The hosts did everything to welcome their guests. The breakfast was absolutely freshly prepared, many fruits, vegatarian option available.

As a solo cyclist head from north to south the location is perfect. A two minute walk into the town. The welcome from hostes and little extra unexpected touches made the stay very comfortable. Would recommend 👌

Lovely breakfast. I liked that we mostly ate round one large table so it was interesting to meet other guests.

After a long day hiking, it felt like coming home. We were so well looked after, from the welcome to the yummy home made cake in our room. We loved eating round the big table with other guests and breakfast was delicious. The room was luxury, with big bathroom. We were able to wash and dry our clothes. There was literally everything you could want including a lift back to the trail the next day. Fabulous!!!!

Ian & Kate are excellent hosts. They have thought of absolutely everything to make their guests feel at home. We were able to eat in the guest dining room & they provided everything we needed including wine glasses. The guest lounge is a lovely place to relax after a long day. The bedroom was superb and we loved the homemade cookies. Overall a fantastic place to stay. Thank you to Ian and Kate!

The Old School House was way beyond our expectations. Ian and Kate are amazing hosts, from the wonderful breakfasts, offers of help with transport to freshly baked treats in our room on our return every day they thought of everything and more. This was the best B&B we have ever stayed in.

Perfect for Roman Vindolanda. Great breakfast - the hosts were very happy to cater for a vegan diet & tolerated a very late check in with a friendly smile.

Fantastic place with lots of small touches that make this place an exceptional place to stay. The hosts couldn’t do enough to make your stay welcoming, friendly, enjoyable, stress free and memorable. I would have absolutely no hesitation in staying here again and recommending it to anyone who wishes to stay in the area. There was absolutely nothing that wasn’t exemplary.

I have stayed at this property 3 times. Always excellent. Rooms are great, fridge with milk, lots of tea and coffee and decorated to a high standard. Breakfast excellent. Kate and Ian are very friendly.

I stayed at the Old School House for 3 nights recently. Everything was perfect! Great room, superb breakfast and fantastic hosts :-). A great base for walking and visiting the local landmarks

Beautifully renovated and appointed, our hosts were so welcoming and homely. Our daughter thought her massive single bed was heavenly! The breakfast was sensational!

What is not to love about this property? Wonderfully comfortable bedrooms with loads of lovely touches (the little chocolates in the tiny fridge in our room and the homemade financiers on the dresser). We were able to bring some local takeaway back for dinner and sit in the dining area to eat our dinner then Kate and Ian offered us a lovely warming glass of whisky by the fire to finish our night off. Amazing hot showers in our rooms. Breakfast was phenomenal with home made granola and bread, fresh coffee and the most amazing breakfast menu (we chose the waffles with streaky bacon)…an ample helping! We were even sent on our way with some fruit for the trip ahead. Would gladly return in a heartbeat!!! Thank you Ian and Kate for a wonderful experience

Ian greeted me on arrival, I arrived with a bike and theres a great place to store them. The weather was very cold so they kindly moved me to. Warmer room for my comfort. The facilities were amazing and the hospitality perfect. I was able to choose my breakfast time, everything is homemade from a brownie in the room to the granola and bread at breakfast. Fantastic breakfast menu. Kate and Ian are very kind and welcoming, I would definitely stay here again.
