Locatie ligt op loopafstand van het strand van Fontana Bianche. Het ligt in een wijk met diverse huizen, wat ouder en wat nieuwer. Het huisje is netjes en voorzien van 2 ruime slaapkamers met kasten. Huisjes is verder erg compleet, wasmachine was ook handig! We hadden contact met de host via Whatsapp en de sleutel lag klaar. We hebben de host zelf niet persoonlijk gesproken, maar was verder prima. Er lagen lekkere siciliaanse koekjes klaar, ze waren heerlijk nog bedankt!

Ook al door de andere bezoekers aangegeven. Het pleisterwerk binnen in het huisje laat op sommige plekken los/is beschadigd. Dat kan voor sommige mensen ogen dat het huisje niet zo goed onderhouden wordt, maar ik heb gelezen dat hier nog actie op wordt ondernomen. Verder ziet het huisje er prima uit. Het heeft niet met de accomodatie te maken, maar wij waren er begin mei. Dan is Fontane Bianche eigenlijk uitgestorven, dus voor de gezelligheid zou ik er niet zo snel naartoe gaan. Wij hebben het als uitvalsbasis gebruikt om het Zuid Oosten van het eiland te ontdekken. We zijn nog wel een paar uurtjes naar het strand geweest, zoals eigenlijk haast overal in Italie is dit privestrand dus noodzakelijk om stoelen etc te huren. In mei waren er ook slechts een paar restaurants open.

The house is new and has very good standards. It is close to the sea and the owner is attentive to each little detail. Definitely perfect for a family holiday.

Ok so good things first, the host’s communication was good before booking and on arrival, the property itself was clean and well equipped. Bed was comfortable and the outdoor shower was nice, although the hot water didn’t last long. We were travelling with a baby and a travel cot and high chair (albeit with no tray) were provided. On arrival the host had left us a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge which was kind. The property is a short walk from the beach but there is really very little else in Fontane Bianche except a very tiny shop (we visited in May and it was extremely quiet).

The property was damp and smelly and the host became unprofessional when the toilet became blocked. Our main issue was that the property was really damp. The second bedroom which our daughter was sleeping in smelled extremely musty, as did the main bedroom. You could tell that the walls had been painted over to cover the damp as there was a large patch with paint flaking off. Everything also just felt very damp inside. We did not like staying there so we only stayed 3 of our 5 night stay. We would have left sooner but couldn’t find alternative accommodation. Perhaps the damp would not have been such an issue if the weather had been better (it was rainy when we visited). Just before we left, we coincidentally noticed that sewage was backing up into the shower when we flushed the toilet. I messaged the host when we left, thanked her for her hospitality but said we were leaving because of the damp. Out of courtesy I also told her about the shower/sewage issue and the host said she would investigate. When I enquired a few days later as to whether we could be refunded the last two nights, the host immediately accused us of blocking the toilet (saying we put baby wipes down the toilet, which we didn’t, and would never do because we are not stupid), asking that we pay £150 for the plumber, and threatening to leave me a bad review if we didn’t.

The house was in a really nice area. All the amenities we needed were there and all rooms had airconditioning. There was also on site private parking. We were able to sign in early and sign out late which was a bonus for us. The garden was great to play with our dog. Kitchen had all the amenities you could need and the outdoor bbq was a treat to have. The villa was clean and met our expectations.

Bathroom is a little bit small and cramped. Some of the walls need fixing/replastering/paint
