recommend to others. It takes a little longer to reach Davis from this deep in Old Timberline than some other places in Canaan Valley, so may not be perfect for everyone if being closer to Davis and Thomas is important to you. But if you want to be near the little lake and have a view of it, while still fairly close to Timberline Mountain, this is a wonderful place for family groups. They were very helpful and responsive

Cons:
With service fees etc, cost over $1000 per night between Christmas and New Years.
Driveway is very long and downhill to the house.
Kitchen drawers and some cabinets were extremely overfilled and cluttered.
Downstairs bathroom was clean but smelled bad, emanated to whole downstairs.
Things like carpet, kitchen pans, some light fixtures were worn / wonky.
Pros
Hand, dish, and laundry soap included; paper towels, toilet paper too.
Plenty of extra towels available.
Fireplace was nice and worked well.
Grill worked well.
Hot tub worked well and was nice and warm.
There were games - air hockey & foosball- downstairs.
Beautiful natural setting.

Loved this property and would have loved to stay longer. Loved the lake view and the hot tub was very convenient---we usually include a hot tub as a "must" when we visit. The kitchen was one of the better ones we have had in Canaan, the deck was nice and was nice to be able to step outside and right onto the lake trail. Air hockey and foosball were nice too as well as the 2 levels of living space to help limit noise etc...

Besides what I wrote here above, I've not more to add. We made a campfire one evening, at the designated area, and it was beatiful. I have pictures of wildlife too.

It was a great getaway. Just what my husband needed between his chemo treatments. Had several days by ourself then daughter and her family joined us for a weekend. Everybody enjoyed the scenery and fishing and doing some sight seeing. The house was best we ever stayed at. Hot tub was the best. Coming back for a short stay in a month Staff was very nice and helpful couldn't have been much betterit

We we welcomed with a beautifully lit holiday tree and a wonderful view of the lake. Two bald eagles were on the lake. The house was very close to town and easy to find but without any neighbors so it felt secluded. Everything you would need is included in this cabin—great kitchen, huge hot tub and lots of towels. Best place to stay by far!vWonderful to have a fully-stocked kitchen, tons of towels, and a huge hot tub. Secluded but close enough to town. No neighbors within site and great places to eat in Davis.

Our stay was great. The kitchen was well supplied. The living room and deck were our favorite parts of the house. It was well laid out and fit our needs perfectly.The view of Sand Run was great. No problems, check in and check out were a breeze. the only thing I would suggest is to send the form for the Old Timberline guardhouse out with the contract so that it can be filled out before you get up to Canaan.

Actually, this property MORE THAN met our expectations! This property is so much more than what is listed on your website! the views, the layout of the floorplan for our 3 generations of family, the adirondack chairs on the deck and the WELL-STOCKED kitchen!!! I packed WAY more than I would have needed to....this kitchen has EVERYTHING!!! More than what I have at home!! oh, and the hot tub and outdoor fire pit were awesome too! Everyone loved having the wifi available too! Great service!

I’ve been to Canaan Valley many times, but this was my first time using Moutaintop Rentals. Staying at Lost Branch on the Lake was better than I could have ever expected. The views were breathtaking. The home was so inviting. Our weekend could not have gone better. Everyone was very helpful and polite!

A beautiful property with many amenities. The lake was great, had more kayaks than even advertised, lots of puzzles and games, the hot tub was hot and welcoming. Our only complaint was that the door knob to the basement was broken which was quite a problem when you have a toddler.

Lost branch great view
Was a very scenic property. Needs air conditioning or a screen door for summer in the master bedroom. All in all, lots to do for the active young ones such as climbing and hiking and we had a great time

The Lost Branch on the Lake is perfect for every season.
This place has everything you want and more. Great home with all that you need. It sits on Sand Run Lake with beautiful view from the living room and game room. We had a few of our "deer" friends stop by to say welcome. I would highly recommend this place for a great time.
