This place has a very rustic vibe, almost like staying in a cabin. The owners are very friendly and so are their cats. We loved watching the surfers from the lookout after a long day of exploring. The only thing we missed was a fridge with a real freezer compartment, but that was only a minor inconvenience. We would stay here again.

This is a great place for two! We had everything we needed. The a/c struggled a bit to keep up, but it helped and there were fans. This is a nice location: just a couple miles to town and the beach is across the street! The observation deck is great! We watched the surfers while having coffee in the morning and cocktails in the evening. The property is beautiful! From the orchids that they grow right outside the back door and the variety of flowering plants coming into the driveway and yard. We didn’t get to meet our hosts, but we did meet their family. They were so nice and Hanna, the youngest, 5, was the perfect hostess! The cats were distant, but friendly enough that we got our cat fix too. We’ll definitely try staying here again!

My husband and I had multiple appointments in Hilo, and this was the perfect place for us to take care of business and enjoy the wonderful nature, restaurants, shops, and hospitality of the east side of our island. We loved our stay at Honoli'i. Our stay was perfect.

Amazing location with gracious hosts! Would love to stay here again! Perfect for getting to HVO, Mauna Kea and Hamakua coast. Great restaurant suggestions and a home with everything you need. The grounds are spectacular so many beautiful flowers and plants. Views from observation deck are gorgeous.

Our stay at this property was wonderful! The location cannot be beat- It was a perfect hub for all the attractions we visited. The place was clean, comfortable, and spacious for the two of us. We especially enjoyed the view from the top deck of the house which is just a few feet away from the separate guest house. The hosts, Greg and Marie, were very friendly, inviting, and accommodating while also respecting our privacy. They had helpful suggestions of places to visit, including restaurants. We will definitely recommend this place to my parents who frequently visit the Hawaiian islands (they don’t usually stay in Hilo because they haven’t found accommodations they like). I hope the itinerary my father developed is helpful to future guests. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

We really enjoyed our stay. Greg and Marie are attentive and kind hosts. We loved the lookout tower. The property in general was very cool with lots of plants and four very friendly kitties. A really cool vibe! Just a short walk down the road from a black sand beach where we enjoyed watching surfers.

Our stay was honestly the best hosted stay we have ever had. The unit was exactly as advertised and had everything that we needed for a comfortable stay. Marie, the host, was just the sweetest, kindest host we have ever stayed with. She is wonderful!
The location can't be beat - we traveled with our 11 year old and she was able to go down to the beach every evening to play. When we return to the island again, this will be our #1 choice of places to stay. We just cannot say enough good things about the location, the unit (super comfortable bed!) and the host.

My daughter and I enjoyed our stay at Marie’s place. We had everything we needed for our three night stay. We felt very safe, as this is a guest house attached to a main house. We felt like we were part of the family. Marie was very sweet and even let us borrow a small cooler, rain jacket and hat to take on our day trip to Volcano National Park. We loved sitting in the tower each morning and evening, and watching the surfers below. Beautiful views. Would definitely book Marie‘s place in the future.

This place was amazing - we island hopped this last trip so were only able to stay a few days here but we wished we could have stayed longer! Pictures don't do it justice, while it isn't fully up to date it had everything you could need, and the hosts were great! The property is beautiful and you really are right on the water. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.
The guest house itself is at the front of the house but the observation deck (main picture) is just a few steps away. We enjoyed our coffee there every morning!

We loved the unit and location. Really enjoyed the frog and bird sounds each night. Was very relaxing. The cats were so sweet and often had breakfast on the observation deck watching the surfers below.

We loved staying at this property! It was only for a couple of days but it was extremely clean and well stocked. My shampoo and conditioner were confiscated at the airport and so I thought I would have to buy it again but not the case! The owner thought of everything to make our stay extremely comfortable and peaceful. They gave us our space and even offered to let us wash a load of laundry which was heaven sent!! It was secluded in a quiet neighborhood yet close to restaurants, shopping and the beach!!! We would highly recommend this property to anyone wanting a clean and adorably decorated little apartment.

Marie & Greg were the most gracious hosts of this precious cottage in Hilo! The location was very convenient to the attractions we were interested in seeing. The cottage was very clean and well-equipped with everything we needed and it was within walking distance to a black sand beach. We would definitely stay here again!

Our stay in Hilo was great thanks to our stay here. The gardens leading to the second story lookout over the water is immaculate. We loved meeting all of the cats and learning their names as well. Would definitely stay here again if we get the chance to come back to Hilo.

Spent a couple of days in Hilo to check out the Eastern side of the island... Great location and convenient to visit the national parks in beautiful trails and waterfalls.
Marie was very accommodating and had everything that you could possibly need to prepare your own meals if you desired.
She was very accommodating and asking if there was anything else we needed to make our state pleasurable.

We chose this rental to be near Hilo and to be near the coastal scenery in both directions from Hilo - it worked and we were very pleased. The house itself faces the ocean - a locally popular surfing beach, not a swimming beach. But it was great to watch the surfers. The studio rental was on the edge of the main house, with its own carport. The bed was comfortable; our only request from the owner was to empty one of the closets - all of them were stuffed. We went to the watchtower a couple of times for the solitude and beautiful views. The owners are orchid collectors, and the house lot was beautifully planted. The owner was responsive to our questions.

Property was just as listed . Everything was very clean and had everything we needed . Maria was very quick to respond. We got in late and had a little confusion as to where the “front door” was which we realized jt was the slider entrance. Close to town and great neighborhood .

This property and its owner are the greatest!!! Situated right on the ocean, with a beautiful deck and observation tower!!!! The rental property was so beautiful and homey!!! The owner definitely cares about the property and your experience as a visitor!! Lots of info on the area is right there available for you when you arrive!! Our only regret was that we didn't book for longer, and that we didn't get more time to visit with the owner because I'm sure we would have become great friends!! Mahalo!!!

This was a great place to stay while we explored the Hilo side of the island. The studio was very clean, bed was comfy, garden was gorgeous, and the outdoor cats were a plus. Our host, Marie, was very friendly and accommodating.

These guys are great at entertaining guests!! We never met the actually hosts, but their daughter Rachel was awesome! Checked in multiple times just to make sure we were having a great time in Hilo! Which we did!!! Wake-up w/ coffee and go say hi to the surfers in the morning! Honoli’i Beach is literally one minute away on foot. At night watch the sunset from the houses very own “watch tower”?!? Extremely cool! Also my wife and I are cat lovers!! We will miss you Shadow, Mango, and Libby!!! They are all well-behaved kitties!!!
