Our stay was perfect. The house is very well stocked with more than everything we needed. The back porch overlooking the lake was so comfortable and PEACEFUL! We especially appreciated the doggy gates to keep our dogs safe on the porch.

We came down to celebrate my Mom's 85th birthday and this was perfect for our "home base!" Plenty of space for me, my brother and sis and law, and my niece. We were even able to have local family over for dinner. Very clean, everything we needed, and lots of plants to hang out and relax. Our only complaint would be the Nest thermostat; since it's run remotely it didn't always match our needs. Got warm on the downstairs bedroom at night. Overall though, we'd definitely stay again! Thanks!

We had an amazing time! Plenty of choices to eat out, the kids loved the lake and the house was very comfortable.

My husband and I stayed at Castaway Cottage for 3 months while visiting family and friends in NC. Kathy and Michael were great hosts who were attentive to whatever we needed. Waking up, each day, to the view of the lake was very therapeutic. I even caught sight of white pelicans which I’ve wanted to see for quite awhile. Our neighbors were very friendly and we enjoyed greeting them on my many walks. Our children and grandchildren enjoyed visiting us during our stay. They enjoyed sitting on the dock and taking in the view. I recommend Castaway Cottage to all.

Great dock to relax and fish

We enjoyed our visit to Castaway Cottage and will plan to stay here again in the future. The home is very comfortable and had everything that we needed for a great stay for us and the dogs. The outdoor porch was our favorite spot. Great view of the lake and a perfect spot to spend some time relaxing and reading. Very nice and very clean. We are local residents and just needed to get away for a few days. Some things came up that limited our time but really enjoyed the porch. Nice open water makes a great view. Did a little fishing when we were there.

Booked this spot for a low-key lake weekend celebration for my boyfriend who recently graduated grad school with a few of our friends & we all had so much fun and really enjoyed the lake, cottage, and great weather. However, my only complaint about this booking was that the # of allowed guests was slightly misleading. When I first booked, I was unaware of how many friends would be joining us. I knew it would not be more than 8, since the booking said it slept 8 guests. I reached out to the property owner letting her know that I was still waiting on some confirmation from a few friends and I was informed that no more than 6 guests were allowed… although the ad said that it slept 8. I wasn’t informed of this until after booking. She worked with us and was kind, but I did feel as if that should have been in the description before I booked this property. Other than that, the rest of our stay was great and High Rock Lake was a great time.

The house was perfect for my family of four. We each had our own bedroom, so that was so nice. The porch and dock were amazing. The lake was absolutely beautiful. We would love to come back!

Absolutely loved this property, it was perfect for me, my husband and 4 kids! The house was SO clean and had everything we needed. Loved relaxing on the back porch with a book and kids loved to fish and swim off the dock. Hope to stay here again!

Was an amazing place for a get away! Clean, cozy, and awesome view of the lake! I brought my bass boat with and it had a very nice dock to tie off too. Great food near by and public boat launch was less than 10 minutes away.

Great place to chill and relax. Peace and quiet. Good views of the lake and wildfowl. Close to grocery store, restaurants, bait and tackle stores. Excellent all round.

Relaxing, clean, home with a wonderful lake view and a welcoming porch to view it from. Location was quiet and peaceful.The only con for us were the shower heads. One barely sprayed enough water to rinse off the soap and the other shower head was just acceptable. Other than these two issues everything was very good. We would certainly recommend and would stay here again.

Relaxing stay

We stayed to catch up on some work related items and in between the mounds of paperwork the porch made the most relaxing spot with the lovely view! Hope to visit again!

My family and I loved out 3 night stay at this house. The view from the back porch was beautiful. Master bed was comfy. Stairs are a bit steep but that is not an issue for us. Thank you for the opportunity to stay in your home we thoroughly enjoyed it!!!

We came in for training for work and it was a wonderful retreat and close to the branch location. Beautiful atmosphere, beautiful view and the capability to work remote one day was great. Clean and very homey. All the comforts you of home instead of a hotel. We will be returning for sure! Kathy was a pleasure and made my first vrbo experience amazing.
