We had no privacy while grilling as it was right next to the people trying to enjoy icecream, and so was the hot tub. People could see right into it, possibly a fence would help this situation. You can't beat the location of this house in Kill Devil Hills, easy access to the beach, ice cream shop next door and pizza a block away. I will say there are some uncomfortable exposure points. Anyone can walk off the street and up the front steps of the house, or can walk from the parking lot next door right into the back steps and pool area. The house itself was fine, needs a lot of updating. Stove and washing machine are at least 30-40 years old. Deck needs attention as there are a lot of slivers of wood sticking up all over. Lamps seemed to be falling apart, I give the homeowner credit for getting a tech to fix the washing machine pretty quickly after we called in an issue.

There were no other window coverings so the room was open and exposed to the house next door. It was immediately reported to the rental agency, but nothing was done to fix it. I was disappointed that there was no pool maintenance all week so the pool got quite dirty. The sofas in the living room are very old and uncomfortable and the glass top tables are not child friendly, very sharp corners. But the house is in a good location, and has great space.

Reviewer Comments: We had the usual issues, a TV didn't have sound, the large kitchen table (seating 10) needed to have a leaf taken out, too fragile and we didn't want to break it. Kitchen didn't have some of the things necessary to bake, cracked light switches, some light bulbs out, and the hot tub without an opening handle. All things easily taken care of and for the price, we felt should have been done. I know, you only see what's wrong....the pool was great, and thank ful one of the floats worked but had a hole. Beach walk nice and the AC was super. The pool guy came by once and checked the PH so we were happy although the pool needs cleaning care. It was a nice place for the week and would recommend it.

Beside the house is a Cafe and ice cream shop, which was fun to have. The overall decor and furniture needs to be updated. The pool table is in pretty rough shape. The beds were comfortable.If you have any problems with physical movement this is not the place for you. I'm pretty young and the stairs were hard for me to climb over and over. The kitchen is on the top floor. There is a door to access the outside in every bedroom, which with young children made me nervous. The house is right next to the public beach access. The company kept me up to date on everything, through a app. Overall we had an amazing experience as a family. The little details did not interfere with my time there. Thank you

Cleaning was mediocre. Air filters had an inch or more of built up dust, dirt, hair, etc on them. It looked like a dryer lint trap that hadn’t been cleaned in a month. I don’t think they’d been changed in a really long time. Ceiling fans had a quarter inch of the same linty dirt as the filters. We cleaned the fan blades ourselves before use. There was a dirty Bandaid left on the nightstand in one of the bedrooms and fresh blood (assuming menstrual) on the bathroom floor mat by the toilet. Carpets need to be steam cleaned or something because they leave the bottoms of your feet black with dirt. Definitely disappointed in the cleaning job, but very happy with the house itself. I would stay here again, but will be calling management if the cleaning job was as bad as this time.

The pool was nice. The only downfall I would say is all the stairs. It’s hard for people with bad knees and back to climb all the stairs. Overall I was very satisfied with my stay.

We liked the property. The hot tub does not work correctly. The jets only work about half way and not all of them work. Some one came and supposedly fixed it, but still didn't work right. then we got chased by the hurricane.

It was perfect for our family and friends. There was enough room for everyone to spread out and plenty for the children to do to keep them busy. The walk to the beach was easy and the outside hoses and shower were great for clean up when we got back to the house. We loved using the pool and hot tub at the end of the day. A couple of things for renters to know- the windows have blinds but no curtains. It gets bright VERY early and the children were unable to sleep past 6. The beds are VERY firm. Sheets are provided but you will want to bring your own pillows and blankets.

The layout of the house it unusual and has lots of interior steps which was not a problem for any of us but maybe to others. We enjoyed the private pool, hot tub, and pool table. There were some board games and movies provided as well. There was also a new restaurant next door. The food we ordered was very good. We all noticed a musty smell, especially on the lower level with the pool table, which limited our time spent there. The mattresses were not the best. Other than that it was fine. The walk to the beach was not bad. There was a crosswalk one house down, at the beach access.
