Tucked away from the rest of the world, this is a glorious beach house overlooking Opossum Bay, Tasmania. Truly an amazing home to relax and play with family and friends. We are already making plans to come back.

We had a magical stay at Saltcotes! From the moment we set foot on the property we knew it was going to be the highlight of our Tasmanian trip! Not only gorgeous, but also comfortable with all the creature comforts you could ask for and more! All the bedrooms and bathrooms were beautifully appointed and the living area was fantastic with multiple huge lounge chairs to fit our whole party comfortably. The location is fantastic, just steps from the beach (which felt like a private beach most of the time!), and a great base from exploring Hobart and its surrounds. We loved the South Arm, with a great local Cafe, wonderful community markets and close to a great Tasmania grocer. Amazing communication from Frances who welcomed us on arrival and showed us around. We hope we have the opportunity to stay at this wonderful property again. Thank you for sharing it with us!

What a beautiful home and stunning location on the beach...serenity +...that is what it feels like from the moment you walk in. Exceptional attention to all necessities and some luxuries needed for a perfect holiday...kitchen was well equipped, even garden herbs to use, comfortable lounge and bedroom areas, modern bathrooms, fire with all the wood you need, and a hidden gem...a vinyl record player with excellent sound system. Neither we or our friends wanted to leave. Frances was an amazing host too...we hope to be back!!!! Cannot recommend this enough. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home away from home Frances and Henry

Incredible accommodation and stunning views to make a stay memorable
A big, spacious comfortable home with lots of thougtful details that make a stay memorable.
Amazing views and direct access to the beach were just the beginning. The home had an actual chefs kitchen complete with butler pantry and an all important second fridge so ideal for a family get together for a celebration, loads of equipment and several dining areas, inside and al fresco. Numerous living areas and five comfortable bedrooms as well as three spacious bathrooms.
Large living space with views and excess comfortable seating for a large group, no skimping on facilities either and we were told to use extra linen if needed and to help ourselves to anything from the kitchen garden.
The host was welcoming, generous and a fantastic communicator.
This is a seriously amazing property, highly recommended especially for large family gatherings or friends getting together.

Lovely
I stayed here with 6 friends and we had the best time. They thought of everything - especially in the kitchen, which had every imaginable utensil and good quality pots and pans and… well everything really! The house was clean, there was plenty of space for all of us, the fire had plenty of wood stacked and was roaring when we arrived. Amazing sound system and pool table provided much entertainment. We plan to come back next year! Thanks so much.

From the word go, Frances was a delight to deal with. Throughout, she was prompt, very polite and concise!
Thanks to Google Maps we had no trouble driving around Tasmania for two weeks, and saved the best (accommodation) for last at Saltcotes Beach House.
The photo’s only just do it justice as it’s not easy to capture the sunsets or quiet at dawn!

We rented saltcotes for a long weekend and it was just what we as post COVID lockdown Victorians needed. The most superb views throughout the house, really comfy and homely with lots of personal touches and close to everything you may need. Big recommendation from all of us!

Perfect in every way
From the moment you arrive you will realise you have found something truly remarkable. Comfortably accommodating our group of 5, seeking a relaxing retreat style getaway, we each had our own room and we really didn’t want to leave. Positioned to maximise the sun and the views the home is very private and peaceful. Perched on the fringe of the sand dunes it is a moments walk to the beach. The panoramic vista takes in Mt Wellington and the Derwent River. The gardens are abundant with herbs and fragrant flowers. The fully equipped kitchen was a pleasure to cook in, everything that we needed was at our finger tips. There are decks and balcony’s on every side of the home creating inspiring places to read a book, sit and chat with a wine or soak up the sun. The upstairs shower that over looks the beach is a real treat. This home felt like it belonged in a set for a movie that involves a luxurious romantic weekend away or a haven for a writer or artist. There is a calming yet invigorating energy about it and it’s magnetic! We will be back, it couldn’t be any more perfect for the girls weekend away, a honeymooning couple or a couple of families looking for somewhere you can adult while the kids explore and experience beachside living at its best!

A piece of paradise
The house and location has absolutely amazing. The house was stunning, had everything we could have asked for and more. Views from every room, lovely bedrooms with comfortable beds. Lots of outdoor areas amongst the gardens and fire pot. We enjoyed the beachfront position with spectacular views. We even saw dolphins and seals swim by. Highly recommend this fabulous place.

What a spot!
Saltcoates was the perfect holiday break for our family. It had something for everyone; hard sand beach for early morning jogs, water sports, pool table, reading hideouts, walking trails, fishing, Netflix, good wifi, the sound of crashing waves at night and front row seats for the Sydney to Hobart yacht race!

An absolutely perfect house and location for a family gathering.
As soon as I met Frances and wandered around the property, I knew this was the perfect beach house for our family gathering. It has a relaxed and yet luxurious feel and with access to the beach at our doorstep we couldn't have been more spoilt! We had ample space and could hardly get around all the outdoor sitting areas to enjoy every aspect . Having access to a private boat house and water activities ensured the children were entertained. I cannot recommend this more highly and yet I want to keep it a secret!

The owners were a delight to deal with.
Its a shame that HomeAway inserts itself into the process in a most inflexible and annoying way. For HomeAway, its all about them and not the interests of the owners.

Family holiday 14-20 October 2019
The property was everything it was advertised to be and Frances was very helpful and obliging with both pre-arrival enquiries/information and afterwards with follow up clarifications.
The property is very well stocked with cutlery, crockery and glassware (for 10 people in our case) allowing the dishwasher to be full but still ample supplies available for current use and all manner of kitchen and entertaining equipment such as boards and platters. The BBQ is also very handily situated just outside the dining area.
We very much appreciated the availability of Netflix and Fox on the main television in the lounge room.
The quality of linen, towels and doonas was first class as were the bathrooms and fit out. Hot water was always plentiful and never in danger of running out. A feature of Saltcotes was the number of dining and relaxing locations (table and chair settings) around the grounds that would really come into their own in summer.
The kitchen, dining and lounge room facilities were excellent with ample space for a party of ten people in our case.
The location, scenery/views and settings was superb and ideal as a place to relax and drop out for a few days with complete privacy given its beach side situation.
We would have no hesitation in recommending it absolutely to any extended family group or group of friends wishing to get away for a complete break and simply relax.

Slice of heaven
We had an amazing week with friends at saltcotes. A really family friendly house with so much to do. We loved exploring the beach and south arm peninsular and relaxing with good food and friends around the fire pit. The house is so beautiful and had everything we could possibly need. A real treasure - reminiscent of coastal Massachusetts or The Hamptons. A relaxed, stylish and spacious beach house, extremely comfortable and well equipped.Light and airy bedrooms,smart bathrooms and plenty of outdoor areas for drinks and dining. Superb house!
A group of friends and I absolutely loved our stay at Saltcotes. The house is gorgeous, well appointed with everything you could need (and more) and has lots of room for people to interact or be in separate places. The location is stunning, the views are to-die-for and there are wonderful rambles to be had right on the doorstep. Frances was easy to contact and welcoming and even extended a late check out to our group. Thoroughly recommend Saltcotes, it's exceptional!
