Very clean and very nice neighborhood. Excellent communication with owner. Everything was as it said it was. Front porch very inviting and peaceful. Beautiful backyard and pool… getting back and forth to beach was great with golf cart. Easy walk as well.

We had an amazing stay at Southern Sands! From the moment we booked, Jan was attentive and extremely informative. The home was clean and within walking distance to the beach. The pool was a big hit for the kids and adults and was stocked with rafts and other various pool toys! We rarely went out for dinner because of the comfort of the home. I’m sure we will be back someday!

Location was great not too far from the ocean and white sandy beaches and it does sleep a lot of people. I rated the add a 3 because it sounds like the pool comes heated but it is an additional 350.00 to have the pool heated. Like I said it does sleep a lot of people but the stair situation is narrow spiral staircase leading to the two bedrooms upstairs. I think that it is really hard to tell from photos what you are getting. We have stayed in many VRBOs throughout the years and sometimes I am impressed and other times disappointed that I did not do enough research before booking. Neighbors were great and overall it was a quiet street. Everyone runs their business/rentals differently and that’s ok and now I know the questions and clarification to get before booking.

The house was great we had a wonderful time. The owner was very quick to respond to any issues. The only complaint I have is it’s listed with a heated pool but that was an extra cost. It should be listed heated pool optional cost. Otherwise great location plenty of room. The grandkids were in the pool all day and it was very close to the beach. I would definitely rent again.

Jan and Jim were fantastic! Our communication was great. When an unexpected problem with the water heater came up they were on it right away and even made one of their other properties available for showers and a hot tub while the water heater was repaired. The house was perfect for our family of 11. Would definitely consider this home again or another place hosted by Jan.

Our stay was phenomenal, from the rental contract to communication with Jan, the accuracy of the property description. We had a ball and will definitely be renting again. Jan is amazing answered all of our questions and made this one the best vacations we have done. This house was BEAUTIFUL!! It was so close to the beach and had so much around it! The street is beautiful, pool is amazing, the house had everything you needed. The owner responded immediately to any questions I had in reference to things for the house. I most definitely will be staying here again and recommending it to anyone wanting to go to Destin! The only minor things I can say is change would be the bed in the master be a little softer (it’s a little too firm for my liking) and the heated pool to be a little warmer, but it was a very rainy weekend when we went so that could be what caused it to be cold too. My girlfriends and I thoroughly loved this house! Jan is definitely amazing and the house is awesome!!

Took my diverse aged office staff to Destin as a thank you for their hard work. The house was wonderful. It even better than the pics. The pool and back yard was great especially on days when the little kids in our group were worn out from time at the beach. The rooms were clean and spacious. Our Family Vacation
We had a little family reunion of 14 in this house and it met all of our needs. Rooms were spacious. Kitchen was a great meeting place and the wrap around porch was lovely! The winding staircase to 3rd floor was tricky but we managed. The pool was just the perfect size with plenty of chairs. My only concern was getting into the pool. For safety reasons, I wish there would have been a railing as we had elders with us. I would definitely stay here again. The location is perfect. Who can complain about 1 block to the beach. It was a fabulous house!

Perfect home/location for family vacation
Great, well equipped property for a family vacation with kids. The pool was excellent, clean and we loved how the house was set up with pool toys and floats, loungers, etc. Layout of the house was nice and we had everything we needed. Jan was excellent to work with, and we appreciated her clear and thorough communication. Great location for access to the beach. We rented the golf cart and enjoyed using it to cruise the neighborhood and shuttle back and forth to the beach. Hope to be back soon!

Warm Weather Getaway
We had a great time, and enjoyed our stay. The house was just the right size for our family. The pool was enjoyed by all. We definitely used it daily. Even though we had beach towels, the pool towels came in handy. The beach was a short distance from the house. Even though the red flags were out for three days, the littles enjoyed the beach. Don’t bring pool toys, there were plenty! The large wagon held the coolers, toys, chairs, and kids. Beach mats were plentiful. The kitchen was well stocked. My only suggestion would be to have a few more kitchen towels. The living room was comfy, and perfect size with plenty of seating. The large table outside was perfect for dining outside. I would highly recommend this house. We are already planning our next spring break.

Great location & Nice host!
Overall our family had a great time at this house. It was a great location for walking to the beach. There weren't a ton of restaurants walking distance but still a few. We paid the extra for the golf cart and heated pool. The pool was totally worth it. We did use the golf cart for hauling pool toys / chairs to the beach some days as well. The house really suited our needs with the amount of bedrooms. The bathrooms (minus the master) were small but functional. I am glad we had mirrors in the upstairs room so we could get ready in there to free up a shower. Everyone was happy with the bed comfort. Overall it was a clean house but it could for sure use a deep cleaning. The carpets could use a good vacuuming & the landscaping was all overgrown making it to where we could only put the pool chairs in certain spots around the pool. Those are minor details though and I would still recommend staying here. Jan was very nice, informative of the area and fast to respond when I needed her for small things during our stay.

Great family home
My family and I had a fantastic stay at Southern Sands. The yard is fantastic. When not at the beach the kids were completely entertained by the pool which I totally suggest to heat if fall breaking. It was great to put the young ones to bed and sit in the pool for a chat and a glass of wine with the adults. Our group went on a fishing trip and having the grilling deck to enjoy our bounty was an added bonus.
Having the golf cart was a great bonus and Pompano beach access is nice and super close. We also ate out beach side several nights and the kids had a blast taking the golf cart (with a group of nine we did rent an additional cart). There are plenty of beach nets, mats, shovels, chairs, games, etc. that Jan has at the house to use. The stay was fantastic.

Great Stay
We had a great stay here. The owners were friendly and had great communication. The house was family friendly, and clean. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. This was the first time we rented a house with it's own pool, and it was a game changer. I don't think we can ever go back to renting one without! We did the extra option and rented a golf cart, which the owners had waiting in the driveway for our use. We would definitely rent again.

Overall comments
We were told and even sent a map and told by Janet that we had "access" to Barricuda Beach which is a short walk from the property but to me that means we could setup there when we were at the beach but no we had to walk and drag a wagon down the beach about a quarter of a mile to a "public" section of the beach which is about 100 feet wide for all of the public to use which was at the least VERY misleading from Janet and for what we paid for this rental that was rediculous to only be able to use the "public" section of the beach. I have pictures when we checked into the home and the home was not clean at all as i have pictures the the washer and dryer area that had not been cleaned for months and also under the couchs in the living room had not been cleaned under along with the barbacue grill was a complete disaster as there was food left in the grill and when we went to use it and lighted it a fire started as the grease trap had NEVER been cleaned so overall this was VERY VERY misleading as to renting this property. Also, the neighborhood, we were surrounded by properties that were rented to high school kids and the home next door to our house they had a party on Tuesday night and approx 150 kids were at the home all night and very loud. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PROPERTY!!!

This house was spacious and well maintained! It was clean and beds were comfortable! The backyard was great! Pool and space around pool was great for a family hang out spot (lots of lounge chairs!) Front porch was also nice! Kitchen was well stocked! Plenty of seating! Living room also had great seating! Front porch was nice!! All the balconies were great! The location was great. Not far from beach access! Very easy to walk to! Very close to shopping area! The house had lots of pool toys as well chairs, beach mats, and beach toys!

We had 11 in our group and never felt crowded in the house or around the pool. The pool was clean and plenty big enough for the kids to have a hours of fun in it. The front porch is a great place to relax. We walked to the beach with a 2 year old without any trouble.

Perfect Getaway
We loved our stay, it was the perfect getaway for our families! Close and easy access to the beach that most days wasn’t too crowded. Then came back to the house for a break and could enjoy an evening dip in the heated pool! Close and convenient to grocery stores and many great restaurants too We had 2 families, (11 people), plenty room to spread out or add another family to join us next time. Spacious, clean and management was very easy and kind to work with. You won’t go wrong with this house! Thank you for sharing it with us!

Excellent Vacation Home
My family and I were very pleased with our stay at this location. The house had all the amenities we needed for a nice family vacation, which included 3 children and 1 infant. The location was perfect, as it was a short golf cart ride to the beach (1.5 blocks from the nearest beach entrance, about a mile from a large public beach parking lot). Kitchen had all the tools necessary to prepare meals at home, and the grill was a huge plus. Jan, the property manager, was extremely friendly and easy to work with. Overall it was a great experience and would recommend it to others!

Relaxing week in Destin
Great location with plenty of room for our group of 11. The beach is extremely close (and walkable) but would recommend renting the golf cart as it made getting to/from the beach much easier. House could probably use a little more maintenance to ensure it matches the quality shown in the pictures although there was quick response when we needed to call for more immediate maintenance needs. Pool is decent sized but not "huge."
